I'll never understand how Carrie was all about these D&G furry strappy heels but then says "I don't wear furry shoes" and makes fun of the idea of them when she wears those Fredricks of Hollywood style furry heels with Berger!

Omg I love your videos. OK, its official. Those G&B fuzzies are the true urban shoe myth and we need answers! Thank you for covering this episode. You are so fun and witty! P.S. that satin dress is everything.

Our world is full of fascinating mysteries and so many interesting and important things going on every day and you are here talking about some "shoe answers". Seriously, woman!!!
yeah i agree amalita should have been in more episodes. but also unpopular opinion but when jeal is walking carrier home after dinner when they first met she tells him her money problems and that she's spends too much money and so does not have enough anymore. And so when they slept together I assumed he gave her the money to help her coast by, like he gave a her cushion , a really good cushion because $1000 was a lot back then , until her next pay day. i don't know I assumed that but my friends and like you have stated that he thought she was a sex worker
Agree. I always assumed he left her the money because she mentioned being “cash poor”, not because he thought she was some sort of prostitute. Also if Carrie wanted to get in touch with him again, she could have done so through Amalita.
i think definitely her mentioning the money stuff (one of the rare occassions it ever gets mentioned) and her association with Amalita probably tipped the situation over into 'ohhhhh, this is one of those 'girlfriends'' The Amalita types exist - I assume she'd eventually be a trophy 2nd wife somewhere. If you saw the French movie Priceless with Audrey Tautou, that's the Amalita world.
🤯🤯🤯 shocking to know those D&G shoes never existed, great video thanks for all the details I currently re watching SATC waiting for And just like that S2.
@@KasiaSopniewska Manolo’s are the most comfortable of the designer shoes, in my opinion. That said, the Mary Jane’s are sung in the toe area. I have to wear my toe spreaders after I take them off. I have a few pairs of Manolo’s in different styles and they aren’t as bad and the Mary Jane’s.
You’re correct -/they were totally different shoes as the ones seen thrown on the floor were her Jimmy Choos worn in Season 3, episode 1 “I lost my Choo” ( Jimmy).
I thoroughly enjoy your observations of the show, I’ve seen many of your videos and enjoy your work. I’d like to mention, I don’t agree whenever you use the term of “aged badly” because, none of the comments or actions of the show were meant to be controversial, it’s a showcase of conversations people were having back in those years, so the main purpose were not to “endure” as some sort of cultural phenomenon (which is what an audience does for a show, not a show for an audience) but to entertain, this series, as unrealistic as it is, it’s a portrayal of women who like to have fun and feel comfortable with each other to talk about anything, their conversations were just conversations of fictional characters, not political speeches. This was a show about women’s friendship, I don’t considere it to be political material. Best regards.
hey Alejandro, thank you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it. I do agree with you that SATC is a comedy/drama, and its main role was always to entertain... but also to shock. Especially at the beginning. The first two seasons were firmly based on Candace Bushnell's controversial column. And when the tv show was created, Darren Star aimed to capture the rawness and authenticity of her writing. So when I say something aged badly I mean it's either no longer that shocking or, even worse, it's just rude and disrespectful. The women's friendship thing starts in season 4 when MPK took over as the showrunner of SATC and he changed the overall vibe of the show. Really, watch the pilot episode and then the first episode of season four and you'll see a tremendous difference xx
the shoes and the store bag are labeled as D&G, its a separate line from the main dolce and gabbana line. my best guess its from spring 1998, there no pictures for this collection online but you probably can find it in magazines.
Carole Davis played a similar role (larger than life Italian [literal magical] problem solver) on the Buffy spinoff "Angel". The episode is a one-off called "The Girl In Question" so nobody needs to have really watched Buffy or Angel to enjoy the humor. It's really funny. She also has a UA-cam channel!✌
hi! I looked through all spring 1997 collections on firstview.com until I found it. but I was specifically searching for that pink dress so it wasn't that difficult, just time-consuming
@@KasiaSopniewska thank you!! Can you help me find what dress carrie is wearing in season 6 episode 12? When petrovsky calls her? The blue dress. Hahaha sorry random question 🤣
I genuinely don't understand those shoes. They look really cheap, and I wonder if you're right, that these are just fake shoes. But then I wonder... why? Did they just want an extremely frivolous looking shoe and no designer had them? The bag looks like something from Jennifer Coolidge's purse party in s6.
@mlmas700 slim chances. we are talking about season one, when they had a small costume budget, and the costume department struggled to even rent something, let alone have a designer collaboration.
Of course those ugly D&G shoes never existed. And look at the clothes hanging in that trying-to-be-a-D&G-store. I guess Patricia Field just grabbed all the stuff she had that looked close to D&G designs so that they could build that “boutique”. It’s first season, almost no one wanted to work with some unknown show about sex for cable TV... So they had to improvise) Pat herself stated that first two seasons were pretty tough, designed were not YET crazy about the show and didn’t beg to put their collections on girls. So D&G is totally fake. Pretty smart move I must say! Sending that signal that the show is hot, stories are cool, girls are fabulous and you (fashion brands) should be a part of our narration ;)
Amalita is my favorite supporting character of the entire show: She's classy, magnetic, pretty and extremely fun! I hate how the show tries to paint her personality as something negative, calling her bad names and etc. BTW Amalita is much nicer than Carrie. LOL
Amazing character, but Amalita Amalfi is such a fake-fake-fake Italian name and her Italian is too imperfect not to notice. I don't know if it's Spanish either but to most Italians Amalita would sound Spanish-y. Amalfi is a plausible family name, but then too much allitteration + the reference to the dramatically beautiful coastal town turns it into a fictional-sounding, fictionally glamorous combination. The accent of a bubbly Italian speaking bubbly English, though, that's glorious - all over the place but funny 😃. For me, as an Italian, listening to her and her name was kind of distracting... couldn't the writers research a little more on convincing names and very basic Italian grammar? 😥It's not such a niche culture/language that no one would notice Of course one has the right to call their children with non-traditional names and Amalita is fine in Italy and everywhere, I say it because it looks to me like a "cheap" choice from the writers. And sorry for the rambling, I love words and names and I could talk about them forever. Anyway, why wasn't she featured again, that's a crime.
amalita is my favorite side character! as for the shoes, i think season 01: fake D&G vs. season 06: real and made for the show in a very limited rare collection, like 2 pairs exist.

Don’t know if this has been explained yet, so forgive me if it has. But the reason you couldn’t find those D&G shoes is because it’s not Dolce Gabbana, D&G is there diffusion line. Its *much* less recorded than the mainline so thats why its hard to find specific things from. It only ran from 1994 to 2011 I believe 🤍
