Washing a bike is always a fucking pain in the arse but the end result is always worth it. I find that drinking beer before, during and after helps. Good on ya Red.
It's obvious how much pride you take in your ride and I love the fact you actually ride it. It"s an awesome machine and would kick ass in any show. The fact that you use it for GO gets my respect. I really enjoyed this particular vid because it gave us time to be able to really examine your ride. Every time I see it, I see something I had missed before. So many one off pieces on that thing. It really is a work of art. Thanks again for taking the time to put your videos out for all of use to enjoy. Ride often and try to ride safe but even if you're not riding safe , always have a kick ass time!
It's pretty clear that somebody loves their scooter... just a little bit :) Out of all the one-off bits and pieces of your scooter, I like that half penny caliper medallion the best. That is just the bee's knees!
In 1981 I walked into a harley dealership in shawnee, Oklahoma and fell in love with a new wide glide with a flame paint job on it. The price was $6495.unaffordable at the time. I can't get that bike out of my head, it was so beautiful . Your bike reminds me of that bike I could never have. Hoping someday I can get one. I've owned several bikes since but that 81 wide glide got away. Your videos are awesome, keep up the good work.
I enjoyed watching you talk and care for your bike this morning. It helps me ease into the day and for that I am thankful. As much as I’m careful, it never ceases to amaze me the things that can happen to my bike. I’m sure you will need to wash yours again, or at least rinse it off. I’ve found it helpful to use a electric leaf blower to get to places that’s difficult to reach as well as speeding up the process. I look forward to your next video and I wish you safe riding.
Lemon Pledge and a micro-fiber cloth is all I've used for at least 10 years on all my bikes. Windshield, chrome, paint, everything. Those spoke rims are a total pain in the butt to clean. Every once in awhile we used 0000 steel wool on the chrome rims n spokes my girlfriends Honda Shadow 1100. I have polished aluminum rims on my Yamaha Stratoliner so those get Lemon Pledge too, easy peezy! Good to see you producing more content! Thanks for all you do! :-)
I really enjoy your videos. I like all the hand made additions and upgrades you’ve made. I know it’s hard to keep clean but, you do a great job at keeping it looking nice.
Hand wash is the only way to go and the copper and brass really pops with the green paint you have given me some ideas for the oil lines on my shovel pretty lady, nice bike, great content keep the videos coming
Tell us what you did at Harlley? And what you do now? Spray down with gunk, spray down with water blow dry with leaf blower makes the job way less painful. And theres no water spots. my 84 fxr looks great after all these years. Pretty good video skills Red
That beautiful bike came out nice, Red. And, handing washing your bike allows you to notice anything that might need attention. Love your channel kid. It's one of my favorites. Peace, Eric in Kissimmee, Florida.
Wow, good job. I never wash the bikes with water. Lately I use this dry wash stuff sold at the Harley. Think it’s called A-1. Spray foam on wipe off. I carry a piece of Nylon for the air cleaner cause if I’m riding, it’s raining. Just the way it is in the States, Northeast way. Thanks for posting.
Your bike looks fantastic weather it's clean or dirty. I wash my bike maybe once every two months. I figure it's just gonna get dirty right after anyway. I ride every day. Rain or shine. But it helps me really get a close look at everything and see if there are any problems developing with it. Now go ride that sweet beast and stay safe!
Gunk used to make a motorcycle spray cleaner that worked really well. But as usual they deleted it, for whatever reason!! Great job there, Red! Just two sexy girls! ( one - redhead, one H-D) 🤣👍😎
I crashed my 1975 fx1200 shovel only 1 time…in a heavy down pour. I mistakenly grabbed my front brake to avoid hitting a car and front wheel locked up and slid out from under me. I didn’t get hurt but I still don’t like riding in rain. You were smart to park and wait. I like your vids.
Nice job. I like my Pan engine and trans mounted in it's 1981 FX frame with Progressive suspension front and rear and sticky Avon tires, fun to ride on the twisty secondary roads around here. But your bike with all the custom detail is way above anything I have seen elsewhere. If you are really looking for encouragement, I think you are very engaging, fun and you are obviously good looking, so what would we have to complain about? Hope you enjoyed the ride and didn't collect too many bugs! The main drive gear leak is fixable, you have to pull the clutch, sprocket, clean it in the bike and put it back together with silly seal between everything (not in the clutch components) plus use a MDG nut with the built in seal, that has worked for me.
yeah there's a built in leak at the mdg, gob some silicone into the splines behind the drive sprocket, install sprocket and some more silicone behind the tabbed nut keeper, torque down and bend an ear or two on the keeper, walla, no more leak.
They do seem to run better when clean! But a cheap Harbor Freight power washer is worth it. Especially if hooked up to the HOT water. A spray down with good ol' GUNK or Simple Green first. Plastic bags and rubber bands on the intake and pipes. I have gangsta wide whitewalls on my '68 and the first time I washed it without covering the pipes and started it, she blew black yickkk all over the rear whitewall.
Another good video Red! It's a good break away time for me from my mechanic realm I dwell in here on UA-cam. I'll keep watching, and we did subscribe. Hope to see more soon, and nice to "meet" Mishy!! Stay safe out there...
I hate washing mine too! Mostly I keep it clean with Armor-all for glass, it works great. I also use it on the paint which is black denim. It dries quickly, no spots, no fuss no muss. Great bike Red Rider!!
Here we go! Now you have got me feeling a bit guilty about my dirty ol white bike, alright I gotta find my washin gear, Wait nope I cant wash mine today I dont have any shorts to wear! o well take it easy ya character good to see ya.
