- In this video, we are going to be analyzing Charlotte York's style from Sex and the City. We will be going over the old money aesthetic, incorporating your own sense of style into an aesthetic, what it means to curate a wardrobe as art, how to identify an authentic luxurious fabric, and the psychology of tradition in relation to identity. Through understanding her sense of style you will see how to apply knowledge of aesthetics and art to create a timeless fashion sense as well as how to embrace cultural heritage and pay respect to tradition while maintaining self-expression within your style. #LILYSILK #LiveSpectacularly #SexAndTheCity #OldMoneyAesthetic

Charlotte's look is so timeless. You could put her at any point over the last 30 years and she wouldn't look (too) out of place. Great video as always!
I particularly enjoy when people create a classy aesthetic with thrift shopping. Elegant, affordable and sustainable. That I admire. Quality means you can wear your clothes for a long time and get creative with how you style it.
Satin is a type of weave structure, while silk is the fiber that composes the fabric
You'd think a "stylist" would know fabrics! SMH
Always learn something new, thanks! Always thought satin was synthetic!!!
Who thinks Charlotte york and Natasha Naginsky are both alike in style & background ♥️
Yes but their personalities are different, Charlotte is bubbly, childlike and romantic, from what we see of Natasha she is more shy, demure and mature but kind.
When Carrie cheats with Big and accidentally runs into Charlotte, the confrontation scene shows that Charlotte was pretty upset. Mainly because she was getting married and viewed marriage as pretty sacred, but I wouldn't be surprised if the writers had Charlotte act so bothered by Carrie's affair because her and Natasha do have some similarities.
@@Angel-ts8rcplus Natasha is more white and beige(sometimes pink). Charlotte has more color scheme. She’s not afraid to wear red and blue.
Both woulda been trump supporters thats sad 😂
Charolette and Natasha have similar styles and I feel we’re raised a lot similar than Carrie, Miranda or Samantha.
Charlotte looked like Audrey Hepburn in the pink dress and black sunglasses. I wish they had styled her more like that, as it really brings her to life,
Charlotte is the best.
Truly !!! So happy sbout this video
Charlotte is my favorite. I love her positivity about love and she always looks like a lady.
Me too.
As a french-canadian, I was looking forward for some cues about confessionnal fashion. I'm glad I can finally better identify protestant fashion and translate this knowledge in an increased understanding of films and series, thanks to your video. I'll keep reading novels from protestants and catholics authors and learn about american history. As an atheist, it's appreciated to be able to situate the background and beliefs of who's speaking. Thanks a lot.
this is confusing. what do you mean?
This is a very interesting video. All of us could benefit by taking more care in the ways that we present ourselves to the world. This starts at home. Thank you for this very informative discussion. I am very happy to share this.
Another amazing video Michelle!!! Love that you have added your own lookbook elements in which just adds to the video!!!
9:22 satin is a weave not a material... satin can be silk and vice versa. Loved the rest of this video though!
Charlotta is the prettiest of them all. I was not happy with the decision of movie-makers to marry her out to that fat bold guy. No, not because he was bold & fat, but because he immediately started taking her for granted, and was behaving like a jerk. She deserved a nice, kind & caring man, who would not force her to give up her religion in order to suit him better, and after her sacrifice just neglect her.
Most men expect women to give up something to suit them better. Even the “nice, kind and caring ones.”
@@lianidlilly correct
I disagree. He didn’t force her to give up anything. He told her he couldn’t marry anyone who wasn’t Jewish and she CHOSE to convert because she wanted to be with him. And I never ever saw him take her for granted. He was crazy about Charlotte. But she was definitely the prettiest, classiest, and most feminine of the group.
I am so glad I found your channel. This is such a refreshing take on Charlotte, her personality, and her style. I feel like she gets overlooked a lot by people when it comes to fashion. I checked out your blog and tried finding the text you used in the video. Couldn't. But thanks for such a detailed video. (Subscribed!)
I always loved Charlotte style SATC so i dont get the new style in the new series like the 80, by the way you looked very good with that blouse
If you’re looking for video ideas, you could do one about business wear and the levels of formality (business casual, business formal, etc).
Charlotte's beauty and charm are downplayed in the show imo. I think the same for Monica Gellar and Blair Waldorf. Serena is shown as an it girl that any guy would die to date, same with Rachel or sometimes carrie/Samantha, although, in carrie and Sam's case, it's not as extreme and unrealistic.
I absolutely adore your style! Would you ever consider making a video of your favorite clothing pieces?
She was showing someone else's style!
Love this video! I’ve always admired Charlotte’s style and belief in love.
