Caught in the rain on my Shovelhead!

- I decided to boot out to Kelowna to check out a car show, not much left by the time I got there though.
Thought I could make it back before this big rain storm blew in but I ended up getting caught in the middle of it instead!
Thank goodness for a nearby pub serving hot soup and tea... all and all, the chilly ride just makes the tea taste that much better.

Sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
I read all comments on my videos and reply to as many as I can, and that takes up almost all my free time.
Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos! paypal.me/redridercanada?coun...
You & the shovelead make a beautiful combination. If you don't get caught in the rain occasionally you're not riding enough!
Thanks forr taking us with you on this ride - sometimes we do get wet but we all - bikes and babes like yourself - look all the better for it.... regards from England !
1.74k subs and commercials, congrats, I think you made it! Of course we have to suffer the commercials but if it helps keep you on then it is worth it. Another good drawing, much enjoyed, thank your Dad.
Back when I was a bit younger than you I got a speeding ticket. I didn't think I deserved it so I went to court. It snowed all night and morning, my bike was my transportation so I rode to court. Walked in and stood at the back shaking off the snow. When it was my turn the judge asked if I had ridden there, yes, he told me to go home, I had paid enough and he cancelled the ticket.
Haha cool judge!
And thank you for the comment! Yes I know, I feel bad you all have to endure the commercials too… but thanks for sticking around either way!
I turn the volume down when the ad plays. Most of the ads are so fn annoying. Hope you receive some ad revenue!
When I was young and only had a bike , I happened upom the idea of wearing waterproof trousers over my jeans - and then another pair of jeans on top so my friends wouldn't think me a pussy. I stayed warm and dry when it rained.
This was mostly done through winter which here in England wasn't so cold as some places, but it was still cold. Keeping your hands warm wasn't so easy though as the gloves back in the 1970's weren't as good as today and stopping now and then to warm your hands on the engine was accepted practice !
@@thakery5720 my dad always told me to layer my clothes in cold weather. You have a great idea there!
The engine is my hand warmer as well.
So familiar for me; I get rained on with only a cloud in the sky; gotta be tough to ride with no front fender; go for it red ; love your real videos👍👍👍
You and your bike are freakin awesome.
Cool vid, Red--thank you. I'm still drying out from a torrential rainstorm that was I caught in in 1969.
LOL!!
Your bike seems to ride so smooth, love it. And your springer does a good job of smoothing the bumps.
Smooth? I sent @RedRyderCanadaBC and add for a Gell padded underpants after I saw the seat on her Chopper. My Yamaha FZ-07 has a hard little seat that bothers after 3 hours riding. I strap on an AirHawk Air Cushing for longer trips .
Hi, what a beautiful country you live in.
In the final clip where you lovingly touched your bike was a mark of true love.
Don’t talk yourself down you did this wet ride on your own merits so good on you girl !
Starting your bike at the petrol station was a breeze.
Keep up the good work. Cheers Richie.
Your camera POV appears to be spot on. Looks like I am riding the bike. It is the time of year where rain is possible on almost any day. Assessing my odds for getting wet on tomorrows commute. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
I don't mind riding in the rain. I live in London, UK and Houston, Texas. I ride a Triumph Bobber in both cities. Today's ride here in Houston was 40C and no rain. Was worth it. As are most rides. Love your channel, keep up the good work!! Cheers
One of the coolest handlebar I've ever seen in a beautiful motorcycle! Greetings from Brazil!
I have to disagree. On bars.buckhorns .would have a front fender. . But it ain’t my bike.(shoot)
Yet another morale booster from yourself. Great ideas, informative and good delivery. Thanks from England.
Thank you!
Beautiful Old School Build, but made even better with the Steam- Punk treatment.! I Love it!!😀
Like you, like your channel. Like your bike too. I'm a fan from Chicago and I have a 1949 Panhead bobber and a 1981 Shovelhead FX.
Hey! Thanks for being here :)
Grew up in Ohio, so riding in the rain was a normal occurance. Have lived in Arizona for the past 25+ years where riding in the rain is rare, but the Summer daytime temperatures are a killer. I think I prefer rain. Great video Thanks for sharing and ride safe
Thank you for watching!
it was fun to watch you ride i liked your video i think we need more like you out their your soft on the eyes for sure you have a great personality also like your bike it fits you 100%thumbs up!
