I appreciate your review. I understand also your choice of color as non lethal. My concern is that a potential attacker(s) may see this as a toy and will not be deterred by appearance alone forcing you to have to discharge the launcher. If it was the colors of traditional firearms that potential attacker might be deterred by appearance alone and discharging it may not become necessary. Not that I am by any means endorsing brandishing the launcher. Having it a non lethal color may also stop law enforcement from making an error that you are holding a live weapon if they happen upon the scene, however with all the cerecoating options that people can have done on firearms making them look like toy guns that may not be of any advantage. I am looking at a less then lethal carry option because of all the legal ramifications of discharging a live firearm in a self defense scenario. The good guy with a gun is looked upon as bad as the bad guy with a gun today. I am also wanting to have this to carry when traveling as some states will not honor or reciprocate on CCP's issued in other states.
I've been carrying a Byrna Hi Viz model which was designed for Police, Security, and Military. I've had it for the past year and spent dozens of hours practicing with it to the point that I can hit a 2 inch target at 20ft with all 5 rounds no problem. My son has one as well because he was taken hostage last November by an armed drunk guy on the commuter train he was riding home from school on when we lived in California. You can buy the kinetic rounds which are much more effective for stopping aggressors instead of using Pepperballs which can get you in trouble for discharging of a chemical weapon in a public venue. The Byrna is legal in California except in San Francisco because San Francisco passed a local law that stops people from owning it because it was hurting the criminals who were trying to rob people and the DAs didn't like that. The Pepperballs have always been illegal for civilians unless youve taken the Chemical Certification Exam, but Governor Newsom changed the rules last Spring so civilians can no longer take the Chemical Certification Exam through Byrna and the BSIS anymore. He only wants Police, Military, and Criminals to have access to Pepperball ammo now. The Kinetic rounds travel at over 210 mph which will really really hurt when they hit, I know because I got accidentally shot in the ribs by someone. Anyone who carries a firearm should carry a LTL launcher if nothing else so they don't have to deal with the legal issue that come with discharging a firearm if some nut tries something stupid. I currently have a 16 shot 40 Joules shottie on the way for home protection so I dont have to use my 9mm if I can avoid it.
Damn it’s illegal in sf? I moved here for work and was thinking of getting one. I still might cuz I’d rather deter an attack and ask for forgiveness later.
Very informative and concise essay, thank you. At those costs and what it does I think I'll stick with my sword and the real gun I own. These have their place, just not for me at those prices
I live in Florida where most of the California issues don't exist. I have 6 firearms and a rifle. There's one additional reason for a civilian to have a Byrna. I'm 75 years old and live in a retirement area. Short of being robbed at gunpoint, most issues that I'm likely to face don't call for lethal force, yet I might need an equalizer. The Byrna is great for those situations. People may be shot with a firearm and not know it immediately. But if their eyes and throat are burning and they're coughing and choking, they can't help but notice and discontinue whatever they're doing.
Byrna runs sale promotions often so you won't need to wait long to get 25% off and free shipping. Had mine (orange) a year now. Super accurate in no time, so fun to practice with reusable rounds. Remember to always keep an UNpunctured CO2 cartridge in it so you are 100% ready to protect yourself and loved ones.
How many shots can you get in on 1 co2 cartrdge? And how long can you leave that punctured co2 cartridge in the byrna, or does it all have to be used up at one time?
@@HK-uj9qc about 20 shots on one CO2 cartridge. You will only ever want to keep a new, unpunctured one in your launcher if it is sitting unused and loaded for any amount of time. You will not want to rely on a partially used cartridge to be effective over time because it will leak. An unpunctured cartridge will not leak and the first shot squeezed off the trigger punctures it so the launcher is effective for each magazine. Cartridges and eco rounds are inexpensive enough to take out for target practice and shoot until the cartridge is depleted. Always wear safety glasses when changing cartridges.
