Thanks for the shout out! Great video as always Rob!
Just found out the existence of Hoobs and homebridge and it looks very cool. I will have to start planning on my IOT setup at home :) Starting with Pi4 and Hoobs!!! thanks man!
Hi I just saw all your homekit videos you have made. Thank you for your time dedicated into creating this very insightful video helping noobs like me getting through each step in vivid detail. I just bought a Unifi Doorbell along with the whole Unifi network system to upgrade. Could you do a video related to Unifi related products such as the Doorbell? (Setting up doorbell in homekit, able to interact with guests, and setting up a doorbell chime to notify us) I can hopefully use your camera video for my unifi camera setup!
Thanks for the great video. I was wondering if the camera maybe can detect motion like the nest cameras can through Hoobs, to like trigger a automation.
Thanks for that tutorial, works great!!!
Awesome Video! Would love to see more such as automation settings that are allowed?
Perfect. Thank you!
this helped tremendously. thx!
Heard about the channel from Shane. Subscribed.
Thanks looking forward to following this when I get my hoobs.
For folks that have ring setup with ring door bell. Does your video feed show up in your apple TV when the doorbell is pressed?
Great tutorial. Thanks!!
Thank you very much! It is working now with my Homekit now, many thanks for your help!
Thanks for making this video 😊
Very helpful. I did everything but my HOOBS UI wasn't showing Ring accessories even though the logs showed the Front Door camera and logged the motion detection. Also I didn't realize I needed to add the accessory manually inside the Home app for it to appear, so your video helped. But I still don't see the Ring camera as an accessory inside the HOOBS dashboard.
Thanks, great video !!
Fantastic video - have been hoping that Ring would add HomeKit themselves - but alas doesn’t look like it’s ever going to happen. One question about the Hoobs setup - is there a U.K. version of it, or would the euro plug version be fine with an adaptor. Thinking about taking the plunge - just want to check first as they are quite expensive!
Great video! Thanks for this :-)
Thank you!
Thank you for the insturction. I have three ring cameras, would I get three different code show up automatically? I am getting hoobs this Friday.
helpful review. do you need a special Ring bridge to operate the smart lights if you have a hoobs running homebridge?
Hoobs broke ring. Ring devices no longer show up in homekit. Could you kindly do another video on the fix.
Could you do a review of ring using hoobs? Does the 2 way audio work? Could you show what it does on HomeKit when someone rings?
You got an answer on this?
@@kennethnielsen4421 testing this tomorrow. Just bought one.
How about some review or setup for tuya or smartlife using hoobs to homekit. Tq
Works! Thanks!
Exelent videó thanks! Woking. But i dont know how do that :) I did not seen the bridge.
Thanks for a great video. I'm using a Raspberry Pi 1B and i can't install this version of FFMPEG on this device. Any other versions I can use or is just case of my Pi being too old??
Thanks
Works perfectly! Made my day!
What was your ring product?
@@Lui5Jacint0 Video Doorbell 1 gen.
Grzegorz C. Does the 2 way audio work?
@@Lui5Jacint0 yes
Could you make a video for Bravia Tv in Hoobs? I always fail when trying to add the PIN
Please make video's about HomeKit shortcuts
Can you also make it chime on the homepod?
if you have a Ubiquiti G4 doorbell can you this configure in HOOBS that also there is a pop up on your Apple TV when someone rings the bell & use a homepod mini as a chime
Great video! So simple and straightforward. Question, once you get your ring doorbell to display in HomeKit, are you able to make it act as a HomeKit Secure Video device? Meaning you can record, use the timeline, have the notification come up on your Apple TV, use face recognition/use your HomePod to announce who’s at the door?
Thanks!
I found this hoobs plugin does not work with HSV, so I use scripted instead to let ring camera work with HSV
@@zhangbenz5421 How do you do this through HOOBS?
Please do Arlo or let me know if its possible,
Hi - do I need to buy the Ring bridge to go with any sort of additional smart lighting if I have this device?
Thank you for the video. I’ve tried to do what you said and I’ve run into a big problem. I can login and get my key but I cannot copy the ring token. I have a Mac mini in an iPad. Neither well let me copy the token. It is much too long of a string to type in myself. How in the world do I copy it?
I got it all working but not sure how to get the live video to show up on my Apple TV.
After you add this to Homekit can you then turn the ring alarm system on and off with Siri?
Can a HomePod or Mini HomePod be used to hear when someone rings the doorbell?
If I add it to my hoobs homebridge do I still need then to pay the monthly ring subscription to work???
Is there any video record either in hoobs before pushing over to homekit I guess apple will not allow hoobs support for the secure video record.
Is it possible to watch recorded video from ring doorbell with homekit?
im new to all of this, I have a synology nas and I was wondering if I installed hoobs on my synology would this still work? synology says it doesn't support ring or nest so if I install hoobs or homebridge I should be good? also will I need a ring subscription for this? I was hoping I can keep all the streams saved locally on my synology.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get live video working? I have 9 Ring cameras and all have a snapshot working but not the live video. I am running HOOBS standalone unit ver 3.1.23 and I installed FFmpeg using the link you provided but still no live video.
I recently bought couple of battery spotlight cams. It is not showing uo on my homeKit. All other Ring camera are showing u. I updated the app. regenerated the CLI and restarted the hoops but still it only shows the old ones.
Is also the 2 way audio working in homekit? Mine is getting an error as soon as i activate the voice button on the homekit screen
Hi! Thanks for the videos on HomeBridge. One thing I noticed was after I said it all up, added ring and nest to HomeBridge. I went out and came back after around 30mins and noticed that the devices were not responding on the HomeKit app. After logging into hoobs, I found that I had to ‘Start’ service as it was stop but I’m not sure why it stopped? And how to keep it running indefinitely? Many thanks!
