The second album is also good. I don't know when it originally came out but with MTV it got a revival with the videos. Lesser known songs: out of the frying pan and into the fire and good girls go to heaven and bad girl go everywhere
Hands Down THE Meatloaf album..snd the first song of the album..is this masterpiece. Meatloaf singing and Jim Steinman producing. RIP to both..making more beautiful music up in the ⛅
If you enjoy his storytelling you should try Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are. It causes me to take a trip down memory lane every time. I love your reactions, and keep them coming
I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.
Every song is a performance. One story, one song. He was a true professional. Greatly missed and appreciated. One of a kind and part of the soundtrack to my life.
I like your reviews. No BS, just honest emotions ✌️ The original studio version of “For Crying Out Loud” is (in my opinion) Meat’s best song. Please react. Thanks 🙏🏻
Fun fact Clive Dsvis psssed on signing Meatloaf cause of his look he never thought they would amount to anything. He said he regretted it😅Much love from Canada❤🇨🇦
Perfect pairing here. Meatloaf and Jim Steinman! Pure brilliance. I'm deeply saddened by the passing of such an icon! Thank you for reacting to an incredibly talented singer and actor.
I'm so here for these. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Loaf live twice and nothing will ever compare. Steinman is a musical genius and Meat is his best instrument.
This was the 1st album I purchased when I was 12.. I had to buy it on a cassette tape for the car (actually I had to buy a few cassette's - they would break or wear out) then on a CD, then as a download for MP3. This was driving with the top down, dancing like maniacs with the girls at sleepovers, school dances, sunbathing on the deck... this is basically the album that played in the background of my life. RIP Meatloaf, you were, are, and always will be a legend. I'm not even mad I paid for the same music at least 6 times...lol.
Well said! I was always a fan, but damn, when he passed - it shook me. All the good memories with his music as the soundtrack had me smiling, laughing, and crying. There will only be 1! (and thank god he and Jim Steinman and Ellen Foley found each other. Could you imagine a world without them?)
Bat Out of Hell is an expression to getting away fast. The song is based on his friend who died in a motorcycle accident and his chest was exposed. The last thing he see is heart still beating and flying away like a bat out of he'll. If you notice in the video it's a motorcycle riding through a cemetery. He called it the best motorcycle song ever.
Rock N Roll Dreams Come Through, Life is a Lemon, did I say that?, why isn’t that enough?, I’d Lie For You, it’s all coming back to me now. There are so many songs of his.
He stated “For Crying Out Loud” is THE greatest love song of all time. Worth a listen. Jim Steinman was a fantastic songwriter. He said everything he wrote was basically a retelling of Peter Pan in various scenes/ways
Jim Steinman had a gift for bringing out the best in Meatloaf's strongest performances and it's wild to think pretty much every song Jimmy wrote for him described a dysfunctionally twisted love story - in this case, if you break down the lyrics, this song is legitimately about a guy who only visits his girl to sleep with her at night only bail out before she wakes in the morning, like a serial one-night-stander...only to wind up dying in an accident with his motorcycle after leaving one morning. Jimmy's work is littered with stuff like this and Meatloaf always brought it to life as though he was currently living it. And while Jimmy absolutely wrote hits for other artists - Air Supply's "Making Love (Out of Nothing At All"), Bonnie Tylers "Holding Out For a hero" and "Total Eclipse Of the Heart" and even Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" - I feel as though Meatloaf was 100% his most persistent muse for creating incredible dramatic songs of just totally twisted and broken love.
Glad you’re enjoying ML’s work, as it makes an old fan really happy. 💗 Greatest love song ever written imho was by Jim Stienman for Meat Loaf “Crying Out Loud”. You should check it out, it’s on the Bat Out Hell album also. xo
I love you doing these. I was born in the late 80s and grew up to my mom playing these on repeat. I was also lucky to see him live in high school. Being a bit of a theater need I adore Jim Steinmans storytelling and the life the meat loaf infused into it
Paradise by the dashboard lights is so good! I think people either grew up on this or have no idea it exists, from what i can tell, so good to see it appreciated for the first time again
**Sings and dances ....Ohhh, you took the words right outta my mouth...Musta been while you were kissin me. Ohhh I swear it's truuuee...I was just about to say --- I looove you. I said you took the words right outta my mouth....👄 Pretty sure I suggested this a few days ago, I think. If not, sure as Hell , like a bat outta Hell LOL...should have!
There are just NO words to say.... He was so Special, so unique! Like Bowie and Prince - there will NEVER be others like them. Only ones hoping and trying to brush their Greatness with a barley known or acknowledged fingertip. Then blown into oblivion by their sweeping breeze as they Walk On! 🌪🌬
Another killer analysis of the lyrics of meatloaf! II am just loving your reaction videos to meatloaf and how you said it’s opened up a new world of music to you (I’m paraphrasing but something along those lines)! I’ve been listening to these songs since I was a teen now I’m 48 . I’m all about the lyrics and I never ever took it as a bat like you’re saying! . Bad out of hell was such a common phrase back then I always thought he just wanted to get out of there like a bat out of hell when the morning came but your analysis has me looking at this in a whole new light!! I can’t wait to listen to it again to put it in that different perspective! Brilliant analysis! Keep the Meatloaf videos coming! Thank you!
Meatloaf was the performer. The songs were written, composed and arranged by Jim Steinman. His best song however is "Total Eclipse of the Heart", sung by Bonnie Tyler.