@@kp2874 I picked up the LE launcher kit. Still haven't tested it out. Which ones are the reusable rounds? Mine came with 3 different types but they all sound similar
Ex- law enforcement(25 years), now private security operator. Thank you very much for a VERY clear description on these weapons. Your presentation is clearly coming from many years of defense systems. I'm still involved in daily Martial Arts lectures to youngsters and will definitely remember your clear presentation.👏👏
Here the thing about the ammo. It is reusable. How many times do you think you'll actually need them. For target practice, one bottle is fine. Buy or make a trap to recover your practice rounds. They also have two specific target rounds for sale. One is reusable, the other disperses and is safe for environment in a powder burst on impact. So, having the 20 rounds that come with the gun + 1 bottle of 95 practice rounds, are going to go a long ways to save you a ton of money. You will need the new c02 cartridges, though.
@@johnreed2278 No, The CO2 cartridge doesn't pierce until the first tie you pull the trigger. That said, as with any self defense tool, you should check your system and perform maintenance. I've never had to fire mine in defense, thankfully, but I still perform maintenance on my launcher ever 6 months. At least once a year (do ti more but AT LEAST) 1. Check your cartridge 2 .Check your ammo - while rare, the pepper balls can degrade especially if subjected to severe climate changes. Meaning if it's in your car, you're car is going to get really hot and really cold throughout the year. 3. Test fire the system at least once a year. Yes, it's not a "gun" but you still need to be trained and ready. Test firing also means you test the functionality. Use the whole CO2 cartridge. Use the hard balls as test fire balls. Use a capture target, or even (several) cardboard boxes. These will penetrate but you can reuse them. 4. After test firing, add a drop or 2 of oil. They sell specific oil, light machine oil works too. If you don't know, go with what they sell. Byrna has instructions. Being honest, will the launcher fire when you need it if you don't do any of this? Maybe. Probably. Do you want to take that chance? Probably not at the time. Be ready, stay prepared.
This guys is awesome. Clear and to the point. I wonder if he does voice overs. I feel like I've heard that voice before. Thank you for the great information.
The kinetic rounds are very reasonable. They are only $49.00 for 95 of them. They are reusable if you don't fire them into a very hard surface, like a concrete wall or a steel target.
This guy is great. I hope he's in some role in which he's teaching/instructing people - he's an excellent speaker, a skill that's surprisingly rare in a country full of native speakers. He just made my short list of greatest communicators in America - people who are clear articulators who aren't just making sounds with their mouths, but actually communicating the ideas in the heads in a way that nothing is lost in translation. People might be curious who else I consider on this list - Greg Hartley, former Army interrogator, host of the Behavior Panel. And the other person Luke Thomas (MMA journalist).
Joel owns and teaches numerous shooting and security classes. He also teaches CCW courses in San Diego. I called his company about CCW class info, and he personally returned my call. He is a straight forward and honest business owner who wants to help as many people as possible to attain their CCW in California, not such a simple thing to do. I also own a Byrna in international signal orange. I want it clear to any law enforcement officers that I am not holding a lethal firearm. Good work Joel...keep up the updates. I am a subscriber.
I own a Byrna launcher and since I have not had a need to use it for years it just sits in an optimal place. My concern was the shelf life of the projectiles since they were so expensive... This was their reply... "Optimal shelf life for the chemical projectiles is around 18 months from the delivery date. The chemicals remain potent for much longer than this, however the chemical cloud may not disperse as well which can reduce the effectiveness of the projectiles after 18 months. " ... Does anyone have any real life experiences with this?
Walking the dog, attacked by 3 medium sized dogs off their leash, with Byrna LE and Max OC/CS balls shot all 3 in two seconds, dogs hauled butt. We also have Black bears in the area, the air horn works best, but I carry a Byrna as back up. The Byrna also makes a loud pop that will help to deter an animal.
Excellent break down. We're doing a Private Police Department and we plan on using these rounds and the ones in an AR platform. And yes, we will have Lethal, but last resort.
Great video. Their ads say it is nonlethal which seems to be giving people false impressions. Great job clarifying. It would have been nice to hear someone with your experience also talk about the quality of how it operates.
This video definitely helped. The cost sticker shock swayed me from purchasing. Also, you mention some criminals don't feel pain which are the people I'm trying to defend against.