That sounds like a glitch - normal operation is that the service run indefinitely.
Thanks a lot for the reply! I guess it was because it hasn’t happened since. Appreciate the brilliant videos, keep it up 👍
Can I use a Google Nest Hub as the tablet/screen of choice to control Apple HomeKit if I am using HOOBS?
Can it chime through a home pod?
Help Please
I have this issue
Isee Waiting for stream data followed by Stopped Live Stream in the log
I saw this troubleshooting , it is a network issue. Your router is not allowing the ring plugin to open the ports that it needs for stream data to flow in. Check your router to see if it has UPnP or NAT-PMP features that you can enable
What’s the diy version
Does It work like a doorbell??
What if you dont have the 2fa activated?
Will this work with iCloud+ recording?
I keep having the same issue every time I install ring plug in - Hoobs Service: stopped and "Server error" how can I resolve this?
Followed your tutorial and I still can not add a device I get an error after the email and password prompt in the Terminal
My in home doorbell doesn’t work now
please help me with the FFMPEG pack i am getting an error Broken pipe
Note that since 21/06/2020 you no longer need to add the device to the Home App in an additional step, it's now automatically added. Also, the configuration page is slightly different, it no longer displays fields for Email & Password. Overall it was easy to set up (after spending 20 minutes trying to manually add it using Home app).
Thanks. I spent more than 20 minutes so glad i found your comment. They need to update this vid.
Running into an issue with copying from my iPad Pro. It won't let me no matter what I try. I simply cannot copy
the token info. Quite annoying.
I’m running HOOBS in a docker container on a Synology NAS. I have installed the Plug In okay, but I’m stuck at the npx bit of the process.
When I run the command in the HOOBS terminal I get:

Any ideas?
I used this last year to set it up but once hoobs 4.0 came out, everything got messed up. I tried deleting it and now adding it again bit everything has changed. Could you please give us an update on what the setup process should be now in Hoobs 4.0. Sorry and thank you
Question. When you had it set up, does it show up in HomeKit as a regular doorbell with doorbell features? Or does it just show up as a camera? This guy didn’t show much of the interface after installing. Also, after you add it via hoobs, can I cancel my ring subscription or do I still need to pay in order for it to work in HomeKit?
For some reason it never seems to ask me for my 2FA code
Sorry. I’m completely confused. First of all- what is SSH? Second what program are you using to type this SSH thing into?
I’m so utterly frustrated by so much Jargon forced onto me from what was pro-ported to be a user friendly experience for those who don’t code.
I am in EXACTLY the same boat. Advertised as the position for people who have no experience programming, but they talk to you like you are an experienced programmer and know what is happening. I have had HOOBS installed for several weeks now and have yet to et anything to work. I am not a programmer and reached out to HOOBS for help but have received radio silence. I think my next step is to request a refund and return this useless item.
You should mention that this plugin doesn't work with all browsers. (Live view)
This really needs a update as ist is completely invalid now
Hey ive just updated my ring app on hoobs and everything has disappeared do you know if it’s possible to down grade?
I'm sorry, I don't know how to do that.
So I’m going to say goodbye to my Logitech doorbell and replace it with a ring doorbell. What happens when you push the doorbell button? Does it still chime on HomePods?
It does indeed. A friend has a Ring set up and can choose which HomePod(s) will chime.
How would I SSH using a MacBooke Pro instead of an iPad? I have Hoobs, I did my software updates to version 3 but I can’t figure out for the life of me how to SSH...I thought it was through terminal on the Hoobs device but that doesn’t work for me either.
The terminal on the Hoobs device should work just fine as does the terminal in the Hoobs UI itself. You shouldn't need to SSH from the MacBook at all.
Tech Craft thanks, I’ll give it another shot!
Does not seem that easy with having to type in a whole bunch of text with spaces : no spaces, configure screen, refresh token, blueberry / cranberry pie opening terminal screen, etcetera. Only thing that seems simple is to buy the HooBs package.
When trying to install ffmpeg on hoobs using command in comments getting message "This version of FFMPEG can not be installed on this device". Tried adding the ffmeg hoobs plugin but the ring-auth-cli install does not find it. Any suggestions?
Which device are you installing on?
When you SSH into the machine, are you using Terminal on the Mac? Or another program?
I'm using Blink on the iPad.
Snapshots are working fine but when I try live view now it says no response from camera. FFmpeg is installed. Please help. Logs just say waiting for live stream and then stopped life stream. There’s no real error message that I see?
I'm looking into this one at the moment. I'll get back to you as soon I have more.
@@tech_craft thanks
Same problem here. Is It mandatory to install the ffmpeg plugin? I have Ring Doorbell 2 V4
Why would you tell me to enter code into the terminal but flash it so quickly that it is hard to even read?
There’s nothing simple about this. Clearly this video is not meant for noobs. A dummer down version would be fantastic.
What external ssh terminal are you using?
Hi, may you be able to remotly help me? I've done everything you said but I cannot get live video, I just get "no response". Please!
I keep getting
"wget: command not found" in terminal.
Which OS and Hoobs version are you using?
@@tech_craft I’m using Hoobs 4
@@tech_craft on macOS
Will it work without Hoobs ?
Wow. This thing is expensive $249.99.
Mmmk!!! None of this is for regular users.. i literally understood zero of what any of this was fffm terminals …. and whoosh im gone
everything works except the live view, how can I fix that
Is there anything showing in your logs? Did you install ffmpeg using the command in the description?
Tech Craft yes, I installed the ffmpeg

Thanks for all your great information in your podcasts. One suggestion - please slow down your speech. You speak so quickly it is at times hard to understand you.
Good Lord man...slow down.
Slow down son!
Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa
