And now they can't really change anything because they lack the money. But even if you'd give them the money they'd only be happy about the money and not change much anyways. Even the voice lines are the same from the very first to the very last game lol. The only reason their games still get played is that modders make the games better.
yea it is weird, the platform has so much potential but they just seem to dick around remaking the lighting or giving it to a developer who spends 6 months making a single new gun. Its such a versatile platform especially with the modular vehicle mechanics too, it could really cover any modern or future warfare setting
To be honest there never was a significant change after Faces of War concerning graphics and SP. For years I only played Soldiers Heroes of WW2 and Faces of War because that's what kept me going with dozens of mods. I never cared about the HD models of the later games because there is literally no point in zooming in that much in a STRATEGY game. They tried to justify the HD textures and stuff with the FPS mode but seriously, where's the point? Just play ArmA if you want close-up action. And yet, the newer games retain the same clunkyness that's existed since Heroes of WW2. I mean, it WAS revolutionary when it came out. But seriously, they should have come up with a new engine years ago.
Faces of War: Brothers in Arms must've been released only in Russia because I remember that mission in base FoW game, I think it was Lublin. Besides I've read somewhere that this one has more storyline missions for Soviets and some of them reappeared in Men of War.

Loved FoW and MoW, never liked Assault Squad althought it's skirmish missions were fun for like the first few times. In the end, I got AS2 for the mods. CtA looks clunky and MoW2:Arena is just strange to me. All of it utilises the same assets and the only thing that I end up growing accustomed to is the new UI per release.
@@aveyablueday I don't mind modern mods like Red Rising or 17th-20th century mods such as BitFA or GWR. Plus mods like RobZ or Valour definitely enhance/fix the world war title. My problem with CtA is that there aren't as many mods for it as there is for AS2. Whilst MoW2:Arena has little information as to whether the editor or singleplayer is available. However, if the engine was significantly better, I'd definitely pick up the full ver of CtA or buy the singleplayer stuff for MoW2:Arena at a reasonable price - I.E under £20 as the newer games offer very little that is new and reuse a majority of their assets.

There's something to be said for taking the same game and with each sequel simply improving upon it. But... they honestly haven't done much like that. Really just the same game, minor tweaks and new graphics and setting. For... 20 years now. It truly needs a step forward. Cold war was pretty bad too. I still love the games though. I prefer the older ones as they're a little simpler. Just like Steel Division 2 and what not, the battle just become too hectic. Too many units, too many chokepoints to watch, too many enemies to keep track of etc.
Men of war Vietnam was sooo weird. Like it was the first official game that takes place in a more modern era, but it was just ahhh. The characters were really unique tho, but the missions were really lame. Not being able to revive your fallen squad mates made the mission very impossible to complete unless you were playing with the cheat mod or map editor.
Plus there wasn't much variety in nations or equipment. It was mainly US and Vietnam, even though 100-200k South Koreans were there, many French, many British, Australian etc. The game just felt too empty.

Used to love that game, still think the core gameplay works super well. The game just never evolved, they just kept releasing the same game with some updated models, yet a lot of the bugs and problems remained. It needs a massive overhaul in terms of polish and feel, then it might become relevant again.
A lot of mods were made to fix the game, however the problem of bugs and other shit still remains. To be fair in hella surprised how diplex heated has so many mods yet his game works perfectly, for me if i get 1 mod my entire game breaks
One thing that drives me crazy in this game is how the tanks shoot at first sights and never aim before, they only aim their second shot, but because of their first shot, they get spotted and shelled by the AT guns nearby or the other tank. The vanilla versions of any MoW have horrible tank gampelay. Tanks should take the time to aim first. Most mods I playd correct this, it trully makes the tank battles more realistic and more tactical.

Man.. I still have soldiers heroes of ww2 in my storage. I love how it employed tons of details of in how to operate things, including weapon and tanks. There are missions where you have mighty tiger but with almost no fuel. Other campaign where you wreak havoc using katyusha on the train is also super fun. With so much controllable stuff, we have so many creative ways to complete the mission. You can play stealthly, doing rambo or even something out of the box

Men of war series is wonderful...I can still remember how much fun when I was playing Soldiers heroes of World War II for the first time as a 7 years old kid...although Soldiers heroes of WWII has been released for more than a decade, I still have it on stream and sometimes play it...it is a game that never gets me bored!

Just FYI if you don't know, have a look at the Mod DB page, they have so many great mods out there, some even in the length of an expansion pack.

Learn how to mod it and AS2 can be made utterly beautiful. I've been modding mine for years, with emphasis on the aesthetics and no icons. It's like Lego and toy army men that I played with as a child. The flexibility of the engine means astonishingly atmospheric aesthetics are possible. I'm just worried that I'll not be able to port my five-year-old AS2 into Gates of Hell, and visa versa. The only thing I cannot replicate from MOW is the screen shake on explosion detonation, otherwise it's perfect.

