But technology gets more advanced every day, and war is normal in some places, like Somalia, Yemen, Israel (Gaza and West Bank), Ukraine, and many, many more.
One thing I found interesting is that out of all six vanilla factions in battlefield 1, only one (America) is a Republic. Britain, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Austro-Hungary are all at the time Monarchies. Battlefield 1’s dlcs introduced several more factions but those are mostly monarchies too with the only exceptions being France and USSR. It’s crazy to think that merely a century ago most of us were still ruled by Kings and Emperors.
Author forgot about border conflicts, Sino-japanese war, Chinese, German civil war, Soviet-polish, Football war, war on Cyprus, Lybian Civil war - lots of it. But, we haven't shooters about this wars.

Rhodesia is the most popular one amongst the other African conflicts and it seems it gains attentions, many UA-camrs are talking about it. There are more forgotten wars like South African Border War, Portuguese Colonial War, Biafran War, Ogaden War, or Eritrean War of Independence.
That's the most biased and unbalanced mod of them all. The Zimbabwe forces don't even have a sniper rifle and even a regular Rhodesian SMG can one-hit kill an enemy from across the map.

Pretty interesting how few games these days depict conflicts closer to real time, but I guess this makes sense when the memories are still fresh in peoples heads. But like for example, the Gulf War. Only game that comes to mind is Conflict Desert Storm and there hasn't been anything really since.
The new CoD Black Ops this year will be in the Gulf War (and maybe Yugoslav Wars,since the OTAN bombed Sarajevo in 1999) (the Modern Warfare reboot first game is based on the Chechenian Wars in flashback missions in 1999 and 2009 and the War of Terror after 2019)...maybe in 3 years,will be have Black Ops:Korean War...

(the war in Chechnya was primarily separatist and not religious) After 2006, there were no serious clashes and the army’s participation was greatly reduced. I don’t know where 2017 came from and what some kind of “Islamic uprising” has to do with it, when after 2009 there were no hostilities in Chechnya and other republics of the North Caucasus. Only terrorist organizations remained, but they were not capable of starting an armed uprising; at most they carried out terrorist attacks against civilians
I'm spanish and I'd honestly like to see a civil war game (2 campaigns for both sides, being respectful with history and real events), the COD 2 mod was fine but it has many flaws
It was actually fictional, and it's true that some elements and geopolitical seems very inspired from Angolan Civil War. But the location was mostly inspired from Mali because some of the building structures resembles Dogon architecture; the Dogon being indigenous to Mali.

I'm very glad that mods like the Spanish Civil War mod for COD2/WAW, the Korean War, and the Rhodesian Bush War exist. We need more forgotten war mods or games. 7544 was great for Indochina for sure as with plenty of conflicts introduced by Black Ops 2. And I bet the Portuguese Colonial War mod would tie in perfectly with the Rhodesian War mod for BF Vietnam
We need more recent wars, like Russo-Georgian war 1991-1993, 2008, Karabakh conflict 1988-1994, 2016-2023, Transnistria war 1990-1992, Russo-Ukraine war 2014-ongoing, and more.
What about Battlefield 1's In The Name of the Tsar DLC? That expansion had two maps and factions and an Operations Campaign dedicated to the Russian Civil War

What I noticed is that there is no start of WWII in 1935 or 1937 (depending on whether you think Italia or Japan started the war) or that the Great War can’t break its November 11, 1918 lie and realize the war did not end for a few more years (unless you’re the Ottoman Empire then it’s several more years (1923 to be exact)).
BF1 have the Russian Civil War maps that lasts until 1923...and now is in development a Chinese game where you will fight against the Japanese in the Sino-Japanese War...
BF1 Prologue is a masterpiece, shame that the other campaigns are dissapointing. Instead of fighting in large-scale frontline and trench, you're mostly doing some stealth and one man army bullsh*t.
Soviet Afghan war depiction in Bo2 was so bad ngl they put the Bamiyan Budhas in Khost. Khost is mostly Pashtun while the Mujahadeen in the game there speak Iranian Farsi. also i wish they put the Afghan army in the game
Agree with that, also Khost Province has more grass and trees instead of full desert like what they depicted in-game. It's not surprising that CoD Campaigns are not 100% accurate. Even the Pyyrhic Victory mission have so many mistakes such as the absentia of SADF forces, UNITA wears Rhodesian Bushstroke instead of Portuguese Lizard, MPLA/FAPLA charging with machetes and depicted as an underequipped army, and many more. Even thought 80s BO2 Campaign missions are not historically accurate, let's just say those are so fun to play it, lots of chaotic and blockbuster moment, making it one of my favorite game ever. And what makes it so special the missions are taking places in real life conflicts, unlike BOCW where every missions are pure fictional and unfortunately lots of missed opportunity for not doing the same thing with BO2. As in the 80s there are more brutal conflicts that should've been discovered more in BOCW.

The Pacific War, World War 1 and Vietnam War are already underrepresented in video games, but the Spanish Civil War, First Indochina War, Korean War and Second Sino-Japanese War are just straight up non-existent.

What I noticed is that there is no start of WWII in 1935 or 1937 (depending on whether you think Italia or Japan started the war) or that the Great War can’t break its November 11, 1918 lie and realize the war did not end for a few more years (unless you’re the Ottoman Empire then it’s several more years (1923 to be exact)).
BF1 have the Russian Civil War maps that lasts until 1923...and now is in development a Chinese game where you will fight against the Japanese in the Sino-Japanese War...

BF1 Prologue is a masterpiece, shame that the other campaigns are dissapointing. Instead of fighting in large-scale frontline and trench, you're mostly doing some stealth and one man army bullsh*t.

Soviet Afghan war depiction in Bo2 was so bad ngl they put the Bamiyan Budhas in Khost. Khost is mostly Pashtun while the Mujahadeen in the game there speak Iranian Farsi. also i wish they put the Afghan army in the game
Agree with that, also Khost Province has more grass and trees instead of full desert like what they depicted in-game. It's not surprising that CoD Campaigns are not 100% accurate. Even the Pyyrhic Victory mission have so many mistakes such as the absentia of SADF forces, UNITA wears Rhodesian Bushstroke instead of Portuguese Lizard, MPLA/FAPLA charging with machetes and depicted as an underequipped army, and many more.
Even thought 80s BO2 Campaign missions are not historically accurate, let's just say those are so fun to play it, lots of chaotic and blockbuster moment, making it one of my favorite game ever. And what makes it so special the missions are taking places in real life conflicts, unlike BOCW where every missions are pure fictional and unfortunately lots of missed opportunity for not doing the same thing with BO2. As in the 80s there are more brutal conflicts that should've been discovered more in BOCW.
