Broad question if I may. Can Digikam function as a full blown photo editor (on Windows in my case) more so if used in tandem with, say, GIMP. It seems to have a lot of serious editing features but, for some reason, no one seems to be talking about it in that light. What am I missing here.
It can function as a full editor. However, due to its destructive editing model, it's not as flexible as non-destructive raw editors, such as darktable or RawTherapee.
When you first open a raw image, you should be presented with the Raw Import window. This happens at 0:24 in the above video. From Raw Import, you can set the WB. Once you've set the WB, select the Import button at the bottom of the panel, and the image is then imported. Once imported, you should have access to both the Color Balance and White Balance in the Tools panel, under the Effects section. I've just tested in 7.2.0 and confirmed that they are still there.
@@robshea hi again. Once i imported a few images to digikam album and double click on a raw image, raw import window didn't show up. May be I shouldn't have imported a group of images?? I am sending a short video
@@hoomanrabizadeh3875 What is the file format of the images? Are they in a raw format or JPG? If you are shooting in JPG, you will not see the Raw import option and will only be able to use the White Balance and Color Balance under the Tools menu.
@@robshea the format is cr2(raw for canon). However, i even tried a jpg image but there was neither white balance nor color balance in tool menu! I must be doing something wrong. I will figure it out somehow and won't bother you anymore. Thanks for your time. By the way, your tutorials are awesome cause you speak calm and explain every details.👌👌👌