How about a sig for everywhere? I do agree with his point that it can be useful for people that are restricted from carrying a real gun. Price is way too much.
@@theslowwalker salt S2 is only 3" longer and has better numbers than the Byrna LE. At least get the LE if you are gonna do byrna, it is 5 joules more power and 50fps and uses the 12 gram co2 cartridge
I am a two-time. Recovered FELON. I asked Owasso, Oklahoma PD? They said NO. Last week. Then I approached Oklahoma Highway Patrol? They said YES! ONLY IF!! It is the orange/black version. I am okay with that. So. IF you are a Felon. And still want to protect yourself? OR your Family. Give your local law enforcement a call. It worked out for me. And I have terrible luck.
Be careful. Some of those statutes can rope in ppl for imitation guns. Maybe get a letter from the DAs office in the counties you are around. They will be the ones interpreting the law and deciding whether there is a violation at the end of the day, regardless of what the police think
I got one of these for my truck. After a few weeks, I took it out to show a friend but when I tried to fire it I found out the gas had leaked enough that I could not fire it. The paperwork does mention that there is some leakage but does not give timelines/expectations. I have put it in my bedroom as non-lethal option and have the magazine out/ready to twist the co2 cartridge but my first option will be lethal if there is no time. I bought a new unit from Big5 for $80 that activates the cartridge by slamming the bottom on a surface so I know it will be ready whenever I need it. I have looked at a few of these "Review" videos but NONE talk about this issue.
Apparently, you did not buy a Byrna. The Byrna costs about $400. The Byrna does not puncture the CO2 cartridge until you fire the first shot. Thus, there is zero leakage.
@@PDSClasses that’s correct. My second unit is not Byrna. I couldn’t recall the brand/model but it normally sells for around $120 at Big5 and I got it on sale. The leakage problem solved but, Byrna has detachable magazines which the cheaper model does not. I was hoping that someone had a third party option for Byrna? Or maybe one of these companies could do better research and have a better solution?
It may not leak until cartridge is punctured; however, in my experience, if pulling the trigger for initial puncture, you're losing the ability to fire that first round; in a dangerous situation, that delay could be lethal.
Byrna has a high non- fire issue and it is well documented and nothing to do with the trigger pierce system. The Salt S2 is half the price and the velocity numbers are what the LE was "supposed " to be and the S2 FPS barely drops with each round vs the Byrna which tanks every round. The only downside is it is a strike to pierce system but you can tap the pistol on your leg or any hard surface and able to keep one hand free.
it’s worth it, 192 LBS 6’2 man tried to run me off the road on my motorcycle, was followed to a gas station and had to use it (i load like this: first round is normal pepper spray, second is max pepper spray, third is a kinetic, 4 and 5 are kinetic MAX. works great
Why do states make it so hard for Law Abiding Citizen to get firearms? Meanwhile ,Criminals get them with no concern about what the law says. California ,New York ,Yall need to wake up.
They don't awake up, they just start moving to red states when things get bad, and then begin voting to change the laws over there into the mess that they just ran away from.
Criminals get their guns illegally. It's not your job to protect yourself, that's why the police exist. Owning a gun is a precautionary measure. The reason why your gun needs to be licensed and registered, so law enforcement can separate you from the criminals who posses loose fire arms. People don't need to wake up, you just need to inform yourself, of your state's gun ordnance and regulation laws.
I have a byrna, I like it I have not had to use it on anyone, but I have had to draw it and that was enough luckily for me. the main thing I like is it does not puncture the air until I pull the trigger
I’m considering one of these since SB2 passed in CA on January 1, 2024, and my CCW is near worthless. The LE version hits much harder, and is CA legal for non LE civilians; it is going to be available mid January. The downside is quick deployment because of the size; it’s close to the size of a full sized service weapon.
Yes. As long as you hit the upper chest or in the face I've shot one of these the pepper ball rises and spreads out and looks for an air opening. Face. mouth. Nose. i bought my gun . I made the mistake firing one of the pepper balls for target practice. It almost knocked me out. Basically if you use the pepper balls they will be choking on their own air. They will get their breath after a while. It will not kill anybody. They also have nerve gas balls mixed with pepper spray. So my advice is to buy one of these guns. You get a kit for 325 d Includes the gun. 10 pepper balls. 2 air. Capsules. 10 practice balls. 10 white hard balls. Also two clips. The company also sells tear gas spray which is only $20. I was really impressed with this company.
