    amzn.to/2viUlf8
    No parts need to be removed to remove and replace Mercedes serpentine belt.
    Removing the engine cover by pulling it up, can make this job easier, but it is not necessary.
    Radiator cooling fan does not need to be removed.
    A pin can be used to lock the tensioner in the UP (preloaded) position.
    It is possible to change the belt without using a locking pin.
    Take a picture of the belt routing before you remove the belt.
    Do not use the Secure Torx bolt to release the tensioner.
    If you have a turbo intake pipe, remove it to access the tensioner.
    The original belt can possibly last up to 100k miles. We recommend changing it every 60,000 miles.

I just replaced my belt thanks to you...the last one cost me 700 bucks... it was only 66 for my belt and tool and tool attachment!! even tho i feel its the bearing causing my overall issue you just gave me a lil hope!! Thank yu so much!! Keep posting you have no clue how much you have been a blessing brother , keep on keeping on!!

    You saved me bro!! My belt broke just as I was pulling into the University of South Florida campus (USF). I’m a cancer patient that gets treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center located on the USF campus in Tampa, FL. I drove all the way from Orlando (on I4 - nightmare interstate) and was super lucky to break down in the campus parking lot and not on the interstate. Thanks to your video, I knew I would be able to repair it myself (after finishing my appointments of course). I got lucky again when a university employee, Fran, gave me a ride to the auto part store where I bought not just the belt, but the 17mm socket (thanks to your video) as well. I also had to buy one of the pulleys because it was totally destroyed and responsible for the belt breakage. But it was your video that let me know that I could fix it myself. You saved me hundreds of dollars - between a tow and what I’m sure would have been an overpriced repair shop bill. I always have my tools with me but I didn’t this time because I let a friend borrow the car earlier to help them move and took them out to make space and forgot to put them back in (of course). But like I said, I only had to buy the 17mm socket & not a whole set (I did have to buy a ratchet). And I did have to buy an E-Torx set to remove the torx bit on the pulley I had to replace cause they don’t sell individual E-Torx sockets. Any way - SUCCESS SUCCESS SUCCESS THANKS TO YOU AND FRAN!! 🎉 🎊

    Thanks for the excellent and clear instructions. I just replaced the belt on my wife's ML350 in about 10 minutes. I do have one issue however...I'm really annoyed at how easy this was as I've probably paid mechanics dozens of times over the years $200 to do this repair which was easier and faster than an oil change. :-) Thanks again! Well done, particularly showing the drawing. I did that first and it gave me confidence that I'd do it correctly.

    • @iRepairAutos

      Glad it helped. Did those mechanics change any of the pulleys or tensioner? If they did then yeah it could cost what you paid. If they changed just the belt then ouch!

    Secret to test the bearings first. Shoot each idler with a temperature gun, write down results, let it run for twenty to thirty minutes, test temperature again and if one or more is excessively high.

    Thanks for this video, Sir! My 2011 e350 4Matic is at the dealership as I type, getting this job done. Your video has already saved me $100s of dollars as I was able to tell the service sales guy exactly what needed to be done. 10-15 minute job at the most. They were gonna hit me hard with the labor cost of course. Hopefully only the belt needs changing. Thank you!

    Hey there how are you? I am a big follower for I own a 2007 Mercedes R350 and thought ill hit you up and see if you might know what the issue is. My yellow engine light came on yesterday and its the only car I have for the family so after googling it came up most posts its the EGR Valve so I went and purchased a fuel system cleaner for injectors, valves, etc and took it for a good drive and the light is still on? Any ideas if it might be that still or might be something else?

  • @AndyNav1
    @AndyNav1 4 роки тому +1

    Thank you sir for this video. It gave me the courage to change mine on my 2008 ML350. But when I finished, I noticed that the belt over the tensioner pulley has an overhang of about 1/8" over to the front of the engine. I did it couple of more times it's still the same overhang. The belt sits quite well on all other pulleys. Don't think it is normal. The old belt was ripped on the same edge, meaning there must have been some force against the flange of other pulley(s). Mind you, this happened after 8 years of driving!
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    • @glasser2819
      @glasser2819 5 років тому

      Two simple ways to figure out which pulley chewed the belt:
      1- spin it then listen for noise
      2- side to side wobble play
      While the belt is out, check tensioner spring is still smooth. It's the one stressing everything belt related 👍🏻

    • @iRepairAutos
      @iRepairAutos  9 місяців тому +1

      If it wobbles ever so slightly; it can eat away at the belt over time. If the pulley has any sharp edges that touches the belt, or the pully is misaligned it will eat the belt. Sometimes the belt is just a cheap knock off.
