The Pentastar with AWD is the best choice if you live in a place where you rarely see 10 inches of snow. In NYC, my 300SRT with RWD is just fine. But when the snow gets high I pull out my 2014 JEEP SRT. A Hellcat will work in the same places a regular SRT will. BUT YOU ALWAYS USE THE RED KEY.
No kidding tried the good old black key even with winter tires it just spun I find that putting the car in valet mode is a great option to go through the snow
Im sure the price would atleast double if it was equipped with an AWD system. An AWD system that can support that much power is not cheap to say the least.
Cameron Krepps The price wouldnt double for AWD on a Charger, for it to double it needs to have an advanced AWD system like GTRs and Porsches. But its a dodge so their AWD will not be advanced, and the price will only be 2-3k extra for AWD
I'm always amazed that as often as you state how these test are done a mile above sea level, there are some viewers who question why performance figures are so "slow". But as redundant as that gets, I guess it becomes a necessary evil for those who don't understand it.
In settings there is a menu called Auto On Comfort. It will turn on heated seats and steering wheel if the temp is below 45, and AC and ventilated seats (if equipped) above 70. The AWD also features a front axle, so on a normal day it's essentially a RWD car. If your wipers are on, you break traction, or if it's below 37 outside the AWD will engage automatically. Awesome video by the way.
Hey Roman. How about a quick " Big Human test"? Just ask something bigger than 6`6" to get into the automobile/truck, and tell us how comfortable is (head room, knees, etc). Then review how the rear seat space remains. That should help us (big guys) to see if that car is worth checking in the dealer....... and it should take just 15 to 30 seconds !! Just bringing you ideas !!!!
Roman, Typically there would be a yaw sensor at center mass, a steering position sensor and both fore-aft and side load g-sensors, along with the usual wheel speed sensors and data from the powertrain control module. It takes a lot of information to make it all work.
7.8 0-6, 300hp on an awd that weighs over 4,500lbs isn't bad. To be honest I feel Dodge can better utilize the motor with a better transmission. Belive it or not, I felt that even though the 8speed is the new generation, you have the feeling that the car is being throttled by computer interference and the car not being finely tuned. I know for a fact that the v6 awd even with 300hp can make 0-60 in 6.5 second if it were better tuned
I have this car, and the scat pack, I have done 0-60 in this car 6.4 seconds. I really don't think it matter for this car because its not for track/race performance, people buy this for weather. I live in Minnesota, so yea its needed.
THE OKOI FAMILY CHANNEL You can put a Rippsupercharger on that V6 AWD Charger and it'll make the same amount of Horsepower as the Scat Pack while still having AWD.
The Fast Lane Car hey guys great job roman on this review :) i was wondering when the next time you guys were gonna do a video together like you and Nathan or all three like the good old times
I live in NJ and I got my 2015 Dodge Charger without AWD. Maybe if you live way up north it might be useful. Our parents got to work on time just fine with a rear wheel drive car. Police cars and taxis are rear wheel drive and get around just fine. Our parents in many cases were driving on just one wheel, not even two, because they did not have traction control, which is standard on many cars these days. The lower gas mileage and the complexity of the 4 wheel drive system just does not make sense to own a 4 wheel drive in NJ. I had no problem this year riding around in the snow, on the standard all season tires that came with the car. You could get snow tires if you are concerned about the snow, which will give you even more traction than the regular all season tires. As I said before, this is a heavy car. The old timers used to put a few bags of sand in the trunk. Just a couple of hundred pounds in there makes a big difference.
Could you please take every car, SUV, etc AWD off road, I know some of them are not 100% made for that but is fun and we can have an idea of the differences between AWD and 4WD, thank you
Just a minor gripe with your traction explanation - the car will actually reduce power to the wheel that has the most traction. If the opposite were true, the wheel with the most traction would spin the car out because the unbalanced force on one side would contribute to angular momentum instead of forward momentum. The only exception would be if both of the front wheels has more traction than both of the rear wheels, or if both of the rear wheels had more traction than both of the front wheels.
he needs to review the Taurus with AWD and the impala too.. not just say ehh this is better..I think it would be cool to see all three go plow through some fairly deep snow
My Cadillac ATS has the same problem with the radio turning itself on when the car is restarted. At least it is in the mute position when it turns itself on.
AWD is overglorified if I may say. Snow tires are where it's at! of course, snow tires and AWD will give you the best traction, but snow tires + RWD and snow tires + FWD will do better than an AWD car on all seasons in terms of braking and cornering.
Fart Knocker ha ha except for the understeer because all the weight is in the front... I can't think of any racing that is done with only front wheel drive vehicle
you guys should compare cars with AWD..like a AWD charger VS AWD Taurus..not sure if GM makes a full sized family car with AWD but it would be cool to compare them all..I have a Taurus SHO witch it AWD and I love it in the snow..just thought it would be a cool match up
uconnect radio = absolutely agree, I do NOT want it to turn on when I start the car if the radio was off when I turned off the car. It HAS to be a Hellcat? We can’t settle for something in between if we don’t have an extra $70,000 lying around? How about an R/T? Maybe even a Scat? Thanks for posting. Very informative and thorough review.