Great video, thank you. I live in NY and our gun lays are really strict. Was thinking of gettingbone of these for my wife. She has been followed a couple of times in a store and out to her car. Do you think this would be a good option for her? I have talked to local police and the Bryna is legal where we live. Thanks again for your time.
She would be better off with a fixed blade knife to be honest. If your wife was grabbed god forbid, she would have to try to reach in her purse to get this pepper ball gun, the bad guy would just take her purse. Have her carry a fixed blade knife inside her waistband for easy and quick access
I also bought the seven round magazine. It was $42 at Amazon. The Byrna is good up to about sixty feet. The pepper ball releases pepper spray and tear gas which will disable a person for a time. It affects the respiratory because you’ll have trouble breathing for a time. A container of twenty pepper balls cost me $120 at Amazon.
$600 is a lot of money until you NEED it, then it's worth it. And if you do HAVE to use it, I suspect the legal consequences would be significantly less than using a firearm.
I agree! Less lethal means im not buying black! I’m have the LE orange and run a security company. A lot of the public sees it on me and ask if its a taser. ITS A GREAT VISIBLE DEFERENT. I still use a can of pepper spray and prefer to use the can of pepper before drawing my Byrna. Im always maintaining a safe distance and asking myself do i have another option to “get away”…..even my Byrna is a last resort to getting away from the risk or the bad guy
California resident here. Due to my job (parts driver), and since I can't use the CS balls, I carry an Umarex (it's similar to this) defense since I have often over 5k worth of items and some of the shops I deliver to aren't in the nicest parts of town, and almost got mugged once on the job, but this dissuaded the perp. The umarex hdp 50 is around $110 and shoots at 350 fps or so I know SF won't allow these things, and CA as a whole aren't allowed to use pepper. It's annoying to live in CA, but we make do with what we got.
I'd just move to another state if I lived in CA. But, don't come to TX (we carry real firearms here) or TN (real ones there too) because all the CA people moving here are trying to change our state into CA. We DON'T like that and it will NEVER EVER happen. Go to MO, MS, AL or IL. How about NY, CT, MA, ME, VT, NH or any other liberal state.
Thanks for the Video, I have a 9mm Springfield XD for home protection, but feel that this product would do great for personal protection when being away from home. Unfortunately nowadays, there are people who would rather rob you for a quick buck, rather than try to better their own lives, and will prey on anyone they feel they have an advantage over.
I ride horses and out on the trails ,when your by yourself it would be handy especially when you how a run in with dogs .I haven't bought one yet ,it is on my list of things to buy
Regarding security guards: over the past 30 years I've been licensed as an unarmed security guard in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. The Bryna would still be prohibited by both state regulations and company policies.
I have been thinking on getting a Bryna (to go with my real handguns) as another option if needed. On Byrna website they suggest to put the first 2 rounds as "the rubber balls" to hopefully slow the person down so you can move to a distance then your last 3 shots are pepper. (They say this is good for tight spaces like a car jacking and such, so you do not gas yourself.) but like you said the price is what is getting me, it is about the same cost as a real gun, but you have all those things (being arrested for self defense) more so then a "non-lethal"
CA,NY,NJ ,MA bursting one in the house was painful had to run like mad man to put on my gas mask on just to air out the place 😂 fron experience. Load 1 mag with kinetic and another with a combo od pepper and kinectic. Then mark them the mags...
I got a bb gun that takes Co2. Sometimes they leak and have no power to shoot the bbs. Would really suck to have that happen when you need it with this.
I bought mine from Amazon. It’s black. I wanted orange but it washed available. I keep it loaded with pepperballs. I watched a podcast that shows how to load it. This is very important! I’m a retired trucker and federal law prohibits truckers from carrying a firearm. Pepper Balls are illegal in California and New Jersey.
