Insulated Thermal Tent Camping
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 гру 2020
- Beautiful wife has gotten me an insulated ice fishing tent for an early Christmas present! We tested it out camping on WAY too windy of a day, and nothing really went as planned. If anyone is curious this tent is an Otter Vortex, and we got it from Cabela's. I will do a more complete review of the tent in the upcoming videos. Cheers everyone!

Love that you watch Steve!
Hey Joe!

Omg i love ur channel
Steve, you have no idea how much you help me emotionally through quarantine, lock down and the entire situation. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. Thank you.
Same here

100 likes! Wow, thats the most likes i've ever seen on a post of mine. But yea, I guess it shows more people feel that way.
That’s so awesome!
Steve I watched your video the day before quarantine in March. I said WTF I'm not going to stay at yso left NC, went to arkansas and camped for 2 mths, Free in buffalo river. Fuck the gov, I live my own life.n
We all need someone in our life like this man..he has a calmness about him and it's effect on one's mood is better than Xanax!
lay off the xanax
Let’s not get carried away here
I saw someone say Steve makes Bob Ross seem full of angst. I found that amusing
The little smile I see on his face when he cooks up a meal or finishes setting up his tent/hammock makes me very happy. I guess it's just really nice to see someone genuinely enjoying themselves and being happy with some basic stuff on a whacky camping trip. Love ya Steve. I'll be donating to the beer fund after the holidays.
Hey everyone! Things kind of went wrong with everything on this video, the joys of unscripted content haha, there will be a better thermal tent video and review coming up real soon, I got this one up to not leave anyone hanging. Cheers!!
You should dig a hole and bivouac into it for a video. That's some serious hunkering.

It will do Steve 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Steve, Im Hungry!!
Thanks for the video Steve!
Steve your attitude towards the inconveniences of camping at times is the best.
You're beautiful wife is a gem.
Great team effort.
Safe travels

RIP beautiful wife 😢
Your new tent is a thoughtful and amazing gift from Beautiful Wife. The scenery was wonderful...and windy!!
Even though we never see her I am always glad when 'Beautiful Wife' I am calling her Sheven comes out! It is really cool that she likes doing this with you. Best part of my Thursday every week.
Any woman who would let you go camping when you want, film it, put it on UA-cam, and go with you has to be a wonderful woman. You, sir, are a lucky man. Thank you Mrs. Wallis for letting us go on these adventures with y'all, it truly means a lot to me and others.
There is a tonn of womens that having camp channels on youtube.
@@yannikoloff7659 OK, that's cool and all, but that's not what I was referring to. I am giving Steve a compliment and thanking his wife for allowing him to do these things and share them with us. I think you misunderstood my comment, my friend.
I always invest in a separate ground sheet to pitch my tent on. A cheap plastic tarp is good enough. Keeps more moisture and mud etc off the bottom of your nice tent.makes packing up easier.
WOW what a backdrop!!!! Breathtakingly beautiful. Love these regular camping videos!!
Your videos make me proud to be Canadian. You’re so humble and down to earth. Thank you for showing off a part of our beautiful country 😊
You know what I can't stand about Steve? Nothing. He's bloody lovely. Big love from UK.

You know what the best part of these video’s is? It’s REALLY Steve, what you see is what you get. I know him personally and he is the most unassuming, laid back, give you the shirt off his back kind of guy!!! He’s a true to heart human.