Totally realistic. Amazing that the tracks don't break randomly whenever the vehicle turns over some rocks, which is something that happens painfully frequently with real tracked vehicles (especially older ones like these)

Здесь вообще смешали кровь с г...м, учитывать стоит несколько факторов, а именно: men of war штурм 1,2, холодную войну делали Digital Mindsoft (немецкая фирма), вьетнам, черные бушлаты 1с software (издатель всей линейки). Soldiers: Heroes of World war II (в тылу врага), faces of war (в тылу врага 2), men of war братья по оружию и лис пустыни, а после арена делается родоначальником серии втв (best way). И после ЛП, нельзя сказать что это эволюция, скорее это закапывание на месте и перевод на сетевую составляющую. Арена это уже что-то новое: новые механики, перенос механик из WoT в стратегическую игру. По сути тот же WoT от мира стратегии, соответственно много заимствований, особенно сильно бросается в глаза управление танком. Каждая деталь интерфейса напоминает об этом.
Wait a minute.... is "Faces of War : Brother in Arms" the same title as "Men of War"? I ask, as i'm big fan of the series, and i heard first time of subtitle of Faces of War.
I think what make this game special is because of it's gaming mechanism. Comparing to the COH, their units (tank, vehicle, infantry) rely completely on HP while MOW only their infantries. MOW can let players set up group from various units, while COH already set up group of units from the game itself (infantry) and individual tanks and vehicles. Also MOW relies on realism aspect where all units could ran out of ammo, medkits, and need repair tools for repairing. Not to mention, it's infantry defense mechanism where they can take cover in objects like trench, bushes, walls, etc. This game is detailed, specific, and immersive RTS imho, i still playing this game until now, especially MOWAS2. I hope the developers create the 3rd one like COH3 that have been release its preview earlier. And of course i hope if they release the new ones, they enhance the graphics and physics. Because i've seen the recent games like call to arms seemed to not so different comparing to the previous games, only differs in units.

Digitalmindsoft the other producer of men of war series released not so long ago Gates of Hell. Its a DLC to their other game Call to Arms. CTA is basically fixed and overhauled version of MOWAS2 Cold War. Cold War was very unstsble and glitchy so they decided to make fixed version. Sound FX for CTA and GOH are new, graphics polished more, simillar to Cold War ones. They use the same engine like Men of War but with better graphics

Arena мультиплеерная ,а серия изначально на одиночное долгое тактичное прохождение,а тут слишком быстро, хотя новый опыт. Купил бы,да пока не тянет

Learn how to mod it and AS2 can be made utterly beautiful. I've been modding mine for years, with emphasis on the aesthetics and no icons. It's like Lego and toy army men that I played with as a child. The flexibility of the engine means astonishingly atmospheric aesthetics are possible. I'm just worried that I'll not be able to port my five-year-old AS2 into Gates of Hell, and visa versa. The only thing I cannot replicate from MOW is the screen shake on explosion detonation, otherwise it's perfect.
Do you have any ideas how to fix the lag at the end of the game? Like it very smooth at first but as game progress, it likes 20 fps on my 2060s

Totally realistic. Amazing that the tracks don't break randomly whenever the vehicle turns over some rocks, which is something that happens painfully frequently with real tracked vehicles (especially older ones like these)

Здесь вообще смешали кровь с г...м, учитывать стоит несколько факторов, а именно: men of war штурм 1,2, холодную войну делали Digital Mindsoft (немецкая фирма), вьетнам, черные бушлаты 1с software (издатель всей линейки). Soldiers: Heroes of World war II (в тылу врага), faces of war (в тылу врага 2), men of war братья по оружию и лис пустыни, а после арена делается родоначальником серии втв (best way). И после ЛП, нельзя сказать что это эволюция, скорее это закапывание на месте и перевод на сетевую составляющую. Арена это уже что-то новое: новые механики, перенос механик из WoT в стратегическую игру. По сути тот же WoT от мира стратегии, соответственно много заимствований, особенно сильно бросается в глаза управление танком. Каждая деталь интерфейса напоминает об этом.

I think what make this game special is because of it's gaming mechanism. Comparing to the COH, their units (tank, vehicle, infantry) rely completely on HP while MOW only their infantries. MOW can let players set up group from various units, while COH already set up group of units from the game itself (infantry) and individual tanks and vehicles. Also MOW relies on realism aspect where all units could ran out of ammo, medkits, and need repair tools for repairing. Not to mention, it's infantry defense mechanism where they can take cover in objects like trench, bushes, walls, etc. This game is detailed, specific, and immersive RTS imho, i still playing this game until now, especially MOWAS2. I hope the developers create the 3rd one like COH3 that have been release its preview earlier. And of course i hope if they release the new ones, they enhance the graphics and physics. Because i've seen the recent games like call to arms seemed to not so different comparing to the previous games, only differs in units.

Love the series. Have like 190 hours on steam on Assault Squad 2 alone. But cold war... Man, was that some bullshit. It's quite possibly the worst thing ever. And I mean ever. Actual WW2 and the plague and the dinosaur extinction event was not as bad as that pile of shit.

Digitalmindsoft the other producer of men of war series released not so long ago Gates of Hell. Its a DLC to their other game Call to Arms. CTA is basically fixed and overhauled version of MOWAS2 Cold War. Cold War was very unstsble and glitchy so they decided to make fixed version.
Sound FX for CTA and GOH are new, graphics polished more, simillar to Cold War ones. They use the same engine like Men of War but with better graphics
