I inherited my dad's '96 7.3 back in June of this year. Drove it home over 2000 miles from San Diego to Nashville TN. Was so impressed with the truck that I decided to completely go through the truck. Keep it on the road for another 20+ years. I feel that finding your site is going to help me meet that goal.

Inherited my step-dad's 7.3 F250 in 2019, feeling exactly like you! My goal for 2024 is to have that 2002 roll like a 2020 and thanks to Clint I'll likely get close enough! Custom Works is without a doubt god sent help! Cheers!

+ 1 on OBS content. When she started, looks like she blew a rat nest out the tail pipe. Did you check the air filter/intake for rodents? Looking forward to this series. Also, reviving an old battery the correct way would be interesting.

I had a 95 F150 5spd manual 4x4..with manual transfer case. It was just like this one, but with the 302. I loved that truck so much (super cab- eddie bauer edition).. But it was crazy gutless when towing heavy trailers. So after I was well passed 300k miles and it spun a bearing; I upgraded to a 2002 F350 7.3L 6spd Manual, 4x4 (manual- w/ manual locking hubs). So this thing hits all the funny bones. :) ... My old truck, with my new trucks' engine. What a treat

I just bought a 94.5 drove it from Portland to Kansas City to Portland to Kansas City about 7k miles had the heater core start leaking then it started losing a lot of oil from the rear of the driver side head area the water pump went out fuel pump twice which turned out to be the pickup tube icp sensor besides that lmao a great truck

Thank you Clint for starting up a new series, I started a new Word document and intend to log the URLs and include some basic content on what you covered in each video... I see a lot of "NaySayers" from self professed "gurus" on the Ford forums, and think they are way to filled with their own Egos to admit to "down to Earth, just tell us what we need to know"
I appreciate the efforts you put into these videos.... I bought a 2002 7.3L 4wd Excursion 14 months ago... your Video series has helped me tremendously.... Keeping me on track with just "fixing it right" and not over doing it.

Hello Clint, I sure do appreciate your Chanel you have led me down the right path on a number of occasions, And I thank you for you videos that have really helped, my 96 7.3 was leaking oil from the hpop so I took it off to reseal all O rings put it back on it was leaking so I took it back off and found oil on the 10 mm bolts that mount the pump to the timing cover, I don't remember seeing oil on them bolts when I took it off the first time, is normal to see oil on those bolts?

Hello Clint. First of all, thanks for sharing your knowledge on these beautiful motors. I have a 97 f350 with 380k miles. Runs like a champ but am considering switching to an electric fuel pump. I’ve only had to change my mechanical pump once since I bought it about 9 yrs ago. I remember you mentioning a brand of fuel pumps you use, but couldn’t find that video again. Which would you recommend?

I see you drive a GM product, I also own a 2007 Yukon Denali XL, 6.2L non DOD. There are 4 vehicles that I consider "long run" vehicles, the Powerstroke 7.3, the GM Tahoe/Yukon series, Jeep Cherokee with 4.0/AW4 and mid 2000 Subaru Outbacks, I own o e of each. They just keep going!

Thanks for the video I appreciate your channel it’s really helpful. But. I was wondering if you could help me with my 94 73. I replaced my battery terminals for it after it was having starting issues. It started great and ran well with no issues after putting 140 miles on it the check engine light came on and off an on again then broke down on me a few miles later. The ground to the block from the starter battery had came off. I put it back on with a start but no crank I checked the batteries starting relay and starter but they were good, any idea what it might be.

Hey Clint, I am rebuilding my AB injectors for my early 99 7.3. I have watched your injector series and ordered the kit with tools from Bitteroot. I am having an issue with two of the injectors getting the right gap for armature. It seems that I am sanding the crap out of the poppet shim and getting very very small amounts of gap. Also, just to check before sanding shim I tried one shim from kit and got over .004 with feeler. I really could use a short phone call with you to figure this out. I've done everything step by step as you did on pro rebuild video and don't understand how you just hit both sides of shim quickly with 1000 grit and I am sanding with 4, 5, 6, and 1000....not getting far lol. Help please

I have a 02 7.3L 330k miles bough it with just over 200k replaced injector cups but I’m having injector o-rings constantly failing like once or twice a year and it’s never the compression ring failing it’s the hpop blowing back into the fuel system and smokes exhaust smells. Should I not use petroleum jelly to install the new motorcraft rings or should I buy international injector o rings

just a question. I have a 2001 F250 with the 7.3, with around 196,000 miles on it. A few weeks ago my wife and I went camping pulling our camper. It seem to struggle this time. Never seemed to struggle before. Camper is roughly 9,000 lbs loaded. I have towed it 5 hours to the beach from are house in Georgia. Now on the last beach trip it was blowing off the down pipes boots at the inter cooler on the way home. My truck for the most part is stock. original turbo and injectors. No tunes. It does have a 4'' exhaust. I did replace the up pipes a year ago do to the original ones started leaking. I didn't have any lights come on and there are no codes to indicate a issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    • @CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD

I would consider new boots to start with amzn.to/3tDZIGq amzn.to/3Fkkfm0 amzn.to/495uRTI
since there was no po codes the fuel pressure should be checked post pump and at the bowl under load but from what your telling me it really sound like new boots would correct the issue also check connections at uppipes to turbo and manifold and post turbo connection

Yes but there has to be wire modifications if its a swap// or the 03 computer won't understand the older technology there are many ways to do this but not enough time or space to explain all the variations
