- I really love this album as Zakk did an amazing job taking on such a huge role. His playing was flawless and a lot of the riffs remind me of Randy.
Thanks for tuning in again, feel free to email me with any questions at Lambchopper678@me.com Subscribe to the channel and follow on me Facebook lambchopper6...
Nothing like a saturday night Chopper upload
Dude, Killer job! Would love to see Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime tone next!
Same here 🤘
that's what I'm talking about!!
Same
Dude, your minimalist approach to getting all these tones is incredible. Very impressed!!
Right on man. I have always loved his tone on this album more then any he has ever gotten. Zakk is one of those guys whos hands have a lot to do with his sound. A very unique person and player. That said good job Chopper
I’d love to see blizzard of ozz
I'd love to hear Zak's tone from Pride and Glory.
Is probably the same stuff from the early ozzy years,a jcm800,boost and chorus
@@gabriel.9035 Probably I remember reading about it his set up, plus the EMG's and double tracking
Hell yeah, his tone in that album is one of the best IMO
@@duncanh6045 it’s the gear just no double tracking with Pride & Glory. It has some over subs but most of the record is played live on the floor. I’m a huge Pride & Glory fan and run the Pride and Glory Fan page on Instagram and Facebook.
@@jasonveall88 Wow live on the floor, it definitely has that improve feel about it, I always loved James Lomenzos's bass solos under Zakks solos during Horse called war. So With the overdubs was it on Harvester of Pain? I was thinking the Keys in that song could have been done afterwards, I always loved Zakks pinched harmonics in the intro.
Now this is an album with an interesting tone! I love Zakk’s sound on this one.
I just love watching you nail these tones and describe how you got there. I’m mainly a bass player for my band, but I play guitar too in overdubs, and you’ve helped me a lot, to build different tones for each.
You’ve given me lots of ideas , and I appreciate that so much!! 🍻
Thanks mate, happy to help 👍🏻
I’m a sub and a fan for life man, cheers! 🍻🍻
Mikes coverage of this is jaw dropping. I didn't even know I cared about Zakks tone on that album.
Your approximation of Hetfields picking in other videos is also jaw dropping. I think you could plug into a wet potato and I would think. "yep. LambChopper nailed it."
Wide awake here in Raleigh, North Carolina (🍻) at 4am watching a new Lambchopper vid 😃
Oh shit I'm in raleigh too.
Dude, do a Jeff Waters's Alice in Hell guitar tone... distortion and clean settings.
This \m/
Yes!! And a Never, Neverland tone video. Jeffs tone on both those albums is just incredible
Yeah!!!
Circle Of Tone already did this and got Jeff’s settings straight from him
One of my favourite Ozzy albums, one of my favourite albums, period!!
This is fantastic! I'd love to see a video on Jake's tone on The Ultimate Sin; love that album!
Thank you so much for that video. I simply love that tone and you nailed it
Love Zakk & Randy ,What a Awesome Video..You Rock 🤘🖤👊👊
You truly are the master! Incredible
Always great watching you work chief 👌👌
Awesome tones LC! You sound great because mostly your hands doing the playing creates your tones. Incredible as usual my friend. The amps and effects only add to your awesomeness! Thanks for the lesson as usual.
Well, now I'm in the mood to listen to that album... front to back
Great work on matching that tone!!!
Dude! Such an under appreciated album! Breakin' All the Rules!!
I love Zakk's tone on this album. well done
*You are definitely the master of getting guitar tones right. 🏆🏆🏆🏆 This sounded spot perfect!*
The bird is always so calm. 🙂
You make great videos get awesome tones, and also a monster player. Great stuff, keep it up!
Always a great tone
Sounds great
Another superb video sir!
Yess I have waiting so long for this
Really nailed it, and love this series! \M/
Killer tone man! I'm working on covering some of Zakk's songs now. Glad I stumbled upon this so late at night! 😁
Chopppppaaaaaa great job my brother!!! Cheers from Boston!!
Keep them coming
Killer bro! Such a great album, front to back. Cheers👽🤘
Great kick ass tone! Great vid
Hey man you are way too good at this. I also notice from your guitars in your wall that we grew up in the same era doing all the same shit including skateboarding. Now I have to go listen to the entire No Rest album because you've got it stuck in my head.
6:50...lovely bird playing the white strat off camera...want more bird outtakes! One of Ozzy’s best albums, thank you!
