Every Supertramp song is always a gift with many interesting musical choices and superb music and vocal arrangements.. Thanks for watching! 🥰
Supertramp songs are always whimsical, wise. I've yet to find a Supertramp song that hasn't moved me in some way. Big reason why they sit in my top five favourite bands of all time.
Bingo! Hit the nail on the head with your words. Like I said, every song a gift, every reaction I do to them a gift...Thanks for tuning in!
Yup, that's where they sit for me too! Maybe top three.
this is one of my all-time favorite albums, and i absolutely love this song.
Hi there. Awesome to hear. Man, these geniuses never miss....thanks so much for watching!
For me, the entire album Crime of the Century follows Rudy in his life and search of himself. One of the best album in the top 25 pool..... where there is no order just great albums
Hi! No arguments there. But I know I will love all of ST's albums in the end as well...Thanks
Interesting take!
Excellent, Brandon - my favorite album, I thought you had heard the whole thing before. I look forward to the others. I know you’re really into Genesis, Yes, Rush, etc, probably as much as I enjoy Supertramp.
For a cool Supertramp song that has a bit of a different sound, check out “Cannonball”!
No, I kind of skipped around in my ST journey. Just 2 more left to complete this album. I adore this band and they are a serious contender for a more regular slot on my channel once Pink Floyd Fridays ends. Added your vote for Cannonball, thanks my friend...
Roger Hodgson had a knack for expressing angst. Musically, well crafted, as per usual with Supertramp, musicianship/production(yes a saw, a harmonium too)are off the charts, very theatrical too.
The live version from Paris is a must, Roger really sang his butt off. Roger has live versions as a solo artist that are worth a listen( one with an orchestra). The song has an extra energy live
Hide In Your Shell, one of eight masterpiece songs from Supertramp's masterpiece album of masterpiece albums, Crime Of The Century
Angst- there's the word! Thanks for the info. This song with orchestra? 😇😇😇
Hi Brandon. Glad you came back to Supertramp. The whole album "Cryme of the Century" got such a special sound, treatment, creativity, you can't simply go wrong listening to it a first time then over and over. This song from Roger is another gem from his repertoire, the wurlitzer piano combined to his unique emotional voice makes probably the core of it, then the progression and the orchestral as backing vocals arrangement is finally so wise and so "logical" to the coda. It's unique in many ways. You had to come here, Brandon, it is essential art and music for the world - you can feel the peace!
Hello! Yes, I love this band so much! Great description of the song. I think it will only grow on me. Many special feelings from this band for sure, just like Yes, Genesis, Floyd, etc..
I love this album!!! Crime Of The Century. I had no idea what kind of music this was going to be and when I saw the album cover, I was intrigued. When I put the needle to the vinyl, they stole my heart!!!! It was several weeks later and I recognized one of the songs from this album being played on radio: Bloody Well Right - I was so happy!!!!
Hi R! Wish I could have seen your expression the first time you heard this album! So cool that you discovered them early on.....
Fantastic band! Lots of great music 🎶❤️
Yes! Another serious contender for a more frequent slot on the channel! Thanks for watching...
A great song on my favorite album from them. That album is almost perfection, although most people like Breakfast in America better, but Crime of the Century is a masterpiece.
Agree! Crime a special album for sure. I wonder what their earlier work sounds like...
@@retroreactions.... Not sure about the earlier LP's, as no one has ever suggested I listen to them, but Crisis? What Crisis? and Even In The Quietest Moments are also outstanding - just a half step below Crime imo.
Great song. One of my favorite albums by them. Thanks!
Hi Larry. Agree with you 100%. "School" is now one of my all time favorite Supertramp songs! Thanks for watching and for being first today 🥇
One of the gems of this marvelous album.
