I cannot believe I found this video that is the EXACT problem I'm having with my pressure washer!!! I consider it a MIRACLE because I had no clue what was happening with all the water gushing out of the handle!!! So cool I found this instructional video. Many thanks!!!!!
I was given a pressure washer a few weeks ago, the guy said it leaks by the handle... I checked and at first thought... well hell a new handle and i gotta good washer... but seeing this makes me think I can fix that and have the whole set up for next to nothing...
There are three sizes of o rings required for this gun: O.D 10mm, I.D 6mm, Cross-section 2mm. O.D 12mm, I.D 8mm, Cross-section 2mm. O.D 8mm, I.D 5mm, Cross-section 1.5mm.
What are the dimensions/parameters of the transparent gasket on the very front of this white piston (see 1:52 the index finger of the left hand points to where it is located). It's not a classic black NBR rubber o-ring, but a strangely shaped sealing ring of transparent material that hardens after years and crumbles (not very flexible) when you try to touch it. I have a leak just on this seal. After several years of use, water has cut a gap in it and it leaks by turning the pump on and off every few seconds, as the pressure in the gun alternately drops and rises when the pump motor is automatically turned on. I couldn't find this seal anywhere, which probably costs a few cents, and yes I have to buy the whole gun for $45 plus shipping.
thanks, i fixed mine with this video! instead of using your tape, i used a rubber band. it's amazing how a tiny o-ring can completely render a large device useless. :)
Great vid, four years later and still saving the day, this was the exact problem my pressure washer started having today and this worked perfect, thank you!
Thank you so much for this. My o-rings looked good on my electric washer hose / gun combo has 2 rings on the hose, but for some reason sometimes, when i stop spraying, it starts leaking like crazy. Today, it started leaking no matter what. Teflon tape for the win. Thank you so much.
Thank you very much for this video. I bought an electric power washer that had this same missing o-ring; however, I didn't realize there needed to be an o-ring where it was missing until I watched this video. Again, thank you very much, and I subscribed to your channel because of this one video.
Awesome! I fired my electric one up today for the first time in 5 years at least and wow, did that handle leak! I am betting I need 1 or 2 "O" rings but I do have Teflon tape to get me by tomorrow. I will be taking the spray handle apart in the morning. Thank you so, so much!!! Great video!!
One of the best videos in the leak related to pressure washer out there. Very detailed, thanks for explaining why there no need for o-ring on the second groove, man that had driven me mad. Thank you just doesn't sound good enough, You have saved me from a lot of frustration God bless, good man
This video is very helpful since here in Denmark, when leak happens we always call someone to do it and pay. This one helps us to save money and do it by our self
I have basically the same handle. The handle doesn't leak under just the regular water pressure, When powered on it leaks from that white plastic valve on the side that points toward the handle I even changed the o ring there is still a leak there when it runs. any suggestions? do you know the o ring size is it metric? thanks
I did get a new handle, washed my tractor once and after a month of sitting in garage it was the same story again. I guess a good idea is to disconnect the handle from hose while storing it so that o-ring doesn't get deformed over time.
Bought a used pressure washer last night for a cheap price, it's specified it's leak but the machine is fine. Thanks to your video now I've found the leak like you said and temp fixed it! now gotta search that O-ring you mentioned for a permanent fix! are these O-ring one size fits most? or you have a specific dimension for each? mine looks very similar to yours, what's the size of your O-ring?
Glad that this vid helped you save the trouble of isolating the source of the leak! I believe the size of the o-ring differs across brands and models. The best way is to bring your pressure washer (or at least the wand and hose) with you to the store and do an actual fit. I hope this tip helps.
Very good video, just having the. Same problem, I tryed already the same with teflon tape, the out side works well, but the Jose conector just need more teflon thought. In the mean time I found the O rings; Thank you very much, I subscribed 👍🏼👋🏾 best regards.
Thank you for your clear instructions. Out of curiosity, was the o-ring you purchased designed for use under high pressure? How well has it held up? On different note, while I found your explanation helpful, the four ad breaks in addition to the initial ad for a video less than 10 minutes was enough to keep me from subscribing. Well, that and the volume of the extraneous sound effects.
Let's just say that the o-ring i used lasted longer than the pressure washer itself. The video you watched is over a year old and I'd like to believe I have come a long way in terms of improving the quality of my more recent videos. I encourage you to visit my channel and watch some of them. As for the number of ads, it's the only way for me to compensate for the amount of time and effort i put behind creating my videos, which on average takes me 3-4 weeks. Regardless if you subscribe or not, I still appreciate that you watched something you found value in, for free 🤗
Yo nice video. The gun I have is different from all the others. It's for an AR blue electric but the gub has an adjustment piece that doesn't tighten and it has been leaking there ever since it was brand new!! Any clues?
Never fails to surprise me. Very commendable. I can see the time spent making this video. Another job well done kapatid. Hope people who wants to do handy finds your channel too soon. Ps: that close captions helps a lot. Awesome!👍👍
I see you're using Teflon tape for a temporary repair. I got a much better solution because mine's quick and Permanent Forever. Use an earphones rubber. Everyone has these around. Just remove the rubber ear piece, from any old earphones and put it where the o ring go's. put it on the fitting backwards and seat it in place. Then pop the ear bud inside out and cut off the excess with a pair of scissors, does not need to be ever replaced again. Also works on blown o rings in connector adaptors. Better than any o ring.