As a Vintage Marshall 100 watt Plexi and 800 user for over 20 years it cracks me up how Lambchopppers can make a Marshall 20 watt mini head that cost's
under $1000 sound like a modded JCM 800 or a Friedman modded Plexi that would cost five or six times as much!😁Talk about helping others save money!🤘
You always do killer videos brother.....sounded awesome!.....I have one of those dsl 20s, it's a nice amp for the money
Man you really have a knack for dialing in different tones! You've inspired me to order the 10 band EQ, cant wait to mess with it
I ordered the 6 band eq and I’m learning. It’s amazing
Get a 6 band too so you can run 10 band in the effects look and the 6 band up front to beef up the input.
@@LookingForEntertainment112 100% I have them both on order
Zakk did like quadruple layers on that album.
Cool video, thanks a lot!
Dead on as always! You know your gear.
Nice job!😀👍 man it does sound like Zak
Wicked tone brotha
This album is super important to me in terms of development.
Not only was I blown away as a kid listening to Zakk, it’s actually where I initially learned to play a pinch harmonic.
So glad you did this one.
Do you listen to Overkill at all? I would love to hear you capture some of their tones.
The more I watch this video, the more I wanna duplicate what Lambchopper is doing with this setup, for my own regular tone. I think it suits multiple styles.
Thanks man, been watching your videos for quite a while now. You have helped me so much to grasp building tones with these series of videos. I'm using a digital setup, I find it quite enjoyable and beneficial to my ear as well as technical understanding to transcribe your rig setup over to a digital format. The only thing I'm missing is the ten band EQ, hopefully Headrush will release an equivalent in the near future. I was wondering if you were planning on tackling The Great Southern Trendkill tone?
Definitely, just waiting on something to arrive 🤘🏻
You have an incredible ear for tone. I'd love to hear your take of Chris Poland's tone from Return to Metalopolis or Damn the Machine.
🤘😈🤘 I would be 150% happy with that sound.
Dude this is sick...
Wow this was a good lesson. Any chance you can do one for capturing Slash's tone from Appetite for Destruction.
Sd1 sounded like the right tone for Miracle man for sure! Thanks for that
Nice
Now you gotta do No More Tears bro! 🤘 my fav tone of all time
Got to see him do a clinic at Luca Music in Rhode Island back in the late 80s. If I recall he was using a Boss OD & Boss chorus driving two separate JCM800 half stacks. Small place, and it was LOUD.
Big crunch and harmonic squeals all the way !!
I remember an old Zakk interview saying used an aphex aural exciter in his studio rig, they were all the rage back in the late 80's early 90s too
Would like to hear No More Tears next.
highly underrated album
Great riffing and tone. My favourite riff on this album has got to be Breaking all the Rules🤘🏻
Agree. Underrated ozzy song. And love randy's drumming on that track too
Just bought this amp and loving it. It can compete with $1000 amps and works well with Fortin 33 boost.
Hello from greenland
I love all your videos! I have learned so much about where pedals sound best and how to use them. What guage strings are you using on your Lamb guitar?
Cheers mate, 10-52 on everything
Is there anything that DSL 20 can't do? 🤔😂😂😂 I don't know if there are other amps (especially in its price range) that, coupled with just an eq and an overdrive, can be as versatile!!!!
And you mate, rock the sh*t out of it, as always!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Yeah, actually, LampChopper says himself at the beginning this video that the DSL amp has too much gain to get the lower gain tone of the Marshall 800 series that Zakk used. That's why the tone in this video has more gain/distortion than Zakk's No Rest tone, you can hear it.
I'm not trashing the DSL, but just pointing out that it's ironic that you made this comment on the one video where Lambchopper says at the beginning that the DSL couldn't nail the tone.
@@jacktripperthemusical gain is never too much!!!! 😂😂😂 Yet this amp has covered Ozzy, Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Death, Metallica (even Boogie tones quite a bit)... pretty well. It may not be exact tone 100%, but a credible one. To my ears, not getting a tone 'cause of too much gain is more manageable than not having enough of it... 🤷🏻♂️
However, cheers mate 🍻
Great job! Did you know Zakk tried to imitate Ronni Le Tekrø from TNT’s “Tell No Tales” album tone for no rest for the wicked? loving both guitarists and bands I find it very interesting!
Holy crap that was a good tone album. Good info.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
cool
The vid is called Zakk Wylde The Shaved Years.
