Since everyone is talking mileage, I have a 13 v6 with 160k miles on it. Runs like a dream still and being 6'4", this car is great for bigger guys. Other than maintenance I had to change the fuel pump at 140k miles (it's under the back seat and took 15 minutes). P.S. That is a lot of city miles because I am a rideshare driver with 1,500+ trips all in this car.

I wouldn’t recommend the newer version.. they have more technology in them... which is more difficult to fix.. in my opinion...all that touch screen and stuff comes with a price
I have 2012 Charger V6 and it’s the best car I’ve owned. Sporty enough to be fun to drive but practical enough to be a daily driver. Solid engine and smooth 8 speed transmission. I don’t know why Scotty hates on Chrysler so much when I think they nailed it with the Charger.

I’ve rented 2 of these Chargers within the past 2 years both the 3.6 and the 5.7 Hemi. I enjoyed both of them. The interior is comfortable and the layout works for me. Sure the 5.7 is faster and sounds better, but the 3.6 runs well.
frank sinatra I rented from Budget or Avis. I told them I wanted a full size car, and I got to choose from a row of cars since the keys are inside, so I chose the Charger.

I have a 06 r/t with 240,000 miles . Runs amazing and is very solid. Yes I have had to work in it just the same as the men did before me with the chargers in the 60's and 70's with v8's over 300 horsepower. I don't mind it because its extremely simple to tune and wrench on. It rides amazing an easy to get the kids in and out of. Had it for over a year and enjoy it alot.