Bat Out of Hell is the 1977 debut album by American rock singer Meat Loaf and composer Jim Steinman. It is one of the best-selling albums of all time.[3] The album was developed from a musical, Neverland, a futuristic rock version of Peter Pan, which Steinman wrote for a workshop in 1974. It was recorded during 1975-1976 at various studios, including Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, New York, produced by Todd Rundgren, and released in October 1977 by Cleveland International/Epic Records. Bat Out of Hell spawned two Meat Loaf sequel albums: Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose. The first song ever written for the Bat Out of Hell album was HEAVEN CAN WAIT. Bat Out of Hell has sold over 43 million copies worldwide. It is certified 14x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A little trivia... back in the 1970s, there was a model named Bebe (pronounced 'Bee-Bee') Buell who had an 8-month relationship with Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. They ended the relationship and she was with Todd Rundgren by the time she found out she was pregnant. The child was Liv Tyler, but up until Liv Tyler was 14, she thought Todd Rundgren (who produced Bat Out Of Hell) was her dad. Then she started noticing physical similarities between her and Steven and asked her mom about it, Bebe finally confessed the truth.
I still remember when I first heard this song. I was 10yrs old in 79 visiting my Aunties some 500kms from home. My cousin had left home and left some cassettes next to his old player. I was drawn straight to BOOH and BOOM my first ever eargasm. lol
Try his and Marion Ravens version of its all coming back to me now.. Yes that one that Celine Dion did. Jim Steinman wrote it so that's how Meat was able to turn it into a duet. Recomend you watch the video for that one.
Still one of my favorite nostalgic songs 🖤 He was such an absolute legend. Thank you for reacting to him 🖤 -For Crying Out Loud -All Revved Up and No Place to Go (I think your dad would approve lol) 🖤
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is probably Meat Loaf's most famous or most popular song, but this one, like your dad, has always been my personal favorite. Meat Loaf's lyricist, Jim Steinman, wrote all of these. He also wrote some bombastic 80's tunes like Bonnie Tyler's, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (with the crazypants of all crazypants 80's videos) and Air Supply's "Making Love Out of Nothing at All". If you want to see Meat Loaf let it all hang out you should give "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" a watch (preferably with a bunch of friends or at a midnight showing somewhere). He plays Eddie, an ex-delivery boy, in it.
meatloaf was in the rocky horror picture show as well before he did the Bat out of hell album... He's also an actor and father of rock opera. I put him in the same league as Queen. Two out of three aint bad is another really good one.
Mate I grew up on this. I am always amazed when I see Americans just finding bands like Cold Chisel but for an American to not be aware of this classic album (the whole album) amazes me. No I take that back, what it does do is remind me of my age. 🤣🤣 Appreciate the stroll down memory lane.
"What No, You can't stop here this is bat country" -hst. My favorite is him as Eddie in Rocky Horror Picture Show. "Eddie's Teddy" or him in Tenacious D with Dio. "Kickapoo"
Jim Steinman..incomparable lyricist and composer. His piano playing is filled with such sensibility to the story line. He and Meat were a stellar team. Double loss for us.
Watch some of "MEATLOAF'S" iconic "concerts!" If you like even some of his songs. You have to watch as his concerts. They are HUGE and they are all standing on their feat!!
Jim Steinman wrote these songs. When he was a kid he loved songs that were about car crashes . This was his attempt at writing the ultimate car crash song
This isn't a Meatloaf song but from the moment you said you are a words guy that you love lyrics I instantly thought of this song by Guy Sebastion, Battle Scars acoustic version live home front. Guy is amazing when it comes to lyrics and writes his own song's.
MeatLoaf's vocal register is unique with 2 octaves 3 1/2 notes (A2 to Eb5) in the vibrato that made him one in a million #MeatLoaf was, is and will be a special and wonderful human being, a legend... Listen to live concerts of his songs from the opera genre rock and the performances on their cd's for hours and that time doesn't pass, only #MeatLoaf can do it...
The entire Bat out of Hell album was a concept album. It's the story of a man reflecting on his life. Listen to the whole album, start to finish. It is truly a masterpiece.
The whole album is fire 🔥🔥, not a single miss.
No rapper will anytime be able to create such a piece of art.
Bat out of Hell still holds the record for the largest album sales in Australia, 45 years later....
#7 on wikipedia-list of best-selling albums of all times.
More Mr Loaf that was most interesting
RIP Meatloaf and Jim Steinman... you created a music genre
RIP to both..making more beautiful music up in the ⛅
Written (lyrics) by Jim Steinman , produced by legendary Todd Rundgren who also does the motorcycle sound on guitar.
i just found your meatloaf catalog. you rock
If you enjoy his storytelling you should try Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are. It causes me to take a trip down memory lane every time. I love your reactions, and keep them coming
Just a warning, grab the tissues.
It's criminal that only a hand full of reactors have seen/listened to it. By far one of the most underrated songs of his career.
This one is my favorite of his.
Yes! Please, Not enough Reactors check this one out.
Yeah, I think this a good choice, Its one of my favorites. Meat took it to a whole new level with his voice.
MeatLoaf was an absolute beast.
The intensity, power and energy.. No one else has all of that.
I feel as if a part of my youth died with the passing of this wonderful entertainer and genuine human being. Marvin Lee Aday (Michael) AKA Meatloaf your musical performances will live on! Thanks for the decades of memories.
His death and the deaths of Andy, Maurice and Robin Gibb All tore me up.

