- Hi, this is my first attempt at a review and my first experience with a flugelhorn.
I was pretty nervous when I was filming and it shows in the playing :)
I had changed the title to say "trumpet" as I wanted to see what responses I got-I have changed it back now.
Enjoy - Розваги
Sounds surprisingly good
You did good. I have taken an interest in plastic instruments. This was very helpful.
Great video man. Really helpfull
I’m just curious why it is titled with Trumpet, rather than Flugelhorn?
Because I renamed it as an experiment :)
Yea I was a bit confused about it too
The plastic fantastic horns, sound really decent, for the price, I just got a Tromba flügelhorn, it's a mellow fellow....
That’s what you want in a flugelhorn, a mellow fellow.
I wonder if a Denis Wick flugelhorn mouthpiece would give a perfect match. Normally these sound very dark and full, the perfect velvet sound but they require hard work. On a plastic instrument, it might be a bit lighter blowing on them. My experience with a plastic trumpet is too, that it plays lighter and certainly on soft volumes.
Thanks for the review. Definitely way more affordable than metal horns. If sound and playability is good, may get one.
Hey mate, a year later how does it hold up? Thinking of getting one.
I wish these were readily available in the U.S.
I play my fluglehorn everyday at the beach and its taken a beaten, I want one of those, while I get my adams f5 fixed, im afraid I won't have one soon...
Hey...Do you live on the SC Hinterland? (I saw your Kondalilla clip). I'm a Maleny keyboard player who, instead of getting a Harley Davidson as a mid life crisis consolation gift decided to learn a brass instrument, something I have never played in my entire 50 odd years. There's something about a flugel horn I have always loved and so decided to purchase the ZO flugel from OzWinds (considering the brass versions far too expensive, particularly if I was going to be dreadful at it). I've had it about 2 months now and attempt to practice regularly. I used to practice up at the lookout in Reeseville so as not to drive the family and neighbours mad, but can now practice at home as I'm starting to improve in volume and tone control. With hard work I'm hoping to get up to a standard that I can actually play it in public. One day I might even reach the top C. Cheers even if you don't live on the Hinterland.
Thanks for that, I live in Brisbane. Good on you for taking up the flugelhorn, don't worry about the volume, horns are loud, plus it gives you incentive to develop control to play quietly. I am strictly amateur being a returning player after several decades. Play in public, remember if you make a mistake do it twice and it becomes Jazz
Hi, I stick in a harmon trumpet mute with a removable cup and it quiets it way done with less bass tone.
I am learning Hayden concerto 3rd movement for college auditions. Any tips?
Keep doing what you are doing- you are probably a lot better than me :)
I've watched a lot of reviews lately and have a question: When did we start calling them water valves and not spit valves?
When the myth that's it's actually "spit" lost purchase...
It's condensation, not spit, so water keys or water valves is closer to the truth.
theyre called either or, it seems mostly to be preference
Nice Take 5
Just curious, what is the benefits of having wrap around the valves?
Hi, I was using them to protect the brass as there is no lacquer on those horns, I have since taken it off as it was reacting with the raw brass and proved counter productive
The wrap helps stop corrosion and rust.
@@untld_scpe973 only on laquered horns, without laquer they react with the brass and trap moisture I think
Nice review. The only other plastic flugelhorn I know of is the Tromba, which also gets generally positive reviews except for some issues with sticky valves. I wonder how the Zo compares to the Tromba.
Thanks, I haven't played a Tromba
Whats the name of the piece you were playing in the beginning of the video
Hey mate, Take 5 by Paul Desmond
I like it! Sounds excellant. Please tell me, send me a message. Where is it made?
Hi, I am not sure where they are made but they are pretty easy to come by online or at music shops
Not a trumpet but still fire
He renamed the title as an experiment :)
thats not a trumpet, its a flugelhorn
He renamed it as an experiment :)
Plastic "trumpet"?
I know, I changed the title to test a theory :)😀
@@Richard-deValmont Ok... I hope your findings were good
@@Richard-deValmont Yes, it will definitely make people angry. (There is definitely something irritating about it)
sounds like plastic.
These things are WAY overpriced !
