After my parents, Bob Backlund was my childhood hero!! He's the reason why I started working out in 1980. I just worked out including cardio, about an hour ago. I'm 50 years old, am 5'9" still weigh 265lbs. have 18" arms, 50" chest, 25" quads. I ride my stationary bike, hit the bag, lift lighter weights and use a bowflex. I've never stopped working out, not in 39 years. I'll probably never stop!! Bob is a testament to what happens and what you can do, if you love your workout, and never give up. And I watched him do this for an hour on a WWF saturday wrestling program around 35 years ago!!! I'm not kidding!!

Regardless of how simple this design is, sometimes that's what you NEED. Sometimes you just need something simple you can take to the office or just in the corner and use it. And the funniest thing is, Bob kept this for years and never had any plans of his own to sell this. OTHER PEOPLE told him he should try to sell it, because of how FIT he is at this age.
But if you want, you can grab a 20 page book of exercises with some big equipment and work on that. That works too. but sometimes, it's a bit MUCH. I can definitely say, this would be an ideal BEGINNER workout (Though it's obvious as advanced as Bob is in fitness, it's still what he uses alot). Skinny boys, fat boys, older types that want to be fit again...this would at the VERY LEAST be the good beginning. starting point. Simple, easy, not overwhelming.
Personally, I'd grab that thing and take it to work with me. Remind myself to use it during my lunch break real quick. Just knock out the Steps, Ab Wheel and some elevated push-ups. GOTTA believe it would also work for Piston Squats, elevated crunches and dips too. Just grab it and GO WITH IT, guys.

Bob didn't get a rematch because he left the company. Bob's wrestling persona had become stale. Vince wanted Bob to become a heel and eventually drop the title to Hogan at the first WrestleMania. Bob wouldn't job to Hogan or turn heel; so he made Sheik a transitional champion and booked a screwjob ending where Backlund's manager threw in the towel costing Backlund the Title. The rest is history.

It’s a shame that the gym in a box has long been out of production. I would love to purchase one, but it’s long gone now.
I wouldn’t even know where to look to track down a used one
If by some chance that Bob or any of his reps see this comment, REISSUE THE DAMN THING!!!! You still have some interest out there for it.
I ended up getting a regular exercise wheel and a step-up plastic platform to do both exercises.....but having them both in a gig like this would be awesome!

I gets nowhere near the respect he deserves. In a real fight, he could probably take out many of these 30 year old wrestlers. Guy has skill and class period.

It looks like he's only aged ten years in the last 40 years. The man is a legend, all natural, no steroids.

It works he did one complete rep was totally out of breath at a point I thought he was going to faint and fall flat on his face but it works.
