This is why I flip-flop between Pink Floyd and Supertramp, as my all time best band ever. Both groups have amazing musicianship, awesome vocals, deep lyrics and stage presence. PF is more guitar driven, while Tramp is more keyboard driven. Depending on my mood I will dive into either group for hours. 👍🎸😎🇨🇦
One of my favorite Supertramp songs. I love that whole album. And this live concert is excellent. I've seen them live three times. First on the Crime of the Century tour, next on the Even in the Quietest Moments tour and third time was the Breakfast in America tour. They always put on a fantastic show.
I came to know Supertramp when a friend gave me a copy of "Crime of the Century" for my 17th birthday. Where this song comes from. And I was hooked instantly. I got to see them in the late 70s, but not in Paris unfortunately. LOL I sometimes feel like your channel has been curated just for me. 🙂 You have the best subscribers. And nobody does it better. ( I stole that from Carly Simon.)
I started watching your channel a few months ago, and my wife and I really appreciate your insightful reviews. Your Supertramp analysis are really appreciated. I've been a Supertramp fan since the late 70s, and I nicknamed them "the philosopher's band". This song is from Crime of the Century, which is kind of concept album. It would be so cool to see you look at the whole album as a whole, as I know you would pick up the theme pretty quickly.
Thank you! I like that nickname! Would love to check out the whole album. My schedule has been a bit hectic lately, so would need to find the time for it.
I totally get the time constraints. Do the first two songs on the album, School and Bloody Well Right (Hide in Your Shell is the 3rd song), then Asylum. Even if you don't to react to the whole album, try to listen to it on your own. You'll love it.
You need to hear what they did with this in the studio. This album was so well produced it got huge attention. special issues and pressings and was a frequent stereo demo.
I will point out in this live song the drum work from Bob Siebenberg, especially with the cymbals (and there the ride cymbal). This song came from the "Live in Paris" CD/DVD, that is absolutely great.
Great reaction Saeed. I was lucky to see Supertramp live in 1974, on their Crime of the Century tour, in Southampton, England, the first big live show I'd been to, and they were brilliant.
I gotta tell you that, after 45 years (just incredible...) of listening to Supertramp, they still come up with elements of their songs -- mostly their lyrics, I should say -- that previously slipped my attention... These guys are really something else. Thank you, Saeed, for yet another great reaction.
So many great bands from this era. Supertramp was another one of those great bands. "Take The Long Way Home" was one of my favorites by them. What an inspiring and beautiful insight you have with everything you react to. This world needs more people like you. Thank you my dear friend. Much love to you and your family ❤️ 🫂.
Hi Saeed! I have spent countless hours with Supertramp in my life. I love the studio albums, the lyrics so crisp, the piano and sax so emotional. I recommend you take time if you have it to listen to the studio version. But watch out... all the songs across the albums are this good, and you'll never go back!
First time on your channel, Saeed, and I'm sure it won't be the last! Nice, thoughtful, respectful reaction to this wonderful song that Roger Hodgson wrote when he was 23! This one is from the album "Crime of the Century" which was not the band's first album, but it was the one that really propelled them towards stardom! There are only seven songs on the LP, but each is excellent and if you intend to react to this band those other six songs would be an excellent place to start! Peace!!
omg Saeed, you have a blast day, so many songs I love including this one from the Crime of the Century album. The second keyboard sounds like a Farfisa organ. the nice flutelike sound.
Saeed, I liked you very much but, right now, I love you. I know it's not because of me, because I'm a subscriber but I don' do donations. But, I've requested before, reacts to all Supertramp songs, but I told you that this one and Fools Overture are my favourites. I'm so happy, I fill a kid with a lollypop. Thank you very much. Big hugs and kisses. Ana
@@timithiusBut, for me, he can react to all Supertramp songs. They are all amazing. I grew up listening to this band. Than, I forgot. But now in my 50's I realize I can listen to 20 songs by them followed, with my eyes closed, and I don't know why, but I Know all the lyrics. Kiss from Portugal. Ana

If I'm not mistaken, this clip is from Supertramp in Paris. It's a really great show. If you have the time and inclination find it in the UA-cam search Supertramp in Paris '76, '77? (not as a reaction, just for your enjoyment)
Yes hello it's me again Carl super tramp GarnettI had an option to sleep or trap back in 75 that I had it on for 2 days straightCould not stand it told or shut it offThen it kicked inI'd been listening to it ever since for decadesYour song's kind of get you through lifeKentucky rain😂😂😂😂
Anne and Nancy Wilson from Heart and sometimes Chris de Burgh would at times do the "so what's he gonna do" part. I also heard that a few Fleetwood Mac m,embers would come in and do it as well but I don't know for sure if that's true.
Interesting discussion about being cool and hiding in the lyrics and music. That theme reminds me of 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" by Genesis. I think you would get the message.
@@SaeedReacts. Since you are into lyrics you may love Genesis. They often use the music to dramatize the lyrics, especially in the '70s. Their concepts are pretty heady, but even ignoring the lyrics there is plenty to enjoy in the music. The 'Nursery Cryme' album is bizarre but also humorous. 'Trick of the Tail' and 'Wind and Wuthering' have great story lines. Later 'Mama', 'Tonight, Tonight, Tonight' and many others have interesting lyrics. Such a deep hole to explore.
I know it's too long for a reaction video, but you should watch Fool's Overture from the same concert for yourself. This is the song where Supertramp meets Pink Floyd, musically a step up from Hide In Your Shell, with Big Ben and Churchill's speech to the nation, and quite a “star line-up” on stage at the end ua-cam.com/video/NQa6sDqV-_Y/v-deo.htmlsi=gmK6NTT4w5IuDAYu
The deserter that is Rodger Hudson butchered the vocals in this live version. Rick Davis in the main keyboard is actually the main Supertramp member and founder. RH joined the band later, helped the popularity, then decided to leave while the band was at it peaks. Taking with him most of the royalty rights. Hard to find genuine live versions of Supertramp as a whole. Try the studio versions of these awesome tracks. Child of vision. The crime of the century. Take the long way home. Dreamer. School...etc...
Supertramp always comes with the lyrics! No matter how old this song is, it has so much meaning. Thanks for all the reactions, much appreciated.
Love that! ST has so many deep lyrics...❤
From my Fav Supertramp Album Crime of the Century - been listening to it since I was a young teen in 1975
Crime of the Century is easily Supertramp's best album, all of its songs are excellent.
@@williamdemerchant7295 ALL...I think this song suffers a little from lack of the polish of the studio version...still good though
It was one of my 1st 8-tracks when I put the player in my first car.
( a Plymouth Cricket )

Agreed about crime of the century being their best album!
@@patrickwilder6492 Yeah I had the Craig 8-track in My 1968 Falcon Sportscoupe

SUPERTRAMP - Rudy (1974 BBC: Old Grey Whistle Test)
The album versions are always better sonically. Great song
The studio version even uses a saw to create a warble effect. The remastered versions sound great.