Great Supertramp song! I haven’t listened to it in awhile, but it’s really timeless. I didn’t realize you were this close to finishing the album. I second the recommendation for “Cannonball”….it’s another great song from Brother Where You Bound!! 😊
Yes, but tons more ST to go of course. Added another vote for Cannonball! You should like tomorrow's artist 😁
Probably my favourite Supertramp song. The background to my high school life in the 70s, this album was spun endlessly and I wore the cassette tape out. As an awkward, wallflower teen this was a song of healing and hope. But we can lose track of the great songs of our youth as adulthood sets in and ‘the new music’ replaces it. Forty years on, I recently rediscovered this song in a big way. I was seeking some musical therapy with a message of hope & support for someone dear to me. This song jumped out and hit me in the heart - “remember me” it said. “I’m the song”. And then within days, you post it. I have chills. Thanks Brandon.
Always different, they're very close to my favourites. Unusual ending when the accompaniment comes back in and the 'walking away' sax drifting into the distance. Still pleading for Spock's Beard... 'The Light' was a debut album 1995 'The Water' (side two) is an excellent suite although about 25mins. You checked out a Strawbs medley... The 'Ghosts' album medley I think is better, and there are several others of real progressive quality on there waiting for you. You'll be surprised... I was amazed!
One day I'm sure...What's your very top song from them again?
Brandon... without hesitation, Strawbs 'Life Auction' off the Ghosts album! Same year as Bohemian Rhapsody but years ahead of its time. 'Ghosts medley' would also be a good one for the site but more straightforward. Asking to pick one from 'Spocks' is a low blow. So many different genres you can't discriminate. For your own consumption, set aside some of your valuable time and 'watch' the complete 'Snow live' on YT or the 'Water' suite off 'The Light' (1995) that I mentioned. Some surprises in there!
I had this album. Such great production….so creative and top-tier musicianship. They sure had their own unique sound….
Hello. Yes, every song I've heard from them is a musical treasure for me. I suspect I will say that even to some or most of their 80s work no doubt, if Brother Where You Bound is any indication!
Richard Davies and Roger Hodgson, not only musicians of the highest caliber, but lyricists of exceptional intelligence. To take just three examples, the lyrics of "Hide In Your Shell", "Even In The Quietest Moments" and "Fool's Overture" are heartbreaking, upsetting, disturbing... and the voices, the music (and this plaintive intervention from the sax, as with PINK FLOYD) which are not there to console us but, on the contrary, to strangle our throats, to capsize our hearts even more. SUPERTRAMP, magnificently touching! Thank you.
I feel like many Prog "snobs" don't include Supertramp in the pantheon of great progressive bands. While I'd place them a notch below ELP, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, and King Crimson, their best is as good as anything from those bands.
This is my least favorite song from side one of Crime of the Century, but that isn't because it is bad, just that the songs surrounding it are amazing.
Thanks for the listen.
Hello. Glad you love them and like this song. Truly unique and special artists with their own unique identity in rock. Thanks for tuning in!
For me this is one of Supertramps best, so well structured, great lyrics and musicianship backed by the most amazing production. Sheer brilliance.
Supertramp is just so beautiful. There is just no other band that sounded like these guys. Music i will never forget. Music i can always go back to.
Hey Brandon! Excellent song from a masterpiece album! Turn it up and enjoy!!🔈🔉🔊😎
Hi Jeff! You're telling me! Just love them, their talent and their unique sound so much! Always enjoy the amazing Supertramp 🙂
@@retroreactions.... Crime is my favorite Supertramp album. I ALWAYS listen to it in its entirety!🔈🔉🔊👍😎
I'll have to do the same once I've heard the final 2 songs...
@@retroreactions.... Masterpiece!!😎
Always like me some amazing sax.
Ditto. And John an amazing player!
I LOVE this song, Paris live double album version is perfect as the rest of that magnificent album.
The day you delve into Roger's solo discography, you will discover the most beautiful romantic and atmospheric ballads you have ever heard in your life, and "Lovers in the Wind" reaches absolute perfection in those items that I mentioned above.
Do I smell a full Paris album reaction in my future?? Glad you love this one too. It was between this and Gone Hollywood...
Oh, how I'm easily swayed.....soooo many artists to get to still, including all the solos- Phil C, Tony B, Mike R, Roger H, Anthony P, Steve H, David G, etc etc.....