Well g'day mate.. welcome to america... homeless with style.. love. Bless you
I love how you make camping so accessible to everyone. You are so down to Earth that I am inspired to do the same. Please keep going! I love your shows. Thank you so much!
I would watch Steve's videos just for the sound of his voice, so relaxing. He sounds just like Mike Rowe of the Dirty Jobs tv series. I also was very interested in hearing about this insulated pop-up tent, thinking of buying an insulated one. And that scenery is breathtaking! Don't worry about things not going smoothly while camping Steve, that's realistic and makes one think about solutions. Once when I was young, my ex-husband and I went camping in the Western area of Washington state, which is technically a rain forest. It was raining very hard which was normal for most camping trips in our area, and we woke up in the middle of the night, because it suddenly felt wet and a small river of water had started running through the middle of our tent. We had to get up and pitch our tent in a higher dryer location. Good thing it wasn't a flash flood. 😆
Steve I know comments like this get made a lot but... I want to thank you and importantly beautiful wife for allowing/encouraging your camping. In a world of such negativity your videos are a beacon to remember better people and times are not lost. I’ve been a loyal fan for years and can’t wait to see many more years to come !
What I've used for high wind situations, especially where it's hard to get stakes in, is the spiral stakes people use for dogs. You can use a log to get the leverage to get them in, and you only need a few to be sure your tent won't blow away.
Downside is, compared to traditional stakes they're enormous.
Steve got a genuine smile and it hits your core when he smiles at the camera. Hunker down brother
What a gorgeous camp site wow. Great video Steve!!! Absolutely addicted to this channel, very calming to watch before bed.
That was majestic. One of the most beautiful places on the planet that I've seen. Camping isn't always perfect, but is always great.
Been watching 4 minutes and already I forgot my woes, I think it is your voice Steve, it is very soothing. Love the spot you found to camp it is stunning, even Joe says so, lol. Stay well Steve, and you Joe.
What a beautiful view-another enjoyable camping adventure!
Wrap the plastic handles with aluminum foil and that always works to keep them from melting. Do several layers and keep it loose. It keeps your hand from getting burned too.
Good to know.
Great day. First a Foresty Forest upload, now Steve. Already cracked my Step 2 and ready to lean back and enjoy the weekly Wallis! 😁🍺
No 40 kilometer hikes here, but great content nonetheless!
"Going to eat this and get to bed Right Away, Right Away" as Beautiful Wfe is standing in the doorway waiting for him. Awesome adventures, from Michigan, Steve!
Steve , I think you mean Anthony Bourdain .
I enjoyed that time lapse, Steve. It's always amazing how even in the crappy situations you remain calm and collected.
Agree. Reactions of people make or break a situation.
Oh my heavens! How beautiful! With a full moon to boot!

Living vicariously through you steve! Don't ever stop being you!!
I use the bit smaller version of that, but it's ALWAYS a great idea to tie each corner down to keep them from "popping" in, and then inside you have tie downs as well in each corner. Works great. We had 50mph winds one night and It didn't budge. LOVE camping in my ice shelter!!
The fact that it withstood the wind is a pretty good testament.
"Regular camping" with a Bob Ross painting in the background.
Steve is the Bob Ross of camping.
I've got to check out this 'Bob Ross' art. Several of you have mentioned him. "Not bad scenery". Haaahaa!

This guy is down to earth. This is like ASMR. Very soothing voice.
Steve you never leave us hanging and we appreciate that. Love you man!
Can’t believe anyone would come to a video just to dislike it, yall need therapy. Love you Steve
@Masster Gunnz Yeah its all good for Steve, but the OP said nothing of that. Like he said, someone who clicks on a video just to dislike it seems like they actually have problems.
Whats crazy to me is theres literally nothing to dislike lol
U prob need therapy people can have an opinion
@@Pantherocroco You're not following. If someone has an opinion on a video they havent even seen and know nothing about, then yes, they have a problem. Having opinions is fine. Disliking a video is fine...once you know about it and have seen it...durr.
I find it pleasantky reassuring that we don't all think alike. THAT would be seriously creepy.
i love how honest you are. For example, you made several mistakes, but you did not edit a single one of them out.
In fact, you EMPHASIZED what you did wrong (the coleman stove with weak flame, the cheap Target pots and pans with plastic handles, etc) and then explained WHY they were a mistake and what you would do differently.
Steve, those are mistakes that I would certainly have made, but you suffered through it so mI would not.
You are awesome, dude!
You really should use a coleman white gas stove in cold weather. No more temperature expansion issues and great performance. There are some great older model single burners, but if you're just looking for a new unit, their 533 sportster stove is a great model. You can usually snag them online for around 90 bucks. Check it out!
And if you want a larger cook surface/two burners, and don't mind the extra space and weight, their suitcase stoves are great as well.
"Stitchmanship" is not a word but it is now.