There aren't any paddles but I did see buttons in place of paddles there, don't they have the same function? Unless they do something else, I didn't really read up on this car.
How can you tell if a 2009 Charger is AWD or not? VIN # isn't being consistent. It says 4drive in the dash when I put it in drive, but Idk if that's the sign or not.
@@dukinygaming259 If you look at the front brakes the caliper is backwards mounted (facing the front of the car vs. the rear) on all Chrysler LX platform AWD cars.

I agree with the infotainment comments mostly. I test drove a 2015 Challenger recently and it had redundant physical buttons for climate control and I think seat heaters too. I really liked that, because the thought of digging through menus while I'm driving to change the temperature seemed crazy when I saw early reviews of these cars. I was happy to find out that it is not the only way to do it. Also, the one I drove was the 6.4L, holy crap that's an engine. The car is such a boat though. It would be awesome for interstate/highway cruising, but maneuvering through city traffic and parking lots didn't seem appealing. I may try the Charger R/T 392 when it's available. The Charger actually feels smaller when you drive it than the Challenger. I think it's the length of the hood, you sit so far back in the Challenger. And the headroom was disappointing in the Challenger with the sunroof, my head was hitting the ceiling. That shouldn't be a problem in a car that size. The Charger seems to have slightly more headroom.
As I live in canada that's a hard one to say, my enthusiast side says 2014 charger R/T but the 2014 still has a lot of the teething problems that they didn't fix until 2015 so expect a lot more maintenance on the 14 over the 17 for the same mileage, but if your willing to pay for the extra insurance, gas, and repairs of the R/T go for that
mate... with the money you save on buying a hellcat you can modif the 3.6L V6 to do like 400 HP + a supercharger and it would probably beat the hellcat thanks to its AWD system and i bet it would save you even more fuel then the hellcat who needs brawns when you have BRAINS mate
i have an 06 with a 3.5l v6 and it has 238k miles on it still very reliable i never hesitate to take it out of state or anything that people with high mileage cars usually worry about, just follow the suggested maintenance log that comes with the car and get oil changes every 4-5k miles and its a very reliable car, atleast mine has been.
Double-O $¢rilla you shouldn't have any issue at all. these new vehicles are really good and i feel like mopar/FCA has really improved on the quality front.
Our Charger will not start in the cold? Even had it plugged in, the damned thing just will not start without boosting it? This is the only time of year that the car ever gives us any trouble. It's a 2017. I thought maybe the battery? But am not sure because the trunk light is bright when I open it to have it boosted. Anyone have any idea?
C & A. R that’s sad, my AWD 2012 has never died in all it’s time and still rides like new and doesn’t slide during winter I pass all the 4x4 trucks and suv’s lol
If you have the traction on, the wheels aren't slipping, it's not in manual mode, and not in sport mode and above 37 degrees then it's in rear wheel drive
Bryson Shires there is a fuse you can pull out. It's fun but doesn't really let you spin the tires on dry pavement since the traction control can't be fully disabled. If you look it up there is a video of a 2014 charger awd the guy explains it well.
@@motorcitymuscle1598 You can force the car into AWD by putting it in manual mode or disabling the traction control. I have a device for my 2014 Chrysler 300C AWD Hemi called the Z-Automotive Taser that plugs into the OBD2 port and allow you to disable the front axle without any modification and force RWD. It also allows you to use the front ABS system as a Line Lock for burnouts.
You know, here in Europe if you want a V6 all wheel drive sedan, any sedan of this size, you have to go beyond 50k euros, for a new one. So when germans come along and say, we build them way better, my question is for whom? For us?? Or for your rivals?? Drivers don't need that expensive hyper technologised, super kited out cars. Not sure about this whole 4WD is extra security he keeps talking about. Sure, its get you through the slush but it doesn't help you stop any faster - something a lot of 4x4 drivers seem to forget. If that Elantra had spun out in front of your the 4WD wouldn't have saved your insurance from an expensive repair bill.
It’s not the best all-wheel-drive system for the snow, considering it’s a rear wheel drive biased all-wheel-drive system, whereas most all-wheel-drive systems are front wheel drive biased
So how would this do in some deeper snow? In rural Indiana sometimes you see a snow plow before work, other days you won't. And I've never seen anything for the ice on the roads.
i wonder if dodge is still using a temperature sensor to control AWD. that was the stupidest thing i ever saw in auto industry where the AWD would slacken above a certain temprature.
+jpogi gtxcr1 that's not how it works. All you have to do is take the traction control off or even spin the tires a little bit and the awd stays on for good. There are several ways of turning it on.
Slackers.... could you possibly have done a lazier video? How about a comparison between the Charger AWD, a Passat 4motion, an Audi Quattro, and a Subaru on the snow? AND YES, get serious and put the same tires on them and do it right...? Ya THINK?
nope sorry i owe a 2015 charger awd and an Audi A4 quattro, and tho i havent gotten stuck in the snow with the charger i do feel that the Audi Quattro is way better
Audi quattro better AWD than anyone cept subaru. I own Volvo R with AWD...not nearly as roadworthy in weather as Audi. However my wife subaru elent in snow. Unfortunately all these cars too low to the ground! Forget about Honda and Toyato AWDs
They buy them, I see American cars driving around all the time. Some don't buy them because they have a bad reputation with reliability back in the early 2000's and 90's so people are wary to purchase the new ones. Plus even the new cars still have issues.