This is the first video of yours I've seen. Nice day out despite the weather. Cool pieces of what was left of the car show (enjoyed the little red first gen Charger) We definitely liked everything your video had to offer. Red seemed to have a nice quiet theme subtly woven through the video...that's my artistic eye talking 🌹 Thanks for sharing
Thank you ☺️
Stings like bees with no face shield!!! Tuff to ride with just your right hand on the throttle and cover your face with your left hand… ahhhhhhh good times!!
Hi Red! Everything about your bike is really cool and artistic. Handlebars and triple trees in your air filter cover everything's rad
Thank you!
Great video, awesome bike, it's a great view looking over those bars and springer front end, so cool.
That's a really nice looking bike. Love the color combos... Cool video
Thank you 😊
Rain is just liquid sunshine! Thanks for the ride Red.
I rode In 4 to6 “ of snow riding from Banff to Jasper when we left Banff it was nice but when we got around the ice fields we were in 4 “ or more of snow on the highway this was in June . We all made it to Jasper I one piece , We had worse before. Just another day on my Harley, love every minute of it. Just like the song.
Wow, that would have been a cold one for sure!! I don't like situations where I might fall down... mostly because my bike would be a lot of work to fix if anything happened to it.
You've got more guts than me cuz I am terrified of the rain...If there's a hint of rain in the forcast I stay home ... Bravo to You !
Sometimes you have no choice but to get caught in it lol. It wasn’t supposed to rain that day!
You aint a rider !!
Another nice ride, that bike certainly runs and rides nice. Wet weather is something we see a lot of in the UK. You keep starring in the videos and I will keep watching. Nice to see someone who can look after their bike 🤩
I have a '75 XLCH Ironhead, set up similar to your Shovel and I run without a front fender too ... It's like driving in front of a firehose pointed at your face when riding in the rain LOL .. You might try tying a bandana around the forks when it rains. It kind of acts like a mini fender. Doesn't work 100%, but every little helps :)
As someone else mentioned, a bandana tied between your rigid forks will help to keep some of the spray from the tire off your face.
I’ve got many stories about riding in all types of weather but not going to bore you with them.
On another note, I’m an old guy that has been riding for more years than I care to admit. I have never owned a Shovel but worked on plenty of my them when I was wrenching in shops back in the late 1980’s and early 90’s.
Watching you and your Shovel, I’ve got a bug up my ass to finally get one.
I think I’m gonna sell my Evo Springer and buy a Shovel. I’ve got my eye on one that checks all my boxes and except for having a Glide front fork, is pretty much set up the way I’d do it. Open belt primary, foot clutch with a Jokey Shifter and a Kicker.
Keep riding, keep learning and keep posting up the videos.
You give this ole bastard something to look forward to besides taking a good dump every day.
I’m goikg to try that bandana thing! I had one tied around my head on my ride, I could have done that if I would have though of it at the time. Everyone’s got there tricks and tips and I love hearing them all!
Man, if you can keep your evo and get a Shovelhead as a secondary bike that would be sweet! I’m actually looking at getting an evo so I have a road trip/ shitty weather bike. I used to ride all year round when I was riding something in didn’t care too much about getting wet. My shovel just isn’t meant for the rain, too much in there that shouldn’t get wet.
Thanks for commenting! I’m glad people can enjoy my videos and find some inspiration in them 🙂
Red Rider, you got it home 💨. So you get a Gold Star 🌟
Nice looking bike. It a oldie but a goodee! We got caught in rain, big one once in Albuquerque NM..
Keep strong & safe.
Goose_HD Lady Cali
Sweet Bike! That was a nice ride! The journey is half the fun! Ride On!
You made it home, it's a good ride! I've ridden in some pretty crappy weather. When I was stationed in England I had to ride my bike in the freezing cold. I had to stop periodically to war my hands on the cylinders. Made it home, good ride!
Great video and I LOVE ❤️. Very brave and seem level headed. A very nicely done shovelhead. I had a 1975 Fx(kick only) 1200. It had some shovel issues like all shovels but it was fun. Thanks for posting.
Thanks 👍 for the trip 😊 I hope to get out there soon.
It has been a couple years since I rode to Kelowna from the Island. (home) Always a great ride, rain or shine! I have never taken my shovel on that run.....perhaps this summer? Love your Channel, Keep it up!
Don’t change a thing , reality at its best fun times! Ride free in America 🇺🇸
Damn Angel how can anyone not like ya!! Awsum following ya on this journey, trying to get better at what ya up to,really cool to watch!!
Really nice bike. Looks great.