Maybe its been mentioned but if you dont have to keep it locked or you have kids in the house this would make a possible accessible deterrent next to the bed to give you cover till you get your $0.19 a round defense.
Thanks for the information! I am definitely going to be purchasing one for my parents for their home defense. My father is a minister and strongly doesn't believe in owning a firearm. Then my mom (jokingly) says if she had a firearm she'd use it on my father.
Best informative, honnest video! Thanks from Paris. Here we also have the JPX4 from Axeon, but the price of the amo is even more ridiculous (60euros for 4 only!) and we do have an interesting know well known SAPL CG54 (2 shots only) but very powerfull (same amo like a shotgun, only shorter, 3 types of bullets), But for me the main difference at home is just to scare away potential intruder without confronting, and risking anyone live (here in France, you're attack at you're home, you defend your self, but if the burglar is hit You get to go to jail - big time....). for the CG54 (very bulky, heavy, 2 rounds only) but trigger as loud as a shot gun. But to your point, it's full black and look like a perfect lethal weapon, which won't be a good idea if you're facing anyone who could think he's entitle to draw he's own lethal one... Game over.... Also here in France, they seem to like full black for JPX series (orange exist in Switzerland/Germany, but in France, black only... they're not thinking... just want to pretend they have a real gun.. silly IMO. Anyway thanks again for sharing!
What do you think about the Mace brand pepper spray gun? I always felt it was a good compromise. You have the intuitive, easy to use shape of a pistol; you know where you're aiming and you can use it under stress, and it's like $50! I thought it was much better than any other pepper spray can, and something you're more likely to use, even when in doubt, is better than a firearm with huge consequences if you mess up and you may not want to pull that out (certainly someone without training makes me nervous.)
Good point about the color. I thought of black because it's more hidden. I work in the woods and the crazies will be "attracked" to it, I'm sure you know what I mean. The size is a problem, I have a small frame. The possible fail is a real concern without many shots. Of course NY has an issue with the chemicals. Thanks for doing this, much appriciated.
the thing that cheesed me on the Byrna is that the safety is opposite from the 1911 platform. all that muscle memory in training is now backwards. i can see getting into a situation and putting it on safe and trying to shoot. i emailed the company to learn why they went opposite and got crickets for my trouble.
Since it is CO2 powered, it would eventually leak from the cartridge, people recommend keeping an unpierced CO2 cartridge inside the weapon for preparation.
It can stay loaded indefinitely because the CO2 is NOT pierced until you fire the first shot. Once you fire the first shot then you can change the CO2 because it will leak. So if you have to use it and you fire 3 or 4 shots don’t just put it away, change the CO2 because it will be dead next time you need it. Ok? Good. Be safe.
I really enjoyed your video and the non bias opinions, I’m a believer as well in the chemical vs the Kinetic I have personally seen a couple and a whole lot more on videos were someone dressed in layers ie jackets shirts denim were tase does not penetrate properly 40mm less lethal bounces off then law enforcement goes lethal so what’s the point a CS, pepper ball etc stills explodes on any material and is more effective in my opinion.
this was really good. have you shot it yet? i'm curious if there are 'failures' that can occur as does with firearms such as stove piping, squids, jamming, etc. ?
I don’t see a malfunction happening that’s related to a semi auto handgun, the byrna doesn’t have a slide that recoils back and it doesn’t chamber a round, also it doesn’t have an ejector. And if it had a squib load it wouldn’t be detrimental as with a firearm
@@moose9410 I didn't phrase the question well. I understand the mechanical diff's b/t the two. I was asking if there are failures that can occur [as in] the instances of a semi-auto FA. If one of those pepper rounds exploded in the chamber from the burst of the cartridge... are there odds of that happening? If so what are those odds and are they more or less than a squid's odds? If there is any chance of that I would not get one.
