I spent almost 3 weeks of my free time to figure out ways of removing the crankshaft pulley, it was not easy but I am sure it will be easier for you after watching this video, let me know your experience. Cheers, Max.
Perserverance wins in the end. Well done. I have used the starter bump method on a Mazda 626 , but it was only 160 Nm. It worked well though with the breaker bar touching onto the ground to prevent movement.
got the same squeek on my 09 e550 going to try this and hope it helps. Also my little oil cooler thing next to my oil filter started leaking so probably going to do that gasket as well
I really admire your mechanical skill & creativity for removing it! What's your opinion on those MB repair manual showing multi step torque such as 200 NM + 90° angle in this case? Following those steps are impossible due to narrow work space limitation. When I replaced my W203 suspension strut, I applied blue loctite then tighten to the best I can feel 😅. Your crank bolt & my suspension bolts are simple bolts, not those torque-to-yield thing so it just puzzles me MB WIS always show complicated torque process !
@@BenzAddiction Thank you. But I mean what are you using to turn the pulley? What is attached to the ratchet? I need to adjust my crankshaft pulley to 305 degrees, but I don’t know what tool I need to actually turn it.
Hi, I have a GLK 280 with the 3.0 M272, and recently it started the same squeaking at cold start. After warming up the engine, the noise disappears. After looking at the crankshaft pulley, I see it's kind of off-centered. I thought it could be some tensioner bearing, but watching your video, there's a chance the pulley is the culprit.
Hi I just watched your video on diagnosing a mercedes with a 38 pin. I have a w202 1996 c200 m111 engine. Do you have any more resources on the fault codes and pin layout.
@@BenzAddiction Honestly, there is a very very limited squeaking only audible when you pay a lot of attention and goes away after engine warm up. I thought I noticed the tensioner to wobble a tad when engine running, so I ordered it with the other 2 pulleys. I guess I will find out pretty soon if I will use your methods.

You my friend are a game changer. The only way I could undo it too. You really got me out of a pickle. Thank you
Glad it helped you. 👍

Yes Leonardo, I couldn't believe that starter method did not work.

First make sure your belt is not making the noise. I would first change the belt. Then check this one: ua-cam.com/video/75gyvMLKIaA/v-deo.html
great work Max , that is a lot of nm of torque, need a good torque wrench with a bloody big bar 😅
Yes Allan, one of a kind bloody bolt 😀

Hi Brian, yes, It is difficult to tighten this one to the specs, 200 + 90 is probably +500 NM, as my 500NM would not open this either...
Exellent video.

Thanks for this great video. what is the socket size for the pulley screw ? Cheers !
27mm :)
Hi. Thanks for the video. What tools are you using at 1:42? It looks like 3 different tools. A ratchet and 2 others. Which are they please?
That's a dial indicator but you don't need that really.
@@BenzAddiction Thank you. But I mean what are you using to turn the pulley? What is attached to the ratchet? I need to adjust my crankshaft pulley to 305 degrees, but I don’t know what tool I need to actually turn it.
In other words, what size or type of socket are you using to turn the pulley? Where can i buy one?
@@joshb6361 27mm socket.
Why did you not show how you placed the strap around the pulley
For the starter relay part, what are you using to get in to the fuse? Mine are way tinier than yours, but the tool might work
Not sure what fuse you are talking about, if it is the fuel pump fuse, pull it out using pliers.

Yes, make sure the belt is in a good shape first.
@BenzAdddiction: do you know if one can also reinstall the crankshaft pulley with method no.1?
#1 is probably the best method for both removing and installing.

Sorry you have to google it.
How much mileage was on that pulley please?
@@sfax 200k km.
@@BenzAddiction Thanks, I'm at around 220k km, I'm changing tensioner and the other 2 pulleys, I just hope the crankshaft won't feel jealous :(
@sfax have you replaced your belt to see if it stops squeaking?

I so the new harmonic is shaking to
Easy fix now...
So scary
Why?
