HI, Thanks for your great video. I´ve tried to connect my TP-Link Tapo C200 camera via Hoobs but it does not work with Homekit. I got the message "camera does not answer". I´m able to stream my camera via VLC and I have prepared the config step by step as you showed in your video. Do you have some recommendations I should try?
Quick Question! Since this isn’t an officially Apple sanctioned option for using Home Hub, is there any reason to think that Apple would have a reason to try and prevent HOOBS from integrating with Home Hub? I’d hate to fully invest in building my smart home around HOOBS, just for Apple to do what Apple does and real ease an update that breaks this option.
I don't think there's too much to worry about. Apple has been pretty open about specifications needed to communicate with Homekit and now we have the Connected Home Over IP project I think we'll see even more standardisation making it even easier to add devices and link different smart home bridges.
Any chance of a update to this to get it working with the Unifi Protect 4.4.3 via Hoobs? Total noob and can't figure this stuff out. I have three G4 cameras and a G4 doorbell I'd like to add to HomeKit.

Hi Rob, love your videos. I work in IT and sometimes love just being able to follow along to get something working since your videos are easy to follow. Do you know if you can change the still image refresh time? Thanks!
Hi i maked, working with VIVOTEK cam, and Linksys kam. My problem: The camera working windows, but not working with live / fullscreen. Could you help me? Thx.
Hi Rob, great video! I bought a Tapo C100 and got both video and audio working perfectly. Just follow the TP Link guide for getting an RTSP URL (not on iSpy database). It uses h264, so i set vcodec to copy and it works really well. Initial challenge with every Apple device working except my iPhone, but testing the next day it seemed to work. The black power lead is an unfortunately ugly addition to the camera, but for less than £20 at current prices in the UK, I'm pleased.

Hey. Firstly, your videos are very informative and helpful. Also calm and reassuring. Some of us need it! Secondly, I've recently swapped from using camera-ffmpeg-omx plugin to camera-ffmpeg (on the suggestion from the guys at HOOBS). In the old plugin both of my flashed Yi Cameras worked fine (although live video was somewhat choppy). The still image refreshed roughly every 10-15 seconds. Under the new camera-ffmpeg plugin I have excellent video (using vcodec: copy) but the images do not refresh. Oddly, when I first got it up and running in the new plugin, one of the cameras worked as expected and refreshed the still image repeatedly. After rebooting the Pi in an attempt to refresh everything and get the other one working, the one that was working stopped! No changes made!! I saw the snapshot appear in the log (while one was working) but now absolutely nothing. The iSpy connect page doesn't list any snapshot URL config (and I didn't use a line under the previous plugin which worked fine). Any ideas or things I could try?
Tech Craft - I have solved this mystery. Having tried everything else i stumbled upon it when a call I was trying to make on my iPhone repeatedly failed. I rebooted it and later checked my Home app for something else. Noticed that both cameras are refreshing as expected every 13 seconds or so. Obviously some kind of weird ‘blockage’ in the system.

Excellent video and I’m seriously going to be following along on this. Would be amazing if you could make some camera recommendations- as I personally find that daunting to sift through and work out of X or Y camera would work. Don’t mind tweaking stuff but still musing on if the really cheap TP Link cameras would work. Guessing so as I see they output H.264 / AAC. Thanks for all your work in recording this and others. Looking forward to seeing you grow the channel to 100k >🖖
Tech Craft thanks for replying! www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/cloud-camera/ any of these really but I’m sure I saw the KC100 going for £20 in Sainsbury’s of all places!
At that price I’ll get one and give it a test. Another brand that seems popular is Wyze. These need a bit more work to get going but they are known to work well. I have one arriving this week for test and tutorial.
Tech Craft Yep I’m going to finally get a Pi and then try any cheap IP cameras I can find. Don’t think Sainsbury’s has this any more but by the looks of things Amazon has KC100 for £30. Oddly enough the newer version “Tapo” doesn’t state it offers AAC audio. Hey ho - so far haven’t want to invest ££££ into home automation stuff. But doing it this way via HOOBS offers the Apple eco system I feel is needed but with a host of accessories I can pay less for and enjoy tinkering with 🤓! Thanks again. Felix

25/10/2020, 00:29:39 [Camera FFmpeg] [Open Plan] Device appears to be inactive. Stopping stream.
25/10/2020, 00:29:39 [Camera FFmpeg] [Open Plan] Stopped video stream.

Can you help me please?
I am also having this error now.. 26/10/2020, 12:38:44 PM [Camera FFmpeg] [Open Plan] An error occurred while making snapshot request: Error: spawn /home/hoobs/.hoobs/node_modules/ffmpeg-for-homebridge/ffmpeg EACCES
How do I set up the motion sensor?
No link for iSpy
my json text just gets deleted when I click save. It wont actually save the text.
That sounds like there might be an error in the JSON. You can check it with an online service like jsonlint.com
If they are H264/AAC they should almost certainly work. Do you have a link to them?
Felix
@@mindbalance_cc I picked up the cheapest one on Amazon so we'll see how it goes.
Hi, thanks for your video. I switched to HTTP and it's much better. Can I have audio on the camera?, I have a URL with the audio (rtsp://X.X.X.X/ch0_2.aac)
Excellent video as usual, Rob. Thank you for that.
I am already looking forward for your advice to get two of my cheap smartplugs to work within my Home.app overcoming the issues I am facing now.
You are asking for questions and you will be getting them! ;-)
Which smart plugs are you using?
Tech Craft I got a brand new “tapo P100“ from Tp-link and another no-name which is tuya-compatible
When I try to install ffmpeg, I get the message "This version of FFMPEG can not be installed on this device". What to do?
Hm have Hoobs 3.3.1, seems Installation of ffmpeg not required. But now the next Problem? Cam uses Port 80. No Problem so far for Android Devices not for Synology NAS but for Hoobs?
If a I have an Epson DVR with wired Twida dome cameras, will this work?
I couldn't find any definitive details, but there's a list of possible DVR configurations in the iSpy database. Maybe one of the model numbers will stand out: www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=H.264+Network+Dvr
Nest devices and Roomba for sure!
Nest cameras, smoke alarms and thermostat are coming up very soon. I need to get a Roomba!

That looks like ffmpeg isn’t installed or can’t be found. Which HOOBS version are you using?
Tech Craft 3.1.20 installed on a RaspiV4 , also followed your link and installed that
That’s the same config I use for my test box. Weird. Can you open a terminal in Hoobs and run ‘ffmpeg -version’?
You can mail me at rob@techcraft.co if you want to pick up there.
Tech Craft says command not found. Apparently Ffmpeg is not installed even though I followed your link. Hmm weird
If run this ‘wget -q -O - bit.ly/get-ffmpeg | sudo bash -‘ in a terminal that will install ffmpeg and you should be good to go
Just did this for my UniFi Protect setup and it was quickly done and love that it works really well! Notifications work and it is quicker than loading up the UniFi Protect app at times. I also run HOOBS off of a Raspberry Pi 3B and it has been awesome so far. Anyone interested visit plugins.hoobs.org/plugin/homebridge-unifi-protect oh and it works with ffmpeg so Video and Audio