Even the v6s are revved too high Scotty you havnt seen when a teenager gets a hold of one whether it’s theirs or their moms .. here in Phoenix they think it’s fast and the furious “taco edition”
I had a 2014 charger SXT V6 rear wheel drive from 20k to 100k miles. It ran like a champ and no issues at all outside the factory warranty. The V6 Pentastar engine is extremely reliable as long as the oil is changed!
Bo and Luke always seemed to handle their 1969 Dodge Charger R/T the General Lee quite well. The Duke Boys had Cooter Davenport, we have Scotty Kilmer.
Everytime I want to buy a new car I watch this guy’s video of the car I want and I no longer want it. I’ve saved so much money by this dude shitting on everything lol
Rented the R/T version for two months this year and was surprised at how nice the car was as a DD. Comfortable interior, great touch screen set up and always felt planted even with your foot down.
My 06 charger has 264k miles. Still runs good. Only major issue were the attachments that hold the timing chain broke because they were made of plastic.. changed them to metal. Runs fine now
Hi, man and I don’t want to waste your time. Just need some advice from you and I am trying to buy one old charger with good mileage and can you advice how to make it last long and what mileage should I replace. Are you the first owner?
@@umerthemagnificent8672 No I’m not the first owner, my aunt used the car before me as a commuter back then. For one don’t race it like it’s a sport car, and just make sure to change the fluids ie engine/transmission. How many miles is yours? As far as the engine goes, it’s pretty solid. Dodge cars have a problem with the shifter, there’s a plastic piece that will break overtime which allows you to take your car from park into gear. You can replace the plastic assembly piece with a metal one or get a new shifter module. I just opened the assembly and manually pressed the safety button to take it out of park, that works too. And for the chain assembly I guess it depends on how many miles you got in order for it to wear down. You can replace that with the metal one.
I had the Pentastar V6 in a 2014 Grand Cherokee and I was impressed with the power, especially with a heavy SUV like the GC. Engine was very smooth and respectably powerful.
As far as quality goes for that car you can easily see it was neglected all its life. Get the same year charger that's been taken care of and then do your review. I promise you'll see a huge difference.
You should have seen my 08 Daytona Charger. 149,000 miles when I got rid of it and it was in way better condition than that one. Now I have a 17 Scat Pack no issues what so ever.
BEFORE you replace a hub assembly that has thrown a code but not making a noise....change the cable that plugs into the hub first. Its cheap and more than once when my hand held computer isolated which wheel was throwing an ABS code (also Service 4x4, Service traction lights on 4x4). You might be surprised that a 15 dollar cable is your problem...and still would be if you change the hub and NOT the cable.
I had a charger for 2 years a 2016 bought it with 38k miles on it with a v6 and drove Uber and Lyft with it for the full 2 years and got rear ended and render totaled by insurance with 170k miles on it and never NEVER had a problem with it except regular maintenance and a fuel pump failed once when the car reached 90k miles other than great fun car would buy another any time
pretty sad to see a car so mistreated. but very nice to see it lasting the way it did under such conditions. makes me less worried about my chargers longevity. thx for the vid scotty :)
Bought a 2014 Pursuit Package V8 from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shes got 148k miles but runs like a dream and really well kept. Only paid about 9k for it, shes my baby :)
Thanks for doing a video on the charger I've owned a 2014 se v6 exactly like the one in your video. Only difference is mine is black on black. The only thing I've had to do, other than oil changes is the front ball joints and the oil filter assembly leaking; which seemed to be a problem this model has. Nothing major thank God, only had 63,000 when I purchased it and I've put about 30,000 in 3 1/2 years still going strong think I got blessed with this vehicle seeking as it will probably be the last one I own. Thanks again love your videos
I’ve had my ‘12 Durango Pentastar V6 since April 2012 and I’m still on my original headlights, directionals, taillights and break lights. The only thing I’ve needed was a new cabin filter when I thought that my ac blower was making noise. The V6 is fuel flexible and in that I live in Florida I’ve used e85 a few times when hurricanes made gasoline availability scarce and my Durango became a vegetarian. I drive it like an old fart and I haven’t had any problems.
I'm glad they sorted things out with the newer 3.6 V6 over the older 2.6 V6. I've always love crown vicrorias and when the police switched over to the charger I thought they looked so cool but I was really disappointed when I heard they had quality and reliable issues because that's a huge part of what makes the crown vics so great
Very easy to work on? The 3.6 pentastar? You’ve got to be kidding right? Change the spark plugs on that and or oil cooler and tell me how easy it is compared to a 90s celica.
Great review Scotty. I own a 2019 Charger RT Plus. I bought the Charger because I purchased a 16 Caravan for work and now with 105k, it has had the least problems of any vehicle I've owned. If you treat them right, they treat you right. You drive them into the ground, you have issues. I don't expect to put endless miles on a car and not having to service it. I also realize that you need to do more than oil changes. I address issues early. Previously I was a Volvo, VW and Ford driver. I was always at the dealer with one failure after another. I have 3k on the Charger and I must admit, I love the thing. The sound and feel when driving are awesome. It looks great, and I can fit three golf bags in the trunk without putting the seats down in the back! Can't do that in a Mustang.
Jedno Florestal I help escort oversize loads like mobile homes wind turbine blades or heavy construction vehicles or equipment so I travel all around the US
@@Destinationreached Oh ok. So mostly highway mileage. I always thought heavy haulers paid for the escort vehicles. I would never agree to use my own. That mileage is nothing for a tractor but on a car that's ridiculous.
Those are aftermarket diys black wheels, and the missing exhaust tip most likely was the result of driver error backing into something. But glad you are starting to come around a little-lol. Stay well!
My grandmother's 2018 Chrysler Pacifica won against a Dodge Challenger with the V6 and the new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel on the highway I personally love FCA's V6's
Scotty finally makes the video I have been waiting for ...and doesnt talk about anything except the damage. Can you please do a video on the engine/trans etc.
It's because Chargers and Challengers are actually pretty good cars considering. Chrysler puts all their money into them since they are pretty much their flagship vehicles.
Scotty. Which engine will last longer with proper maintenance(5k oil change) and normal driving. The 3.6 pentastar or the 5.7 hemi. I'm guessing the hemi but would love your opinion
Could throw in my 2007 SRT8 for an 'Old vs New' type of video lol. My car is in damn near perfect condition with 107k miles so if Scotty thought this crappy white Charger was well kept, he'd love ours.
@@KirilPetrov65 for a 2007, the mileage is actually pretty good. It should have around 135k miles by now. 107k isnt high miles. My car is in excellent condition and has proper maintenence records dating back to the first owner.
I have a 2008 Dodge Charger 3.5L V6, and I love her! Bought it with 156K miles, for $4000. 4 years and 20K miles later, I haven't had really needed many repairs. The Fuel Injectors began failing so I replaced them all. I change oil and gaskets religiously. My favorite aspects are that it has sufficient power (just enough to keep me from getting in trouble). Also I love that the that the weight balance is dang close to 50/50, which makes it extremely stable at high speeds. Great car!
3.0 VQ engines are reliable, but putting a water pump with the the timing chain assembly is a big no no. I mean, they do have the holes to access the tesioner and the water pump. Overall, still a big no no.
There essentially the same car inside. The Charger is a bit longer in the wheelbase (2-3” longer), but mechanically they are the same. I own a 2011 Challenger with the dual cam V6 and it’s got not quite 93,000 miles on it. I’ve had ZERO issues with it except for a couple recalls. I do cut it loose from time to time and for its size it’s a VERY good performer! Gas mileage is an issue around town.....I can’t get better than 20 miles to the gallon, but on the highway about 26-27. They’re decent cars if they’re not beaten to death. 👍🏻
Scotty, I have a 2006 3.5L Charger SXT which I bought brand new in 2007 and I still love it. I have 160,000 kms on it.and it sits outside for 5-6 months a year so it's not exposed to salt as I live in Ontario Canada. They are actually really well built and the one you showed obviously has just not been taken care of at all. My paint, rims, and interior are all still in great shape because I took care of mine. The only issues I've had were the transmission leaked from mechanic making a mistake when it went to the dealers for the first service, the plastic piece in the shift interlock went (I replaced with the aluminum one, and I had to replace the rear shocks last year. No problems with wheel bearings, power steering, or anything else. They're great cars just not in the snow unless you have AWD.
Breaks my heart to see Mopar treated this way. I own a 2017 scat and she’s at about 65k now and she’s never had a single problem. Of course I am sure to maintain the car in every possible way, never leaving a spec of dust on the interior and never allowing anything internally speaking to get behind on services. Chrysler products are temperamental, but if you treat them right, they can ran for a very long time
Until striking a deer (10-pointer), my wife’s Dodge Magnum with the 3.5 Litre engine was reasonably reliable. It was no Camry, but it never really let us down. Gladly ... we did not have their 2.7 L or one of those V8 Hemi’s. But ours was a reasonable purchase. Thanks for the video Scotty.
Kellington Link god damn deer. I’m lucky they’ve all been does (or extremely young bucks) but I’ve had THREE gallop full-tilt out of the woods and directly into the SIDE of my car in 56,000 miles 🤬🤬🤬
I rented an SXT (3.6) awhile back, and loved the car! Accelerated good, cornered good, and was even good on bumpy roads, and railroad tracks. The only thing that sucked was the programming of the radio, and climate control.
The v8 hemis are good cars. Bought a 44,000mile 2016 5.7pursuit awd in 2019. Currently 95,000 miles. Tires Brakes rotors, new water pump @90,000 miles. Some hemis burn oil, get top end issues others last beyond 200k. The pursuit charger has a lot of performance for the value on the used market. Stock v8 Awd 390tq swapped a hellcat hood & bumpers painted b5 blue
I bought a red 2014 charger rt awd just last year with 110k miles for $14.5k. The car was maintained with oil changes every couple thousand miles and ran perfectly. I live in MN where we have a lot of snow in the winter, so I bought bridgestone blizzak tires and went through 8 inches of snow no problem. I tried to get it stuck and it wouldn't. It is an absolute beast. Unfortunately on Feb 13th I got rear ended very badly and ruined the rear and the exhaust. It took a month to fix and was almost totalled. But in the end it came out better than before. We got oem parts for it and the repair guy was able to put a Pypes Violator cat back exhaust on it. To this day I cant get over how well this v8 runs and sounds. Btw, I bought it myself at 17 years old. Nobody believed I could do it 😂. So I worked hard to prove them wrong and I don't regret it.
@Snails40 ... plated like a tank? Pay attention to the context. It's a car. If you drive attentively and take care of your vehicle, you wouldn't have dents in the doors like that, the paint on the wheels and grille is plastidip, so it's not factory, and practically any black interior would look like crap after 10 years with no upkeep.