Hey FC - having hard time picturing what you are describing as alternative to using teflon/plumbers tape. Can you provide a picture or two (or +3) of an 'earphone rubber ear piece' and then posted in Ur YT Channel or share a link here pointing to a DropBox, Google photos or other public facing sharing location? TIA
opened mine up, checked and no cracks - all O rings are in place with no damages. turned off it doesnt leak and works fine but once i turn the jetwash on it starts leaking from the bottom of athe handle, im using the same one as in this video but nothing seemed to work
Excellent video. Practical and effective. Have another question though. When I opened up my wand, I got distracted on another project that took a week. When I got back to the wand, embarrassingly I can't find the spring that pushes back on the stem to shut the water off. I've got a Husky H1800s electric washer and can't locate the spring anywhere. Any creative ideas on how to solve the problem? whether you have one or not, I'll be going through your other videos. They're very well done!
Yes, this happens to me too 😅 First thing i would suggest is get a picture of the spring thru online stores, forums, owners manual, etc. It's important that your replacement spring should be the same dimension and "tension". Then i would try looking for it from the store you bought your washer from, auto supply stores, nuts & bolts store, or even online sellers. I hope this helps 👍 PS Not all my videos are great, esp my first few ones but i do try to improve continuously. Thanks so much for the support 🙏
i need to check this method, my Black&decker started leaking after the engine kept engaging and i could seem to get full pressure. Then i heared a pop and water started poring out like this one. all o-rings are in tact though.
I work at a Auto Parts store, and my manager told me that there’s an antifreeze type lubricant that if you run it through your wand after every use, it will keep your o-rings lubricated and keep them from cracking. This will allow you to use the pressure washer longer and saves your o-rings.
Well you did the typical thing and start with the pressure line hose and wand being disconnected , and that is where my leaks is. Problem for me is that I cannot separate the threaded collar from the wand, the plastic sheath that you turn to loosen and tighten, just spins, and the brass threaded wand and hose connection do not tighten or loosen. How do you remove such a hose connection, because that is where it is leaking, the pressure hose is only threaded on half way, I cannot tighten or loosen, the plastic black turn sheath is obviously stripped, so I guess I should throw both away and buy replacment pressure hose and wand, since I cannot turn the fitting without destroying the plastic and brass fitting?
What’s the part name of the quick disconnect system , the plastic piece that connects the hose to the stem. Mine has a crack , don’t want to buy a new handle.
Hi HanDIYman 007 Nice video, Could you tell me what can I do if "the gun" don't stop shooting water, the trigger is not broken, is just that doesn't work at all... thank you!
@@HanDIYman007 Thank you @HandIYman 007 I disassembled the gun nothing was broken! I used the teflon tape on each o'ring I found and the gun stopped shooting water! but for a couple of minutes. it looks like the o'rings that are inside the gun, are to dry. When you pull the trigger the teflon tape gets removed by friction. Now I know what to do. I have to replace the o'rings just as you recommended. I had a lot of fun doing this. Thank you very much @HanDIYman 007
You actually can fix cracks by using J-B Weld. The pressure it is resistant to is usually a lot higher than what the actual pressure washer is putting out.
The first wand in video......what "kind", "style" fitting is the end of that hose called, besides quick connect? I am trying to find an adapter to fit on that style hose but has the more popular m22 end to screw onto another wand. Thanks
im using the same gun mine has crack on inlet neck corner for few month im tried to find spare part for that not found any... im using black decker waterjet .. its so wasteful to buy new gun my old gun still working good just small part is broken im tried to used heated plastic welding and it crack back after few days because those inlet neck are made from plastic .. all those leaking in the video already happen to me its easy fix just replace the O ring.. this time im try to fix it for last time and decided to buy new gun
hahahah untill i saw the end... yup B&D did yours started doing this when the engine would not shut down? Thats how mine started today, was doing dome working, i adjusted the pressure and the motor wouldnt stop. Could hardly pull the trigger, then heard a pop and water came gushing out. I disassembled it but did not see a crack or what so. Hope your fix also works for mine, i do have both o rings on both sides of the pressure hose though
Yes, a motor incessantly running (sometimes by itself) is a symptom of a faulty o-ring (because there's little to no pressure being contained anymore). Don't be fooled, inspect your o-rings very closely -- at first glance, they may look fine but look again under bright light or even with a magnifying glass.
I got a nilfisk pressure washer i bought a gun with the same connector like yours that replaces the original one and came accross the same problem. I got tired of that type of connector and bought a new hose that connects to my another new gun with an m22 connector. Now my problem is i thought all m22 fittings are the same seems like my nilfisk washer m22 water outlet is a tad smaller than the m22 hose that i bought. Im planning to buy an adaptor online im just worried that i might buy a wrong adaptor and waste some money. Any advice on what to look for in the product description or a place locally where i can buy a tad smaller female to a tad bigger male m22 adaptor. I hope im making sense. Thanks
I'm not really into replacing my connectors with anything other than what the original specs are. But if you really want to go down this route, my recommendation is not to purchase online but instead bring your entire unit to a local store and do actual test fits -- this is the only way to be sure you are getting the perfect fit. I hope this helps.
Great video, thank you. My problem was the spring had weakened inside the handle. I tried to find a replacement but after a long time I gave up and ordered a new handle for £15 which is fine to get up and running again but I always prefer to fix stuff. Strangely, I wasn't surprised to see you got the O ring from an auto parts store. As I was watching and before the reveal, I thought I would try my local one here in UK first and then ask if they know where else to try if they couldn't help :) Thanks again for the video, you explain it really well.
Hey thanks so much, I appreciate it! Honestly, if I wasn't desperate enough, I wouldn't have thought of looking for the o-ring from an auto parts store 😅

@@HanDIYman007 I had to buy a new wand.
informative video thanks for sharing
Sir, saan po service center ng car wash machine? TY po Greg Natividad Baler, Aurora
Hey. Can I ask where you got a replacement handle?