Got caught in the rain leaving Savanah, GA and rode that way until Jacksonville, FL. It was February and very cold. Glad it wasn't freezing.
That would suck in the cold.
The joys of ever changing weather... 😁 I have to say that snow is worse to ride in though. I'm pretty sure i hit that pothole at the end of your video at least once!
Good ride Red !! Seems like she's starting better ? One time heading home from Sturgis heading east, i rode in the rain all day. Pulled in just east of St. Louis to a motel wanting to get all my stuff dry. A dude and his kids came from next door and invited me over for hot dogs on the grill. After the kids went to bed we got a bottle of Jack out. Can't remember how i got back to my room, woke up sprawled out on the bed with my clothes still on, my gear still wet and rode in the rain most of that day !!! I lived on the east coast. Those days you never forget but the memories are always fun !!!!
That’s a great story! Thanks for sharing 🙂
riding in the rain sucks but then again something that i'm use to as i love to travel from Michigan to Florida at least 2 to 3 times a year. plus i ride in 15 degree weather here in the winter. love watching your videos they are great 👍
I missed this one too, Red. Was raining in Vernon this morning ,then sunny for a bit .... Got the lawn mowed however, then the rain started again.... So Yeah,.... the weather is a month or so behind this year. Glad to see you made some of it at the meet before riding back. Stay Safe ... Ciao.
Speaking of the rain.... i enjoyed a shower yesterday... how refreshing.... Sharp bike.... Safe travels..
I love all the comments you get when you were on the road & at the pub 👍🏻
cool ride, nice motor and enjoyed the show
Riding in the rain really tests how waterproof your gear is……or not. I love how you “stopped” at those two STOP signs also. 🤫 Awesome!!
Love thee steampunk detail! 💜☕
I like you and your bike great footage of the ride and the cars remember it's not the destination it's the ride
Learned the value of a front fender on a similar ride years ago and I just won’t have a bike without one these days!🤣
Great video! I really liked seeing that chopped VW BUG! I used to have a yellow one like that, loved it! Ride safe!
Love you, your scoot, and your vid!
So nice to see a woman ride a bike like you are .I don,t have a woman that can ride a Harley Keep it UP.
Thanks! I love riding my own, but getting on the back is also fun sometimes.
Nice video. A front fender for riding in the rain, for sure. Nice video. Your fan from the Bahamas. Keep it up!
now miss red, you ran through that stop signs! LOL!! i hate ridding in the rain! good video, i love the red 66 charger the old car in front of you at 19:37 is a 1963 impala chevy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I freaking love your bike! Stay safe
Cool video, just found your channel. I used to live in Kelowna. Hoping to ride there from Vancouver this summer.
It’s always the journey not the destination, hold it up from UK 🇬🇧 X
Cool bike ! Nice video !
I could feel your pain and resentment about the rain. An old motorcycle covered in oil is not the best friend of dirt from the roads
No worries lady, you'll be the ol' dude( ;-) ) one day. With memories, and stories of your own. Till then, ride safe, live your life. Have fun!
Rain happens, in time you learn to trade cool for a front fender. Hopefully the tabs are still on that Springer. You handled it though,so good job ,and your face is still pretty. Some nice cars at the show . Now you get to clean your bike..you should make a video of you giving the bike a bath !
what a beautiful bike!!! handlebars are just perfect!
I'm also surprised how clean your bike is after rain ride, mine would be a freaking mess after rain.
i really do like you and your free spirit
love the video sister love the shovelhead blessings davey london bikers uk
Beautiful!
Enjoyed the ride!
Just subscribed. Watched a couple of your vids and you seem very down to earth. I have a 2004 custom build and I don't think I'd be happy taking it in the rain. You did very well in that storm. I'm in Northern Utah and I do prefer riding in the snow to the rain. I did like how you blew through those stop signs. With my luck I'd be getting a ticket lol. Kepp up the great content.
Thank you for your support! :)
Your cool and your bike you do a good job of these videos. Nice to see some of the US too
Great looking scooter. I don't have a rain sock for my bagger either, keep forgetting to order one. Thing about getting the bike wet is it puts like a coating of oil or soot on the bike, really hard to get off. I'm really surprised you can ride without a fender in Canada, they seem to have an awful amount of rules, laws, and regulations up there.
Hi red I'm also one of those old dudes like you I also ride alone love your bike and you for your get out there attitude I have been riding the same harley I bought new 27 years ago would love to go for a ride with you but I live in Indiana keep up all your good videos and show us some more kicks you got a new subscriber now take care
Thanks for subscribing! I hope I can say the same thing about my shovel in 20 years. I plan on never selling it.