@@jhkindt968 it’s very possible for a pepper ball to break in the barrel. That would NOT likely cause a squib load. But if it burst in the barrel, that’s one less ball you have and it’s also going to affect you because it’s so close to you. Every pepper ball and paintball guns operate alike, in that they’re operated with a bolt of some sort that hits the ball to create pressure to force it out the barrel, breakages happen with $2,000 paintball guns, so it is likely that this $400 pepper gun can and will at some point break a ball or two. Further more, I just wouldn’t trust it. If a bad guy is running toward you and you shoot him with this pepper ball launcher, the ball will break upon impact as it is designed to do, but because your attacker is moving toward you, the “cloud” of pepper fog will just move past him. Honestly, this is all just marketing to get $400 from people by fear mongering them. A $10 can of pepper spray is far more reliable. Or, of course a firearm can be a good tool as well.
UR correct: expensive launcher AND ammo. The launcher is bulky; I suppose because of the 0.68 caliber balls it has to fire. I think that's the same caliber as standard pain ball gun. I hope Byrna will have some competition in the ammo realm to reduce prices. BTW, there may be "generic" 0.68 caliber ball ammo that works and is cheaper. I shirk from carrying mine because it's far too big for my pockets, including jacket pockets. I think a belly pack is the answer; Byrna does sell what looks like a backpack, but will one really have time to remove it AND grab the "gun" before it's too late??
GOOD REVIEW , we just had a person come into our store wielding a machete and waving it around and yelling , the door to our desk or counter is about 20 ft. he stormed that for about 5 ft. and stopped giving enough time for customers to get out the door then he stood there for a second and turned and out the door he went , called the police and they caught him and DID NOT ARREST HIM because he didn't threaten anyone , now I'm looking at options other than lethal force , I'm sure I would be in jail now if I had dropped him if I had a gun
Great info. I chose Byrna because of the "NY Compliant" claim only to be stopped at shipping. I walk to the gym before sunrise. I haven't encountered many issues - just 1 drunk trying to block me while walking who left eventually. However, my walk has a pattern and anyone can observe and attack. I have gel pepper spray but would prefer a Byrna as part of where I walk was on TV for trafficking.
there are loads of other options now. other companies have guns in 43, 50, as well as 68 caliber. and the smaller calibers are smaller guns. other companies make ammo and CO2 cartridges . Byrna also has a cheaper gun. and they also have 7 shot mags now.
It might be an option for some people but here in Florida, where I can legally carry concealed, I still resort to my small 9mm in a holster which can be easily carried. I can't conceive of carrying something of that size and try to conceal it under my T shirt.

One point of clarification: The pepper balls are not reusable. Only the polymer balls are reusable.
I know this may be a dumb question but if I have it ready to use in my car..do I have to replace the CO2 every so often even if it is not used?
@@johnreed2278 No, The CO2 cartridge doesn't pierce until the first tie you pull the trigger. That said, as with any self defense tool, you should check your system and perform maintenance. I've never had to fire mine in defense, thankfully, but I still perform maintenance on my launcher ever 6 months.
At least once a year (do ti more but AT LEAST)
1. Check your cartridge
2 .Check your ammo - while rare, the pepper balls can degrade especially if subjected to severe climate changes.
Thanks Joel. Your always informative videos are always helpful.
Saber makes one as well with dual CO2 cartridge and it's less than $200.

Exceptionally well done presentation! Respect the experience.
Excellent review. Thank you
This is a PERFECT option for RV / Campers - many or all State and National Parks do NOT allow firearms.
yes they do,,with some restriction you can now have firearms in national parks,,, the law changed in 2010.
authorized byrna dealer here and can help set you up 😁
Thanks to President Reagan you can carry a firearm in most every national park. USA - in Canada you’re a bear snack.
@blackmagic8115 it was President Obama who signed the reformed law in 2010, allowing firearms in National Parks and being subjected to state law.

thank you; that was insightful.
I thought that too he speaks like well liked teacher.
@franksilva2542 Joel is a stand up Christian man and as humble and nice as can be.
18 months not long .. if you need this product ever 1.5 years you need a gun
Very well thought out analytical analysis. I subscribed to your channel due to the intellectual quality of this review. Thank you!
Excellent break down. We're doing a Private Police Department and we plan on using these rounds and the ones in an AR platform. And yes, we will have Lethal, but last resort.
What is a private police department?
Some of your well known police are ones like your railroad police. SPCA also have Private Police . Another of universities as well.