I can remember back when shovels were new,any bike that you rode Harley,Triumph.Bsa,if you got cought in the rain on the rode you didn't dare shut that bike off, because they would not start again!
Great video and you did a great job. You’re a hard worker… watching you kick your bike over shows just how much you love your bike. Great job, keep up the videos. Love you and your videos.!!
SOLD good job . you wouldn't want to come to Texas and was mine would ya.just yanking your chain I don't like washing it either .but I have to it's my main transportation . nice clean video
I can relate to you about constant bike cleaning, because I hate having to do it, after longer road trips being exposed to the elements.especially exterior high shined polished aluminium parts.
I used to clean my bike. A good 2hours 04 soft tail deuce. Sold the bike and kept my 69 nova. I’m now looking for a pan head. I helped my brother just finished a 47 flathead. First time I road a bike with shifter on the tank
Hey! Just noticed you are Pacific Mikes camera man! Cool to see you on my channel 😎 I love Pacific Mikes videos, they are so informative and you do a great job filming! Let him know I’m a fan 😆 And thanks for watching my channel!
I hate cleaning all the bug guts but damn they leave a mess when the die all over the front of the bike. It ain't good for paint either. Cleaning can be a pain but I think the bike appreciates it.
They should invent this active foam type stuff that you can spray on using the hose or something. Then let it sit for 5 minutes and they hose it down with water: hey presto done clean and shiny bike. They have it for the bathroom, why not for bikes ? I wash mine only once a year, dont enjoy it, too much work. Inbetween it gets cleaned when I take stuff apart, I clean the parts before puttting m back on. How much water do you think it sucks in while riding in the rain ? Point being water gets in there no matter what you do. P.S. was a relaxing video to watch 😁
If you get a chance, try using Windex Ammonia free to clean your chrome, it will not harm the aluminum on your bike but Windex regular with Ammonia tears up the Aluminum and causes it to oxidize.!
My shovel had an automatic chain oiler that guarantees to put oil everywhere on rider and bike on every ride. Must clean after every ride and forget riding in light color clothes. Ha but it was fun.
Got caught in a torrential downpour coming home from work years ago .like you I thought that I could make it home by out running it but NO it cut loose so hard that even the cars and trucks were pulling off the highway! Had to find a overpass to hide under until it passed and the people parked there gave me the WTF are you doing out riding in this heavy rain lol 😆 Thank God I had my full coverage helmet on that day because it was literally stinging the hell outta my arms and chest due to me just wearing a tee shirt n jeans otherwise I would've kept riding all the way home !😎💪 very nice bike !
Use a big ziplock on the air filter. Soapy water cleans, When my bike is wet, I use a leaf blower, to get the water off. Don’t forget get to lube the chain, especially after riding in the rain, or every 600 miles.
Spokes & spoke nipples are the worst to keep from rusting unless they are stainless. I like to true my wheels every time I change tires & if the nipples are rusted to the spokes its a real pain to get the nipples to turn. Other than that, my bike gets a bath when I'm caught in the rain.
Unfortunately, everyone gets caught in the rain now and again. I invested in a small hand-held steam cleaner for getting into all the tight spots on my bike. Much safer and more effective than water straight from the hose and once you get a feel for it, it'll save you quite a bit of time. Something to consider for your cosmetic maintenance toolbox. I enjoyed the video.
Damn red , at the beginning of this program you was looking like a redhead Casper , with your pail skin. ( I mean absolutely no disrespect) I think your beautiful. Anyways now twords the end of your show. You look like you might be in some pain come dark . Looks like you just came from the Texas coast. That is one badass sled you got there . With your Irish hair and the green and gold scheme on your ride. You definitely complement each other . That's pretty hot . Anyways that's enough of all that. Great show , thanks for doing what you do. Stay free .
Good to know I'm not the only person who's scared of washing their bike; rain happens, but soapy water's just asking for trouble. My patented cleaning method is to wipe the oily parts, then use the oily rag to wipe the rusty parts.
I've had bikes I never washed, not once lol. A good long ride in the rain would actually help clean them. It's a dilemma in your case as that bike probably needs to be clean, I don't know maybe all that brass and copper would take on a nice patina if just left to the elements.
Thanks for posting, it's good to see you keeping the machine clean! BTW, if you were the sort of girl who wore a bikini while washing her bike, I'm not sure I'd have subscribed. Please keep up the "Real Bike content!"

Same here, Lemom Pledge and micro-fiber.....works great.
I like your honesty and simple attitude. The bike is very nice also.
Good video thanks. Or as we say around here (Kitimat), "Let's ride out the highway and murder some bugs!" - yeah, washing the bike becomes routine. :)
Thourough wash job, you look good in them Jean shorts. Thank you😄
I really enjoy your videos. I like all the hand made additions and upgrades you’ve made. I know it’s hard to keep clean but, you do a great job at keeping it looking nice.
I dont blame you Red. Your bike has alot of character, and will always be Tedious to clean. It's a pain in the butt. Such a good looking bike.
So great to see a woman so proud of her bike that she'll do what it takes to take care of it, herself.
Never sell that bike, its got soul, you two belong together.
Very much enjoyed this video, not always the favorite pastime cleaning our bikes but necessary, yea, your shovel is a beauty!
Thanks!
You know what they say it's my bike I'm proud of it and I keep it clean keep up the great work my friend

I need one of those hog blaster bike dryer things
Looks much cleaner. Hope ride went well, air dry all the bike parts going down the road.
A grand job, from here it looks so much better for the washoff. Pop over to UK to do my BMW 4 me.
Haha.
Yes....do like what I see. And like the shovel also.
