    UPDATE: So after using the Vortex Pro Cabin on the ice for the first time, I still found the door poles were too short. So I filled out a warrenty claim on the Otter website and not even 24 hours later the claim was approved and I was informed new poles will be sent out to me, at no charge of course.
    So, like I said, I heard good things about Otter customer support and so far they've lived up to that!

    I got mine yesterday and used for the first time today. I had 2 extra packs of poles then realized the others were replacements for the long poles that were too short 🤣

    A lot of people have had the issue with the door poles being to short, wonder if Otter fixed it yet

      My guess is probably. I went through their customer service portal on the website and they had replacement poles in the mail within a week, no questions asked. Im happy enough with that. Otter customer service was top notch

    Hello I am currently debating buying this. Looking for something I can either set up and fish out of alone or with 1-2 buddies. Is this easy and quick to set up alone? How portable is it? Thank you! Great video.

      Thanks so much!
      The Otter Vortex Cabin Pro is AWESOME! It's super easy to set up by myself, it's more than big enough for 2 people, and you could get 3 people for sure if you're deliberate about where you place each person's hole. It's really warm and holds the heat very well (as you would expect out of a thermal pop up hut). I use a standard size Buddy heater and even on the few really cold days I was out, I had to turn it off occasionally because I was getting too warm.
      The full door is really nice and now that I have a hut with it, I could never go back to a hut without it. It's just way too convenient and nice. Otter did send me new poles to replace the door support ones in the video that were too short really fast and the customer service was on point when dealing with it. I basically told them what was wrong, and they sent me new poles, no questions asked.
      Im still pulling my sled on foot and I went from a Frabill Hq100, a pretty small and light hut, to this one and the size and weight difference is definitely noticeable when pulling it. I also had to buy a bigger sled, my pelic trek60 barely fit the hut, let alone the hut and all my other gear.
      10/10 recommend this hut to anyone looking at it.

    So the extra poles you had inside your house at beginning were not the correct replacement size either? I have the same issue, gotta see if the replacement ones were the right size still. Looks like they were added to the box after it was originally boxed up but we’ll see

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  Рік тому

      They aren't replacement poles, they are stabilizing poles for the full door. The ones that came with my hut were just a bit too short and Otter customer support was very quick to recognize the issue and comment to sending replacements. (I'm talking less than 24 hours after submitting my claim)

      @@jeffdicks That’s what I meant , short door supports. It’s a very common issue apparently because I had it as well as some guy on the Scheel’s reviews. Mine came with a second small bag which I think are the correct size but sounds like they weren’t for you? What’s in that other bag then, more poles that are too short?

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  Рік тому

      Nah there was only the pole bag and the bag that had the anchors in mine

    Is this tent bigger than the eskimo quickfish 3 ? And is it big enough for 1 or 2 people sleeping in it

    • @jeffdicks
      @jeffdicks  5 місяців тому +1

      I've never used an Eskimo Quickfish 3, but according to the specs, it has 34 square feet of fishable space, while the Otter Vortex Pro Cabin has 48 square feet of fishable space.
      The Otter is definitely bigger. As for sleeping, I haven't tried it yet, but people have told me here in the comments that a full sized cot does fit in the Vortex Pro Cabin, albeit barely. So I would say that one person sleeping with some minimal gear would do well in the Otter, but 2 people sleeping is probably not going to work. 2 people fishing, however, is just fine. The Otter is more than big enough for 2 people and plenty of gear to fish comfortably.

      I haven't done an overnight in the Cabin yet, but based on the measurements, my army cot SHOULD just barely fit inside. I'll be testing this soon, so come back later to see that quick video!

      I’ve done overnights in mine. Cot barely fits but it’s good to go, get a fan to help circulation with your heater and you’re golden. Take minimal gear with you and you can fit a lawn chair and a cot at the same time in your cabin.

    Nice shack. You’re going to need to build a smitty sled with all that extra weight.

      This is the first Otter product I've owned, but aside from the door pole issue, this hut is amazing. I'd say it's 100% worth the upgrade just for the full door alone. I'm not even kidding when I say it cut my setup time in half by just now having to contort myself to fit through a triangle door with gear in both hands.
      As for the poles, it was disappointing to have that issue out of the box, but like I said in the pinned update comment, they got back to my warranty claim in less than 24 hours with a commitment to send replacement poles. So, while it's unfortunate that I have to wait a little bit, they were super quick to fix the problem at no cost to me, which speaks volumes. I've had bigger issues with gear before where the manufacturer basically said "too bad so sad" and would only ship replacement parts at MY cost.
      Overall, I'm super happy with the tent.