I meant a number of college universities. A non-profit company can have private Police to secure or police there property.
@@baahiryusef5 thanks for the vocab lesson. Had no idea 🤷♂️
Very good
Byrna for outside of the house. Glock for inside the house.
no - A modified FSC, Salt S2 or Grimburg for outside the house - and a Glock for secondary outside the house
How about a sig for everywhere? I do agree with his point that it can be useful for people that are restricted from carrying a real gun. Price is way too much.
@@tyronetrump1612 Thinking of an SD as it's more concealable, especially for short round people 😁
@@theslowwalker salt S2 is only 3" longer and has better numbers than the Byrna LE.
What crime did you commit
Be careful. Some of those statutes can rope in ppl for imitation guns. Maybe get a letter from the DAs office in the counties you are around. They will be the ones interpreting the law and deciding whether there is a violation at the end of the day, regardless of what the police think

Great video. Thank you for doing your research and being thorough.
Thoughtful analysis succinctly presented. Thank you!
The only downside is it is a strike to pierce system but you can tap the pistol on your leg or any hard surface and able to keep one hand free.
it’s worth it, 192 LBS 6’2 man tried to run me off the road on my motorcycle, was followed to a gas station and had to use it (i load like this: first round is normal pepper spray, second is max pepper spray, third is a kinetic, 4 and 5 are kinetic MAX. works great
I like how you load the projectiles, good idea.

What was the outcome
Why do states make it so hard for Law Abiding Citizen to get firearms? Meanwhile ,Criminals get them with no concern about what the law says. California ,New York ,Yall need to wake up.
Excellent presentation 😊
@@MatthewRRaderit really is, short sweet and to the point!
Well, I guess it was not real sweet…lol
Do you REALLY think we don’t have WHATEVER we want???????? You guys kill me!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They don't awake up, they just start moving to red states when things get bad, and then begin voting to change the laws over there into the mess that they just ran away from.
The downside is quick deployment because of the size; it’s close to the size of a full sized service weapon.
you can get an extension so you can use the larger gas cartridges for more power.
Vert good guidance. Thank you for your experienced wisdom.
Will these be affective in the winter when people layer up?
This stuff shoots through car glass I'm sure it hurts like getting shot but non lethal
I was really impressed with this company.
go for the nose
No, testing showed with heavy winter coats the balls bounce off without breaking open.
I have more than a few conceal carry handguns. I just purchased a Byrna LE so I can have a less lethal option. I will carry both.
My town (Chapel Hill, N.C.) has an ordinance against any "gas operated weapon". If you're thinking about getting one of these check your local laws.
I had both of mine shipped to me and I live in California. They are both California compliant.
Are you allowed to conceal and carry it ? I'm in Cali too just wondering
So you got the way under power unit

Great video, thank you. I live in NY and our gun lays are really strict. Was thinking of gettingbone of these for my wife. She has been followed a couple of times in a store and out to her car. Do you think this would be a good option for her? I have talked to local police and the Bryna is legal where we live. Thanks again for your time.
It could be a good option, provided she is willing to carry it. It's quite large.
She would be better off with a fixed blade knife to be honest. If your wife was grabbed god forbid, she would have to try to reach in her purse to get this pepper ball gun, the bad guy would just take her purse. Have her carry a fixed blade knife inside her waistband for easy and quick access
Leave New York. What a horrible state.
Better check & make sure NY/your town doesn't have local law against CO2 pistols, my town ( Chapel Hill, N.C.) has ordinance against them.

Great for RV travel for safety. Some US states and Canada are harder to bring in guns.

Awesome video. Thank you

I’ve been considering this product for my wife & wanted to thank you for this video. Hope you’re doing well Joel.
Did you end up getting it?
Thanks! That's the reasoning I need to justify having this, and in orange.
The umarex hdp 50 is around $110 and shoots at 350 fps or so
I know SF won't allow these things, and CA as a whole aren't allowed to use pepper.
I got one it's great
Regarding security guards: over the past 30 years I've been licensed as an unarmed security guard in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah. The Bryna would still be prohibited by both state regulations and company policies.
