Eddie is Amazing . He helped me get my Hoobs up and running. He was so kinda and patient. I hope he’s getting paid for the great work he’s doing. Thank you Eddie for all you help . I’m sure I’ll end up needing your help again . Thank you so much .
HI Eddie. With such a small performance difference (15%?) between the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, and the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus, why do you recommend the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Plus as the minimum? I ask because I have unused Raspberry Pi 3 Model B's sitting on my desk. :)
Hey Neil .... I recommended that Plus model as it is the latest product in the Raspberry Pi 3 range. However from a specs standpoint - please use the one you have on-hand - will work just fine. Cheers
I have two raspberry Pi with Hoobs and homebridge , would there any better long term option move to one hardware for both ? And how to setup both on one hardware ?
Hey Kevin. You'll need to run only one of them. Choose either Homebridge or HOOBS. They both use the same plugin Database and provide the same functionality as a bridge service to HomeKit.
I’m starting to have very annoying network connecting issues with my HOOBS Box. I ran it for about 1 year connected through wifi with not much issues. But in the last weeks, my HOOBS is disconnecting from the wifi on large scale. After watching your video, I noticed that it would be preferable to connect it through wire. My problem now is that if I try to connect it with an Ethernet cable to my Ethernet hub, my HOOBS is connecting using both! Is it normal?
Hello Jean ... In your router settings > reserve the Ethernet IP address to the HOOBS box and restart your network. The issue will be fixed. Alternatively - if you are using a Mesh network - connect the box to the main node (thats connected to the modem)
Having a ton of problems now when I tried to move Hoobs over to a TPLink Deco mesh network. Hoobs doesn't even show up even after connecting it to the main mesh hub. Any suggestions?
Disconnect the power supply of the HOOBS Box. Make sure the ethernet cable is flushed and connected to the main node. Then power the device again. After a couple of seconds - you should see network traffic lights lit up and Your network must have assigned an IP address. Let me know if it worked for you.
I looking for a homebridge working on a VM. I like the idea of a snapshot try something if doesn’t work rollback the snapshot. I just don’t know how to program. This way is easier. I don’t know nothing about Linux. So I’m not sure if I made a homebridge running on a distro vm on my Mac mini. Or if I run on a Synology with docker. I wish there’s a manager for docking like parallels, make a copy of a container (like a vm) and see how things run. I’m a mac guy who knows Synology, networking and mac. But know zero coding.
Thank you for this video. I just started it up for the first time and for some reason, there's no QR code showing up in the upper left corner of dashboard as shown in your videos. What does that mean? I'm also unable to log into terminal, and unable to update the Hoobs. Pointers would be appreciated - maybe create a video for potential troubleshooting issues when setting up Hoobs? (after the 5 common basic errors you did ...good video :) )
Hey Matt. When there's no QR code available in Bridges means there's a configuration error - so you may want to check the logs of the configured plugin - the logs is the 3rd icon on the left. To access the terminal - follow the below guide and run the script to fix the update issue and will look into a trouble shooting video as well cheers - 1. Login to the HOOBS Box via SSH on your computer. On MacOS use the Terminal app and type: ssh hoobs@192.168.XX.XX (you can find the assigned IP address from your router) Type yes to accept the certificate key then press enter. When prompted for password, type hoobsadmin On Windows, use Putty with the same credentials as above. 2. After successfully logging in, paste the following command: curl -sk dl.hoobs.org/fix | sudo bash - This will take some time to run

Eddie, Another good video. I asked you this on another video. Do you have a solution for installing HomeBridge on a Synology NAS running DSM 7.0? Thanks.

Great video! I have an issue running homebridge in docker on my NAS using portainer, if by mistake I restart my NAS restarts are an update or I manually restart my NAS, my homebridge just resets everything gone. I have to restore it using the backup file to get it to work again. It’s quite frustrating. Any solutions for this? P.S. I have a reserved ip for my NAS though.
Hello Rupam - I had my setup on a Synology NAS and restarted it multiple times but never had the config disappear. Can you try setting Homebridge by using this package - github.com/oznu/homebridge-syno-spk/releases/tag/1.3.0
Hey Joshua... The CPU load could be some plugin or service running in the back ground. With regards to the temperature ... ensure there is some kind of ventilation and the device is not stored in a warm place.
Hello, I really like your videos and I have learned how to use Hoobs because of them. I have installed several ewelink and other device brands. Other brand devices work like normal but the ewelink devices don’t execute commands, it appears in the interface like normal but they don't respond. If you can help me I would really appreciate the help. Thank you
Glad you like them! Check your HOOBS logs when you try to execute the command - it will give you a feedback and another way is to try to control the devices in the HOOBS Accessories section. If it doesnt work - then check the logs again.

Hey Joao - my recommendation is use Docker & Install Homebridge thru your Synology. Works flawlessly. Takes away all the headache :)

Does anyone know how to get rid of plug-in’s that are stuck in Homebridge from an old instance
You can clear cache. Click on the 3 dots - Homebridge settings > Remove single cached accessory
I’m new here. Thank you, great content

So my home bridge says the CPU is 80% load and 156°F is that ok?

It cost me a day to find out that hoobs can't connect to the main asus router with aimesh, when a network swith is sitting right next to the router.
Yes. Need to connect to the main node or the switch that’s connected to it
Thank you!