We just need to convince half of us to put on our masks, wash our hands etc... Nobody is letting us in till we clean up.
Visit?! Pshh I'm planning to escape to Canada and never return to US!!! I'd take those views over a city ANYDAY!!
So glad you didn't blow away. I had a similar experience camping in Bandera,tx. Got woken up in the middle of the night by high winds, scared the crap out of me. I appreciate how you cooked something special for the misses and had your steak separate. Also I'm glad you have videos of y'alls adventures together. Your love is obvious in every video. Cheers Steve
ALWAYS set up your tent at home before you head out; you want to make sure that everything is included and it all works, and if that tent had a stove jack, it would be perfect. Great video, Steve!
Yep, never forget to anchor your tent 👍I once chased mine for 5 miles down the lake, without a snowmobile I never would have got it!

Once again, camping in front of a background that looks more stunning than any painting I could imagine. You have quite the life there Steve. Keep on hunkering down!
@Satyromaniac I have seen MUCH painting. I’ve been around the world and seen MUCH painting. Many MUCH painting I have seen.
Still, this background is ridiculous. It’s a MUCH amazing background
I am sure Steve makes money off UA-cam views, UA-cam merchandise and off his sponsors in paid promotions and donations in order to travel so much while living out there on the road. At least he is enjoying life in beautiful territory in Canada. It is possible for others to do this but I am sure getting started would not give a lot of funding. I find it amazing that he is able to do what he loves to do living on the land. Most people would not be able to financially be able to do this if they have a home and bills to pay but then this can provide great opportunity for a camping homeless drifter (not in the sense of a homeless person that has absolutely nothing) but has some money to get started and the intelligence to be able to make enough money while doing excellent videos over time.
I have the money and knowledge to make money out there, the equipment to get started, a really nice RV with a 12,000 watt solar panel system, 16 hour battery bank to run everything needed if in a jam, spare solar equipment with built in panels and a wide variety of camping supplies. Water craft and amazing truck with everything I own totally paid off. I would absolutely love doing what he does but I have a major issue, it's called a permanent home with a wife and kids who can't travel with work and school therefore a ton of monthly bills. I would not be able too. With all this said, I admire Steve and actually pretty jealous actually. I think most of us are. He really does have the most amazing opportunities people could only dream of doing. Though my wife who is a nurse and kid old enough to do things on his own and does, I am starting to plan on taking my RV up into Canada as soon as the pandemic clears a bit and is safe but unlike Steve who has all the time in the world, I could only get out for 4 weeks a month due to a monthly obligation that I need to spend at least one day a month back home in order to fulfill a monthly appointment. But I really wished I could spend 3 months at least like what Steve does, he is a inspiration to all. Nova Scotia is indeed my first Canadian trip but I think I like Alberta Canada a bit more with those gorgeous mountain backgrounds without question.
@Satyromaniac ... Without question, there is places such as in the north west North American regions, throughout Canada and Alaska all that is amazing like this with those picture perfect regions as well as other similar regions around the world like the highlands of Scotland, Ireland and Wales to name a few but I must admit, Alaska and Canada has some of the most breath taking regions in the entire universe indeed. If you have interest, more inland around the Rocky mountains in Colorado are also picture perfect and amazing also.
I was selected for one of the National teams / Olympic teams back in 88 and 92 decades back right out of high school as though I qualified, my parents would not let me join until leaving high school so I had to graduate first. Anyways, with growing up in Miami though I traveled for tournaments, I never had the opportunity to live in mountainous regions nor spent hardly anytime ever around snow even being from South Florida. The only Olympic training facility is in Colorado springs so this opened the doors to reside in the Rocky mountain region to experience all this. I am just suggesting this area to you if you ever do get a chance to travel to experience such a location, I really encourage you to go here or certain regions of the Pacific Northwest such as here in Alberta, Oregon or Alaska.
You've made Thursday my favorite day.
Those mountains are amazing! I'm from Australia and we don't have anything like that here. Thanks for the beautiful camp spot Steve.

Hey Steve, love all your videos! Have you ever thought of ditching the butane stove and going with an old school Coleman 502 single burner stove? Since you only use one pot for your cooks, this might be a great option for you. Not only is it smaller than the butane stove you carry, it is a white gas stove that will keep running in the colder climates compared to the butane canisters that you had issues with. All you would need to do is get yourself a fuel bottle to carry the white gas with you and you are all set.
Keep up all the great work and see you on your next video.