I'm so here for these. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Loaf live twice and nothing will ever compare. Steinman is a musical genius and Meat is his best instrument.
Meatloaf's ALL REVVED UP
This was the 1st album I purchased when I was 12.. I had to buy it on a cassette tape for the car (actually I had to buy a few cassette's - they would break or wear out) then on a CD, then as a download for MP3. 'Two out of three ain't bad' has great lyrics, 'Heaven Can Wait' is beautiful 'You took the words right out of my mouth'. I'll stop there lol
... and let us not forget the genius of Jim Steinman (RIP) who penned these great classics!!! 🏍
Bat Out of Hell is an expression to getting away fast. The song is based on his friend who died in a motorcycle accident and his chest was exposed. The last thing he see is heart still beating and flying away like a bat out of he'll. If you notice in the video it's a motorcycle riding through a cemetery. It's a crime The Loaf isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Whaaaat??!
Rock N Roll Dreams Come Through, Life is a Lemon, did I say that?, why isn’t that enough?, I’d Lie For You, it’s all coming back to me now.
There are so many songs of his.

Thank you for this video. Meatloaf is one of my all time favorites.
Some of my favorites are It's all coming back to me now, Life is a Lemon, Objects in the rear view mirror.
Thank you for everything you do! Two Out of Three from this album is good!!!!!
and yes Paradise By the Dashboard Lights
You should have seen him live in concert. Totally amazing, and the energy was just over the top.
I was a baby I believe

