Thanks Jeff, nice review. What about mounting another removable skeg up front for windy days? I like it a lot for a throw and go. Looking forward to purchasing the 106.
Good job on editing, I have a lot to learn. I guess bad shit just doesn't happen to me. Lol
What a simple way of tying a drop shot knot I will be trying it out tomorrow
Have you used it while ice fishing? If so how did it perform?
I looked at this last night. The weight capacity was shockingly low to me in their listed specs. The new iatak 110 has like a 600lb load capacity.
So if I have a military ID I don’t need a fishing license ?? Is that valid in every state?
That is a policy for fishing regulations in Ontario, Canada. Residents of Ontario that have their NDI20 or NDI75 do not need to purchase an outdoors card or fishing license to fish here. Non-ontario residents, military, veteran or otherwise still have to buy them. I'm not familiar with the different state regulations for the United States. Your best bet is to look up the regs for whatever state your in.
Great knot, thanks for sharing
Subscribed and I don't do that very often, just got my first license set, found a medium-light budget rod at Canadian tire, never fished before. You helped make the decision to take the plunge. Started camping crown land recently, and reminded me I always wanted to try fishing. Looking forward to more beginners videos. Do you know any good lakes or crown land spots you don't mind sharing to fish ? and also any lure kits you would recommend on amazon for beginners?
Dude I fish at Kingston mills all the time I would love to be able and fish down there with you
You can run box tape over it to laminate it if you wanted. Cheap and easy.
Nice review. I've tried a number of cheap to mid-range inflatable kayaks over years for their portability and ease of storage. My complaints were always low, uncomfortable seating with no back support on spongy inflatable seats. That coupled with thick side tubes led me (6'1") to feel like I was paddling at shoulder level. Then the spongy floor and instability just led to uncomfortable boating and very inconvenient fishing. The Kuda seems to have solved all these issues. Think 10.6 is way to go to keep it portable. List price is way too high. This is not the same quality as their high-end whitewater rafts. But on the sales I've heard/seen of $675-750 it seems reasonable.
This is the review I was looking for on this exact unit. Planning on buying this unit and the one with gunnels.
so you never decided which one was better???
Neither of them is "better" than the other. They are, for the most part identical with the only difference being the design of the floatation on the back. For me, the Raku suited my needs better with the full back design than the Chinook's half back. It's all about your preference!
Wow, how simple is that, thank you!!!
Mine was never cleaned. If just not reengage after using it for awhile. WTH?
Nice background music!
Super easy to follow, great instructions thanks!
I'm buying one of these since they're on sale right now on NRS' site. They do not come with a paddle. I will need to buy a paddle and would like to get a nice paddle. These are rather wide kayaks, what size paddle are you using in the video? I'm 5'11" and have pretty wide shoulders with long arms and want to get a paddle that will comfortably clear the sides of the boat.
I have a Bending Branches Angler Pro 240cm adjustable paddle. I'm 5,'9" with pretty wide shoulders too. Highly recommend. Light, super tough and a breeze to paddle with. Pairs perfectly with a light a portable setup like the Kuda106 or 126.
@@jeffdicks Awesome. That's about the size I was looking at. I'll check it out. Thanks for the quick reply.
Best video
How about tourist?
This is a great knot, but the line crosses over the cut in the wire on the eye of the hook causing it to break on hook sets or snags at random. Why can't a hook manufacturer simply extend the wire of the eye down the shank a few millimeters so that that part of the knot lays against smooth wire not the cut of the eye? They could even taper it. It would only have extend a few millimeters. You could probably get away without having a weld in there as long as it layed tight against the shank. Problem solved, no more messing around with the unpredictable polymer knot. Just my 2 cents.
It's true, you dk have to be careful when cinching it down or you will get one line over the eyelet. The new VMC Redline hooks are actually exactly like what you said we need. Specifically the dropshot versions. They have a resin coat over the eyelet where the loop meets the shank of the hook and protects the line from those sharp edges. Very forgiving hooks to use for that reason alone, but VMC hooks in general are just very good quality too, the Redline lineup are just on another level
Yes I agree with you, but the line needs to sit tight right at the bottom of the loop of the eye so that they don't slip over it. Will that drop of plastic allow it to? I've never used this hook so I don't know. I think extending the wire and even tapering it might not be a bad idea, as long as the edges of the taper are smooth. Again, I love this knot, but that seems to be the only weakness and seems to happen more with larger hooks. I've had it happen with a fresh rig on the first hook set. I've also fished all day with it and had no problems. I use 10lb red label.
@jeffsmith9047 yes, the resin drop on the VMC Redline hooks completely covers the eyelet where it meets the hook shank. I highly recommend trying them! www.rapala.ca/ca_en/rsds-redline-series-drop-shot
I'll definitely check them out. Thank you sir.
Got the hooks today. I tied the knot with 6lb test then with 10, the lines that run under the eye slip over it now because of the resin, It will stand straight out but now the hook can move up or down and stay either way. Without that dab of resin the knot will sit low on the eye like it needs to and the cross lines will sit snug against the bottom of the eye. My idea of extending the wire down the shank a bit more with a taper would be way better. The eye could be a little more round to keep the cross lines under it too. The lines under the eye are the one of the reasons this knot works so good. It's just the cut in the wire the ruins it.
Sooo you didn’t buy a new transducer??