I purchased a 2013 pursuit with 180k miles from Texas facilities. Handles and drives like a new one. Love the car. Scotty should review one.

I have a 2007 Dodge Charger RT that I bought new. Now it has about 160K miles on it and its been flooded twice. Still runs good.

As far as quality goes for that car you can easily see it was neglected all its life. Get the same year charger that's been taken care of and then do your review. I promise you'll see a huge difference.
I love when you do these reviews of older model cars!
You should have seen my 08 Daytona Charger. 149,000 miles when I got rid of it and it was in way better condition than that one. Now I have a 17 Scat Pack no issues what so ever.

You might be surprised that a 15 dollar cable is your problem...and still would be if you change the hub and NOT the cable.

Scotty’s next video: “Mopar or no car!”

It's because Chargers and Challengers are actually pretty good cars considering. Chrysler puts all their money into them since they are pretty much their flagship vehicles.

Great car!
Sorry, even for a 2011 V6 bottom of the line....this car is in rough shape.
3.0 VQ engines are reliable, but putting a water pump with the the timing chain assembly is a big no no. I mean, they do have the holes to access the tesioner and the water pump. Overall, still a big no no.

What are your thoughts on a 2012 Dodge Challenger sxt v6 with 56,000 miles are they worse then the Charger our the same
There essentially the same car inside.

And even though it sits 5-6 months over the winter it still has the original battery and starts right up like it was running yesterday.