Your videos are always such a treat both for soul and mind, thank you ❤
I started to watch you again today and I'm obsessed!!
Charlotte will always be my favorite character.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 💗💗💗
Congrats on ur sponsorship ❤🎉
Can you do style analysis of each of the desperate housewives please!! Particularly Bree and Gabby!!
12:11 Something about that polo sweater look is so chic and timeless. Thanks for the video.
This is why I looooveeee this channel!!! ♥️♥️♥️
she always reminded me of jackie kennedy… great video as always!
*wonderful video. i had personally bought pieces that were A'la Charlotte. your china cabinet is very Char too.* 🍽
this is brilliant! so informative and inspiring! love it
I love Charlotte and I love style analysia so this was perfect.
Thank you Michelle!
Would you consider making a video about Miranda?
Charlotte is literally the most normal character of the group
Not a fan of the old money stuff for what it represents and implicates, but i always loved Charlotte style. S&TC has its tares but the styling wasn’t one of them.
What does it represent and implicate?
I like when people invest in good clothes, wear them a long time and thereby contribute to the environment. Or thrift shop and give some good original pieces new life.
@@purplelove3666 this person seems to have a problem with nepotism and rich people who've been rich throughout generations... basically people who manage their money and families correctly.
Only a dumb person would just let all their hard work be squandered away.
You should so do a video on Angelina Jolies style. So underrated
can you do a video on the character's fashion in insecure?
Yes! I’m actually on season 3 at the moment and taking notes on the looks as I watch 🖤
can you do video on each of the euphoria characters fashion (especially jules) please?
She was always my favorite character. I loved that she put family first. Of course they ruined her in AJLT like everyone else. But i just pretend the series stopped at SATC :D And her style has always been my favorite, simple and chic, sexy but not trashy.
❤ perfect Michelle
can you do a video on carrie!!!
She’s my favorite
Old money fashion of elegance is dish😊
have you ever heard about varying the tone of voice when reading a text aloud? this is impossible to listen and understand the text.
Are you wearing a wig? You look so beautiful and I'm just wondering because your hair always looks so perfect!
Aw thank you! Yes, I worked with a woman who specializes in human hair wigs for cancer, alopecia, etc to get a fuller look and sometimes I wear extensions from LUXY hair for that bombshell sort of style 🖤
I hate sounding rude but the frying voice narrating makes it difficult to listen to. That fake voice trend need to disappear.
Does actually having the security of having money feature in this stuff. So not just dressing like u have cash but having cash . Ppl with cash want to marry ppl with cash ,education or Pedigree. Ppl with some merit or cash has a certain body language too . Different life style choices.
old eastern european money
that and she was voted most popular
certified
Thank you so much!! I love this video!! I 'am the Charlotte in my group of friends. and I love her endless style! Thank you your videos are always brilliant!
I don't know why you speak like that but it is very hard understand😅
Madam, I speak Spanish. UA-cam is a tool that I use to improve my English, and I still struggle with certain accents or slang, and I can understand her. Perfectly.
Great video, but can we stop with the old money thing. The term when referring to Americans literally means people who came from or can trace their lineage back to settlers and planter families who can to America on ships and became wealthy from farming, slavery and the American revolution. I don’t think Charlotte is related to George Washington. Words like classic, chic, elegant, refined, etc.. are great and much better at describing this kind of style
In the USA, to be old money its having wealth for 3 generations compared to European which is typically at least 6 generations ( around 200 years more or less). Families like the Hearst family initially made their money through the mining industry in California and later the publishing industry. It is the 12th richest family in the USA with wealth of around 28 Billion. The Johnson and Johnson Family built their health care industry in the 1880's and is an incredibly wealth family.
Most of the great wealth in the US was created from the 1870's forward, so the wealth was not created through enslaved peoples. As a side note of the 12 million enslaved people during the Slave Trade, only 500,000 of these came to the US or 4% of the total numbers of enslaved people during the Atlantic Slave Trade. The other 96% went to the Caribbean and South America- Brazil had the highest percentage. There are still countries in Africa that still sell human beings, so it is still going on.
With the above, there were some very ruthless people and child labor existed until the early part of the 20th century. So, working conditions were harsh for many immigrants until the early part of the 20th century.
ADICTIVO
This video was pointless
Charlotte would never wear any of those outfits
If only she didn’t marry Harry and become a J. Then we wouldn’t have to hear the Israel references to what would have been a perfect character.
Why does it irks you?
I'm obsessing over the many looks you pulled in this video 😍😍😍 so inspirational 🤎🖤🩶🤍
