From a cinematic perspective, I find this video to be visually pleasing and authentic. It is very difficult to capture the entire culture and experience of Auckland, but this film has done so extremely well and I think it needs more recognition. From a homesick Kiwi in a small English home,
+Grayson Leversha Yeah man, I lived 2 years there in NZ. What I learnt from them is that it's actually a culture that boasts their healthy culture, rather than buildings, factories, armies and stuff, like most countries lol... this is shown in this video
❤❤❤❤ beautiful. It's a great city. I love the people here and the beautiful atmosphere. Thanks the video was very good and the soundtrack is very much like relaxing ❤ly
Brilliant Video! I love Auckland but always get disappointed with how our TV shows make it look...whereas THIS video makes it look as it is... vibrant and awesome! Great soundtrack and so well shot and put together, I have watched it several times and keep seeing new little snippets of things that I know and recognise. Great work! Who did you commission to shoot and edit? Fantastic!
WOW, amazing video!! Loved every second of it! The music is amazing, all the shots and things are beautiful! Reminded me why I love Auckland (: Thank you so much!
I am from Uruguay but I already Traveled to New Zealand (auckland and wellington) and I can say than Auckland will EVER be the best city in this planet.
Absolutely beautiful! I'm Venezuelan, and I really want to visit New Zealand, because it's an amazing country, full of beauty pure natural, ancient culture, nice people and stunning cities. Also, the new zealander society it's highly advanced and integrated in terms of acceptance, because it coexist different ethnicities, religions and cultures, making of New Zealand a multicultural, diverse and lovely country. Can't wait to be there, and maybe live someday too :)
One could make the same video for almost any other major city of the world, except some of those cities will also have something genuinely unique to showcase as well..
Hi Alex! A Day in the Life of the BIG little City was made by Smalltown Media - Directed by Rupert McKenzie and DOP Scotty Lee. So glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks! We're all about the central city here at BIG little City but you can check out AucklandNZ (the regional tourism people) for your fix of the rest of the region :)
Hey guys,I'm planning to move to Auckland this July as an international student. Are part time jobs easily available? And what about accommodation?I heard it was very expensive.
sagar singh Hey sir. I'm 19 years old and I'm from Nepal.I am planning to come to Auckland this July as an international student from Nepal.I will be studying diploma in business(2 years course)in Southern Institute of Technology(SIT),Auckland.I have the option of either staying at the accommodation provided by my college or to find my own.So for the first 3 weeks they give me free accommodation so I can decide whether to stay there or search some place new.I just wanted to know sir if part time jobs are available and how expensive rooms are.And if it is a good city to live in.Your informative answer would be highly appreciated sir.Thanyou
respected sir , for u r knowledge i am married to a us citizen of swedish origin we r family of 5 , two daughter and one son . my wife is of european origin so it was very easy for me to settle here and set my own successfull business i m from patna bihar i first went to us then finally to this country . I'm telling u my story so that u can get some idea and do some reality check . now telling u some harsh reality of this country , it is very expensive country the people are not co operative at all they only want ur money because this is very expensive country they only mind their own business .this country is only for rich people ,poor people have no place in this country bitter truth u have to beg on the streets if u r poor. now the cons , new zealand is very beautifull country very few population and very much developed trust me their are no snakes in new zealand or any of the dangerous animals which can kill u very low crime rate . you are from nepal a poor under developed country plz don't waste ur father hard earned money , what do u think of ur self ?? ur only 19 a kid . if u think that by doing diploma in business u will get a decent job and then p.r or citizen ship then I'm sorry u r wrong and totally misguided after ur degree they are going to kick u out this is the bitter truth . just imagine u r not the only one if it was so easy then all the youth of india would have been living in this country not only of india i guess the entire world.
I don't know if it is any more purplish than anywhere else. I think it is probably the camera or just the video. Perhaps it may be because in New Zealand there is a hole in the ozone layer of the atmosphere - this could mean that light has less atmosphere to be refracted off, introducing different wavelengths of light and colour in the sky. I don't know, I don't think it's that different but it may be a reason?
this looks like a Sims trailer especially from 2:10. beautiful video, though. Showing people smiling instead of buildings and armies, Showing like it should be
Auckland is over rated - over populated and far too expensive to live in. The thing is with Auckland EVERYMAN and his dog comes here. Our infrustructure can't cope with so many people here. When people think about, or when they come to New Zealand - they're all like: "I want to live in Auckland!". Roads are constantly being constructed to keep up with the Population demand and by the time that project is finished - we need more roads because more and more people come to Auckland. There are not enough houses for everyone here in Auckland to live in. Rents are far too expensive - Owning your own home is out of reach if you don't come from Money. What ever International readers are told about Auckland - you are being lied to. Sure Auckland is beautiful in the Summer - but that's about it. There's alot more to Auckland that people are not being told about. ● Cost of Living is far too expensive ● Critical housing shortage for people living here ● High cost of Food ● Out of control homelessness ● Rental prices far too expensive ● Cost of buying a home is out of reach unless you have Money.
From a cinematic perspective, I find this video to be visually pleasing and authentic. It is very difficult to capture the entire culture and experience of Auckland, but this film has done so extremely well and I think it needs more recognition.

It was made here at Woodcut, but songwriting and production credits should go to Josh Fountain. Cheers

can you explain why the sky in New Zealand looks more purplish?

Remember they are a day ahead of the rest of the world.

Way to go.. might as well just bite that dude, while you're at it. You surely are a decoration of our society. /sarcasm/
shows people . too fast cuts. doesnt really show the city at all
New Zealand is the best country on earth.
Yikes, I barely even said anything... Auckland's alright... just needs a bit more nightlife.
CA 33

So basically there's a high cost of living. That's the only problem with Auckland
too much cuts.. pretty annoying
worst internet speed in the world
Curtis I Australia is actually worse.
so fake
Seems like a heart-warming city, hopefully I could get accepted in AUT then study and live there :)