Got the privilege to see meatloaf in concert Boston Ma. 1978. Simply amazing Simply amazing
Much like Johnny Cash, Meatloaf tells stories in his music. It's really amazing.
one of my favs is "a kiss is a terrible thing to waste" ... you should check it out, too.
That’s what you call Opera! I love all types of music but Opera is connected to the soul :)
He put so much energy into each song, he must have been exhausted after every performance.
Glad you’re enjoying ML’s work, as it makes an old fan really happy. 💗 Greatest love song ever written imho was by Jim Stienman for Meat Loaf “Crying Out Loud”. You should check it out, it’s on the Bat Out Hell album also. xo
I was lucky to see Meat Loaf perform in a small theater and their performance and energy were exactly that. I was amazed.
Credit needs to be given to Jim Steinman for his lyrics and musical arrangements. He and Meatloaf made this magic together.
Every song written by Jim Steinman and sung by Meatloaf is an event, so very, very good.
I love you doing these. I was born in the late 80s and grew up to my mom playing these on repeat. I was also lucky to see him live in high school. Being a bit of a theater need I adore Jim Steinmans storytelling and the life the meat loaf infused into it
The whole of Bat out of Hell is glorious. I would think you might like Heaven can wait and For crying out loud, absolute power ballads.
We lost one of the greats!!! Great singer and showman!!! RIP Meat!!!
This is still one of my favorite songs!

I was 15 when "Bat out of hell" was released, Meat Loaf's death felt like a close friend.
He would collapse after the concert for going all out and put everything he had into each show
There are just NO words to say....
He was so Special, so unique! Like Bowie and Prince - there will NEVER be others like them. Only ones hoping and trying to brush their Greatness with a barley known or acknowledged fingertip. Then blown into oblivion by their sweeping breeze as they Walk On! 🌪🌬

Meatliaf will never die
Jim Steinman was a brilliant song writer and Meatloaf a showman. Saw the Bat out of Hell Tour and comeback. His shows were theatre not gigs
He was a great singer and there will never be another like him
I still remember when I first heard this song. I was 10yrs old in 79 visiting my Aunties some 500kms from home. My cousin had left home and left some cassettes next to his old player. I was drawn straight to BOOH and BOOM my first ever eargasm. lol
In this video-version, they cut away the wonderful intro. Listen to it on the album.
Best song ever.
Legendary singer + Legendary song Writer, Jim Steinman = Legendary Music. simple formula.
Try his and Marion Ravens version of its all coming back to me now.. Yes that one that Celine Dion did. Jim Steinman wrote it so that's how Meat was able to turn it into a duet. Recomend you watch the video for that one.
Paradise by the dashboard lights is my fav
The lyrics of that song are brilliant. Just like the rest. Bat out of hell is a masterpiece. My favorite of the album behind For Crying Out Loud.

I always loved the bat/vampire imagery in this.
He was magnificent such power.
Also, those motorcycle sounds were made by the guitar 🔥
meatloaf was in the rocky horror picture show as well before he did the Bat out of hell album... He's also an actor and father of rock opera. I put him in the same league as Queen. Two out of three aint bad is another really good one.

Great song. All the bike sounds were done on a guitar.

This isn't a Meatloaf song but from the moment you said you are a words guy that you love lyrics I instantly thought of this song by Guy Sebastion, Battle Scars acoustic version live home front. Guy is amazing when it comes to lyrics and writes his own song's.
MeatLoaf's vocal register is unique with

He has a natural heroic tenor voice, operatic.