Probably a dumb question. If I’m a non resident and fishing within a single BMZ I cannot catch and use my own bait?? I must buy it?
The regulations state, "Anglers are only permitted to personally harvest baitfish and leeches in the BMZ where their primary residence is located". If you are a non resident of Ontario, then I would read that as you are not permitted to catch your own live bait and you have to purchase it. There is a stipulation about bait caught in the great lakes, but to be absolutely sure, I recommend reaching out to the ministry to get the answer from them.
Thank you for responding! I will do that 😊
For "un-chlorinated" water you can use distilled water (available in the grocery store next to regular water) or you can also use carbon-filtered tap water (like a Brita). The problem with chlorine is it's highly reactive and will easily form sodium chloride, which isn't toxic but would reduce the process of electrolysis of brine from the salt solution. So if you have no choice to use water with chlorine, just know that it'll take longer than 24 hours in the fridge. Thanks Jeff!
Great Job Jeff-good luck with the channel. Just subbed.
thanks very easy and quick
Nice video. Sub'd.
Really needed to hear this. Been fishing for a week and a half and I've caught absolutely nothing. Was starting to wonder if I was even capable of something like this but not anymore. I'm gonna keep at it till I get one. Thanks!
Best review of any type of boat I have ever seen. I spent 25 years in the bass boat business. At 65 years old I gave up on a 10 & 12’ big name yaks because I couldn’t handle putting them on top of my car that I pulled behind my motorhome. Now 12 years later you got me thinking again about this rig. Thanks for your input.
So easy to tie, thank you
Nice video Jeff
Actually, in Taobao (Or Alibaba) there is a similar inflatable with peddle drive and sold for about $500. it is 133.8" long and 46.8" wide, so pretty cool, ny thing is you have to buy it in China and bring it back.
great review but man, i have trust issues. i don't see myself using an inflatable kayak. but storage and mobility makes it a great competitor of hard shell kayaks
i recently got the 126 and love it! i did a walk through and fishing trip on my channel last week. i liked it so much i ordered a Pike for my bride. sometimes traveling with the kayak trailer is a pain, this gives us options!
Great review. Honestly, i own a 106. I wish I had purchased the 126, but i absolutely love this little inflatable. I live in an apartment, on the second floor, so a hard kayak is not possible. I LOVE mine.
I love this kayak and use mine all the time. The only downside to having an inflatable is that you have to be careful when landing spikey fish like bluegill. At some point they will put a tiny tiny hole into the unprotected portion of the deck with their fins if you drop them or land them on the deck. Keep them in a net off to the side and you never have to worry about this. But that is the downside of any fishing inflatable. Not just this one. Kuda is my second favorite kayak and my favorite portable kayak.
I doubt a fish as small as a bluegill would pop a hole in it. Certainly a large fish, knife, sharp stick in water might.

@@aa-ron. I've fished out of lots of inflatables.
Really thorough review, thanks
Nice review. Looks like a lot of fun and a good boat to get into some tight locations. Good to see a Canadian perspective. Thanks for the video.
So happy to see some one review the kuda 106 and you did a great job with it. I am a 77 year old senior and can not handle a heavy plastic yak and I have no way of transporting it or storing a big kayak. After checking out the inflatable market I felt the NRS had the best product that meats my needs, so I have purchased the 106 and look forward to many hours of fishing enjoyment. Thanks again for your review and I look forward to future videos that you do with your 106.
Thanks so much! I'm really glad my video helped you out! If it's within your budget, I'd highly recommend a good electric pump as well. The manual pump that comes with it works very well, but if you're going to be inflating and deflating it often, an electric pump that inflates automatically to a desired pressure that can also deflate will make the whole process a lot easier for you!
@@jeffdicksUp date, I had my first outing with the kuda 106 and everything went well. I even landed a nice small mouth to top off the outing. Yes I am going to get a pump, do you recommend any one pump? Thank again for your review of the kayak, and have a great day. John
Just ordered my Kuda 106 on the NRS Spring Sale (ends soon). I saved for a year and am upgrading from the Intex K1 after two years with it. I am super excited.
You're going to LOVE it! It's a sweet kayak!
Great review. I picked one up over the weekend and can't wait to try it out myself. What battery were you using on the front gopro.
Thanks so much! It's an amazing kayak. The battery I was using was just a rugedized battery bank that has a decent amount of water resistance and a small solar panel. I don't remember the brand name and it's not printed on the actual battery. It's very similar to these ones from Amazon (not an affiliate link) a.co/d/2N7cw9v
Bahahaha, I've done this fella😂😂😂
Why the water????
I switched a 2012 that only had ethanol used in it to nonoxy
Premium fuel is a must especially in cars with small engines and turbos. If I use anything but premium, I get turbo error codes. Lose power. Gums up. Etc. Premium. Plus you get better mileage. Period.
Premium fuel isn’t cleaner
I use exclusively lowest recommended octane in all my vehicles and it also looks the same. I don’t lose any performance and it’s cheaper lol.
from my personal experience with motorcycles, cars, boats, and whatever else I choose playing with, I find the better fuels come from the newer cleaner, gas stations
I use nothing but premium and in Canada alot of premium still has ethanol in it and find them up
I believe all fuel has up to 10% ethanol in it in Canada
Use what your engine calls for. Premium isn't better lol. It's has a different octan level. It's meant for engins that run higher compression.. Its not better, its different.