@@retroreactions.... etc, etc means Vangelis, Santana, Bob Marley, Sting, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury, want more ? hahaha
@@retroreactions.... Gone Hollywood ? is just a song... do you mean Breakfast in America full album reaction ? you already reacted to 2 songs from that album.
Totally excellent Song.
Supertramp are often overlooked.
Keep Rockin' 🎸

Cool song by a cool band.
Yes!! Happy ummm Monday! I never know these days haha.....😄
🙂Keep up the great work!!
🎶🎶
Thanks. We should be getting a visit from a little friend here on Wednesday! ❄🌨⛄🏔
Interesting.... ⛄😃
Great reaction and such a fabulous track and a great band. These guys were so good. Have you checked out Brother where you bound album yet when Roger left. It’s probably their best album of all. Take care Brandon. All the best. Dave✅✅
Spot-on about the call-and-response. In my mind that's a trademark for them. You hear that more in Supertramp than any other band in my experience. Sometimes they are actually asking questions and answering them, such as in "Child of Vision" and "Just a Normal Day". This would be my favorite band if not for the Beatles. It was my favorite in high school, and it was my daughter's favorite band (she's 25 years younger than me) when she was in high school (I raised her right). They're just so frippin' good, even in their quietest moments.
Yes, c-and-r is a unique feature for sure, and then when they sing together it's heaven, like on Goodbye Stranger! Hopefully I can find a way to have them on the channel on a more regular basis. Tough though with other bands in contention, like Yes, Alan Parsons Project, Steely Dan, ELP, Rush....Thanks!
Monumental band! One of the pillars of prog rock.
One of my favs of the album. Excellent album. Did you notice the theremin? I noticed you probably did (the saw)
Yup!
I didn't like Breakfast in America but loved Crime of the Century, Crisis What Crises, and Even in the Quietist Moments
The _"Ghost Whistle"_ was a saw?! Wow, really?! Sounded like a Theremin to me. ;-]
Someone here confirmed that it was a saw. Cool creative stuff here! Thanks
This album is so beautiful. I was in high school when this album came out and this brings me so many beautiful memories. Thank you for your reaction ❤
Such a strong musically rich album! Glad I could help bring back some of those special memories. You're welcome and thank you as well! 😊
Brandon i have a quick question. Do you ever watch a live performance of a band and then give your reaction? 😎
Do you mean am I open to reacting to live performances? For sure, I've done several lives, some audio only and some audio and video. Is that what you meant?
@@retroreactions.... Yes. I would like to make a request. Southside of the Sky from the 35th Anniversary dvd of YES. Trust me, you will love it and it will blow your mind!!!👍😎
I can add to list, but is that a live performance?
@@retroreactions.... YES, yes it is. Other reactors have done it for me. I really want to hear your thoughts and reactions!😎
OK, going on the list, but a reminder that my list has close to 4,000 songs on it. You can imagine how hard it is choosing the lineup every week! 😮🙂
I bet this would be popular today (although be too long short attention spans) but the sound has a very modern feel to me…….Anybody else think that?
I can see that. So much of their music is timeless and the fact that so many reactors under 30 love their music is a testament to their unique artistry...
Brandon, THANK YOU! You have now tapped into NEARLY all my 3 hidden gems, I did not think many appreciated! So you tapped into TALK TALK and Now Supertramp (in a league of their own) who are so special to me... The third part of my special trio is The Alan Parson's Project. I think (actually sure) you will love them.... maybe consider reviewing "Don't Answer me", "Old and wise" "Let's Talk about Me" xx
You know great music when the lyrics come flooding back.
Your Music Mirrors Your Mind
Song suggestion: Hai Hai
Band/Artist: Roger Hodgson
Album: Hai Hai
A solo album well worth the listen
Great Great song... that one and fools Overture off Paris album.
Love this song
This song resonated with me very strongly in the 70s during my angsty teenage years. Great reaction and review.
My favourite Supertramp song.