Great Overview!
My wife carries a Byrna and has used it twice on crazy homeless guys.
Did jt work? Do its job?
She used it twice, I'm guessing that she's ok

I got a bb gun that takes Co2. Sometimes they leak and have no power to shoot the bbs. Would really suck to have that happen when you need it with this.

I bought mine from Amazon. It’s black. I wanted orange but it washed available. I keep it loaded with pepperballs. I watched a podcast that shows how to load it. This is very important! I’m a retired trucker and federal law prohibits truckers from carrying a firearm. Pepper Balls are illegal in California and New Jersey.
Not a firearm, it's a Launcher.
I tried to order the tear pepper loads here in California and I was told not for sale in the state in California
they have a CA/NY kit you order
California favors the criminal

Are felon's able to legally possess them?
Why are there many felons asking, what kind of felons?

TASER C-2 has a 30-second pulse cycle. The directions for us civilians is activate, then place the C2 on the ground and RUN AWAY--RUN AWAY,
What do you think about the Mace brand pepper spray gun? I always felt it was a good compromise. You have the intuitive, easy to use shape of a pistol; you know where you're aiming and you can use it under stress, and it's like $50!
I thought it was much better than any other pepper spray can, and something you're more likely to use, even when in doubt, is better than a firearm with huge consequences if you mess up and you may not want to pull that out (certainly someone without training makes me nervous.)
Where can I buy one
11:41 I’ve been debating about buying the BL. You’re right…400$. Yikes!
Then, I may as well, buy a firearm
Umarex makes something similar but I don’t know if they offer the pepper balls. Umarex ammo could also be cheaper than what you spoke of on the Bryna.
Byrna chemical rounds are good, but yeah they are a little more expensive than Duke rounds or Salt Pepperballs ammo.
GRIMBURG KINETICS 6 GRAM CS + OC IRRITANT PROJECTILES 68 CALIBER
You could also upgraded both guns to where it's twice or 3 times more powerful .
What do you consider the best option for civilians who can't buy a firearm?
Good point about the color. I thought of black because it's more hidden. I work in the woods and the crazies will be "attracked" to it, I'm sure you know what I mean. The size is a problem, I have a small frame. The possible fail is a real concern without many shots. Of course NY has an issue with the chemicals. Thanks for doing this, much appriciated.
What's the address to purchase one of those? I appreciate it
the thing that cheesed me on the Byrna is that the safety is opposite from the 1911 platform. all that muscle memory in training is now backwards. i can see getting into a situation and putting it on safe and trying to shoot. i emailed the company to learn why they went opposite and got crickets for my trouble.
Interesting
Would u leave it loaded in your car.
Will the air stay strong.
Great video
How about giving us a price list?
I don't sell them.
If you use of the taser it can also cause a heart attack in some cases
Do you need a consile Cary permit??
You should consult your local laws as to what is defined as a weapon, etc and not trust anyone commenting on a video.
this was really good. have you shot it yet? i'm curious if there are 'failures' that can occur as does with firearms such as stove piping, squids, jamming, etc. ?
From what I can tell. These things can fail, but with proper maintenance and training, you can minimize the risk.
Whats the oc/cs??
How would you find out if its legal locally
Google your towns ordinances, put your towns: name/local ordinances.
I had similar experiences with mine, which is why I don't recommend it as a self defense tool; you're better off with mace.
By the NY compliant one
there are loads of other options now. other companies have guns in 43, 50, as well as 68 caliber. and the smaller calibers are smaller guns. other companies make ammo and CO2 cartridges . Byrna also has a cheaper gun. and they also have 7 shot mags now.
Would it be as good for a bear or mountain lion bear spray?
What about the Sage FN303 would that be a good alternative?
Are you in the military or law enforcement? Public cannot buy it.
It might be an option for some people but here in Florida, where I can legally carry concealed, I still resort to my small 9mm in a holster which can be easily carried. I can't conceive of carrying something of that size and try to conceal it under my T shirt.
Thank you for the information. We're Constitutional carry so everyone does. This would be nice to have, too.