Joys of Canada west coast Edmonton
About the same right now.
Leave warm and sunny 2hours ⛈
Enjoy, ride safe!
Awesome ride!!
Kudos - for your efforts and determination with all obstacles etc !
Good luck
NC fan
Thank you 😃
Sister you're awesome i love you and your bike is cool
Our group got caught going into the Rocky Mountains. Got soaked before we could get our rain gear on. Stopped to eat & dry off then put rain gear on. Started off in light rain then got cold and super foggy. Couldn't see, weren't familiar with the roads & real cold. Was thinking just ride off a cliff going to die anyway😅. Was really glad to clear that mountain & get down to warmer & dryer country. Scariest ride I ever had! Love your channel just subscribed.
I bet that ride felt like it lasted forever, sounds scary for sure!
Thanks for subscribing!
Thanks for the lovely ride! :)
Oh, I love your content.
handkerchief tied to the front end can cut down on the water in the face , love the shovel I have a 80/81 lowrider .
Hey Red cool video, keep em coming.
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for the video I live in the desert . Its beautiful country there .I liked it
Thanks for watching!
oh brother have i been in some rain storms. worst one riding from indy to chicago. tornado warnings.. sideways wind/rain. sitting under underpass as it starts to flood. made lil further and had to stop again. waited it out in state police headquarters with dispatch lady watching radar. damn near home started storming so bad had to stop and stand under awning as lightning struck across the street hitting tree and split it in half and started it on fire! rest of way home looked like a war zone with all debris and everyone without power. should have made it home by 5 pm. pulled in at 3am!
keep on riding. you will make some memories for sure. some good..... some not so good. but you will remember them forever!
Nice video cars and bikes
Thanks for watching! 😁
Pretty awesome! But yeah... I sucks to ride in the rain but no choice to ride through it! I've been riding since '96 and this is the first year that I pack rain gear with me at all times.
Thanks for sharing your videos with us there awesome only thing I see wrong is were you roll though the stop sign s its ok to do that but is a bad habit I struggle with it myself but I stop and at least touch my feet im a ex truck driver my biggest fear was people rolling though stop sign s because you can get pass the point of stopping and with a heavy load you can slam the break on but it will not stop so please be careful of the roll though stop sign s it happens to best of us Thanks again for the cool footage of your bike ride
You're a trooper. You glow girl 😊
😁😁
Well, I like you, your motorcycle and I like taking trips with you on the computer screen. Back in the 70s I rode from Lawndale California to Penticton Canada on a Honda SL350 going through then came back to the U.S. at the Idaho border. I got caught in the rain too. It was just over 6000 miles total round trip.
That is a lot of miles! I hope to do a good road trip one of these day! I don't think it will be on this thing though.
Beautiful bike!
Thank you 😁
Your awesome!
It’s nice putting in the rain time to time
Old Dudes?????????? I resemble that remark. Been caught in bad weather more times than I care to count on more motorcycles I care to remember. First thing I do on a fresh build is ride to the quarterwash to make sure it runs when it's wet. Glad you survived.
As much as I enjoy the rain while sitting on my porch, I don't want to ride in it. with that said you did good. my first Harley i bought new, it was a ironhead roadster, it was my only transportation, every day to work all year in Ill. Talk about summer, fall, and spring. haha Be safe. Also the rain destroyed my custom made leather.
Support you nice so good ❤️💕💗🤘🏻🤟🏻👍🏻🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰😘😘
I've experienced riding in Scottish rain more than a few times which is character building lol
That's why there's so many Lochs in Scotland.
Damn that is some beautiful countryside!
That’s not even the nicest parts!
Hey Red what’s up keep those wheels rollin babe 👍👍
Good on you girl 👍 wet weather conditions are shit.... eh ? Keep up the great vids. Cheers and beers from OZ. 👍🥃🇦🇺. Oh .... love the red hair and those blue eyes 😎
Thanks! Yea the rain sucks sometimes haha.
Good video it sucks getting caught in the rain I cant tell ya how many rimes I have, lol
Very nice bike!
Greetings from Brazil!

@@RedRiderCanadaBC Hello!!!!😬😬😬
Looked like a fun ride too me.

Thanks for the cool vids...
Sportster S is rated 121 hp. Not 190 . But still pretty cool. Keep it up... thanks again.
Ps. I hate the rain.
hello from germany, nice ride
Hello!