Americans do buy american vehicles. They have had a bad rap through the 2000's (for good reason, cutting corners everywhere) but the new models are incredible for the $$$, really a complete 180 in some markets.
Neo Hideo However when it comes to full sized cars there's been only the Toyota Avalon from a mainstream non luxury level Japanese manufacturer. It's a sales success but is not dominant in the segment.

I just gave you your LIKE #1000
Nice job.
Haha good luck trying to drive a hellcat in the snow. But I would still rather own one....
More attitude then the Chevy SS and Cadillac CTS V really? It looks like a refaced avenger, and is as heavy as small trucks with awd.
2:35 shitty no-season tires
i wonder if dodge is still using a temperature sensor to control AWD. that was the stupidest thing i ever saw in auto industry where the AWD would slacken above a certain temprature.
Its like:
"hmmmm, I'm going off road a bit and maybe drive by the sandy beach line, but oh no! Its summer and this car don't have AWD at the moment.
+jpogi gtxcr1 that's not how it works. All you have to do is take the traction control off or even spin the tires a little bit and the awd stays on for good. There are several ways of turning it on.
Dukiny Gaming I got you bro, I was just joking a little.
I would of expected 5.5 for 60mph
JoshuaDRD that’s usually what it is, higher elevation causes for thinner air and the engine can’t breathe as well which makes power more sluggish
Who tf is this guy sitting in the passenger seat lmao
It's usually either Andre or Romans son
Camera man. We'll nickname him Happy.
1guyin10 lmao 😂😂😂😂
His name is Ian. Doesn't look very happy to be there.
***** and it's funny asf 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That hood gap.
Slackers.... could you possibly have done a lazier video?
How about a comparison between the Charger AWD, a Passat 4motion, an Audi Quattro, and a Subaru on the snow?
AND YES, get serious and put the same tires on them and do it right...?
Ya THINK?
My charger only has tcs :( DAMN YOU 2009 MODEL! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!
Awsome
nope sorry i owe a 2015 charger awd and an Audi A4 quattro, and tho i havent gotten stuck in the snow with the charger i do feel that the Audi Quattro is way better
Audi quattro better AWD than anyone cept subaru. I own Volvo R with AWD...not nearly as roadworthy in weather as Audi. However my wife subaru elent in snow. Unfortunately all these cars too low to the ground! Forget about Honda and Toyato AWDs
A color other than white please
Классная тачка 👌👍
Old version was stupid ugly.
I rather get the 2012-2014 version than the newer look that looks like a nerd with glasses. 😂😂😂
a car like this Elantra? lol
Lease it...Seriously? Come on! You cant even afford the hellcat. Heres a question Roman...what car are you driving as your personal vehicle?
This car is just a supped up dart
Whatever helps you sleep at night;)
Definitely not if you by a dart you buy fiat... this car is by far the better of most when it comes to v6 and vehicles
Having winter tires is more important than AWD.
Why Americans don't buy American sedans today? I'm from Europe and I wonder. Americans please respond.
Cameron Krepps Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are number one sedans in the US (units sold), so Japanese car manufacturers rule American market
Neo Hideo However when it comes to full sized cars there's been only the Toyota Avalon from a mainstream non luxury level Japanese manufacturer. It's a sales success but is not dominant in the segment.
Neo Hideo Japanese and Chinese manufacturing pretty much dominates everything in the US. American manufacturers are making a come back, though.
I hate that fake muffler shit.
Audi made in 🇺🇸 = dodge
Dear TFL,
May you not say as many bad words because Iam 9 but I love your vids but plz don't say many bad words?
another unsupervised child oh goody
Eww no hemi just waste
Doesn't come near as good as a Subaru awd
I hate this car
The new charger is ugly as sin. The old one was perfect. They screwed up perfection.
Matt Rowlands I'm thinking the opposite the older one is ugly
same, i mean its nots ugly it nice but i much prefer the new look. The rims need changing but i can deal with that.
Matt Rowlands I used to think its ugly but now it growing all over me and now I'm starting to like the new look but however it'll never look as good as the 69-70 chargers.
Matt Rowlands the old charger looks like A falcon the old charger is for try hards who like that boxy looking shit the new one has A tough and classy look
Matt Rowlands the old one had no class
Dude im not even watching , so gay with 4 doors they ruined charger...
its been 4 doors for years why do people keep saying this? do you not know of the challenger?
Yes the car is a sexuality, and look at the challenger if you don't like cats that make sense
A42yearoldARAB actually the dodge charger was a two door
crush the great I know many many years ago
You know the Charger is much more aerodynamic than the challenger. By a lot
Yeah a hellcat. Who that go from home to work and want a reliable awd American sedan needs a hellcat? Car testers are void from reality and pricing imo.