Really mean sound, well done! I have a 20HR too, not plugged in at the moment but I got a ish-sound using chorus > tube screamer 30% > klon 80% > digital delay > digital reverb > Helix Jazz Chorus straight settings(no chorus)> clean low volume sound on another tube amp with tone controls almost full down except middle into creambacks. Using bridge humbucker on a super strat it comes fairly close to the record played through full range HiFi-speakers. Not as good as yours and I certainly don't do Zack as good as you, but the sound is seemingly in the right territory.
I'd like to suggest Jerry's tone on Facelift 🤟
This right here.
i would to see a dio cover!
fkn hell you're awesome man... wish you was in W.A to have a jam with.... oh well.... :D
Great stuff!!! Can you get it on the other channel with gain up and Boss Super OD1 pedal driving it?? I have come close...
Would love to see a capturing Randy Rhoads vid!...Please :D
Unfortunately the DSL can’t be a plexi, not even close sorry.
Hmm. I always used the chorus before the amp. I’ll have to try it in the loop.
There are quite a few SPX 90’s or 90 II on eBay here in the states and from Japan. More than likely going to need to be recapped to work like new.
Kickass! You should try out annihilators Alice in hell tone, I got a rly good one dialed in and its one of my favorites.
Could you do Destruction's Infernal Overkill era tone or Kreator's Endless Pain?
Great Piece of Mind deck in the background....Which Powell Peralta is that?
1990 McGill
Do you think you'd be able to create Adam jones marshall tone?
Damnnn dude…..
Could you don vid covering zakks BLS tone and tips?
Hi Lambchopper, didn't Zakk also use a wah pedal in a fixed position similar to what Slash did for the Sweet Child sound? I think I read somewhere that he used it for a more tubey sound. Love this setup btw.
Not that I know of, he’s never mentioned it
Can you do ones for Load and Reload on the DSL?
How good is the bird at replicating tones? Great video!
No more tears next plz
It’s almost identical to what I’ve dialed in. As soon as you drop the tuning it’s bang on
That was really good! I think SD-1 worked better for his, "No Rest for the Wicked tone" and his own overdrive seemed more like his Black Label Society tone, a bit more undefined and saturated - great tones in any case! Cheers!
Ohhhh shit that bird is real! It was still when I first saw it...
Zakk was amazing in that very first sirious role!!! Especially after the legends... And this is how he became a legend as well... In the meantime, thanks to Prince of Darkness and his lovely wife :)
We have the spx 900 also
Love all the “so this tome” comments. Like he just sits down and bam! Out comes the tone lol.
Would a Wylde over drive work good with the sound
As I understand it, Zakk actually used some drive on the SD-1. He didn’t use it just as a boost.
Very awesome tone. The tone is there, just doesn’t have that bottom end punch a 100 watt amp would pump out.
where u get the chain mic stand dawg? very nice!
Hey thanks mate, I made it after seeing Zakk had some on his Boozed, Bruised & Broken Boned DVD back in ‘03 or so. His were full sized but I thought they looked absolutely badass
@@LambChopper678 so you weld? My son has a friend who is doing this in school., can sell them online, i found a few but not in the eu lol
I'm not sure if you're a fan, but you should try to do Accept tone, Wolf Hoffmann's tone is unique and great I think. I love also Uwe Lulis tone of Grave Digger's albums - Tunes of War, Excalibur, Knights of the Cross ..
you should do evh
The MXR 10 band really seems to color the tone , even when all settings are at neutral. Is putting it in the xf loop make that much of a difference?
I’d say it’s the most important pedal in my whole signal chain. Using the eq in the front end alters the input gain structure. It changes the way the amp feels and behaves.
Using it in the fx loop it sculpts the output like an eq should. It’s really powerful and transforms an amp to be insane. Hands down eq’s are the best addition to any amp
Sound very nice, but in my opiniom its sound like No More Tears. Zakk used in this album JCM 800, Boss sd1 and boss chorus pedal. In No Rest For the Wicked Zakk used rack system: yamaha spx, delay, reverb, Aphex Aural Exciter and Metaltronix preamp and power amp
The key to it all is in your EQ settings. Zak has this midrange bump that many miss. They opt for the scooped curve and miss it entirely. And the “lush” chorus effect was most likely added in post production and can never be achieved with stomp boxes.
