This! I’m currently rocking Sony XM4s, which are still very good (although it has lost the ability to pause when i take them off my ears), but I do want a cheaper alternative to AirPods Max, but with the convenience of an audio jack port.
@@Sylvan_dB the pressure on top isn’t bad after three hours don’t really feel it but yes max is slightly better for the top. My issue with the max is the clamping on the ears feels like someone has their hands pressing in on the ears.
Thanks for the in-depth compare. Apple was thinking that no matter which device consumers choose, it will generate revenue for the company. This is the same marketing strategy Proctors and Gamble followed for years. Since Jan 2023, Apple stock has climbed 55%! They make nice products and have a very “sticky” ecosystem and now they are expanding their reach in each product category.
I choose the Beats now as my preferred over the ear headphones! Yes, I own the AirPods Max also! The three major factors for me are the weight - the Beats are noticeably lighter, the flexibility the Beats provides by folding and the case. This causes the Beats to be much more portable compared to the Max. The max are a stay at home headphone. Finally it’s the price, although I bought the Max the day of release 💰- 500 vs 349 is significant. There are other minor quibbles that doesn’t change my opinion. ANC and transparency mode are very similar! Finally, the Beats present a much subtler image in public! How things change! The Max have become more of a status and fashion statement! I experience this when my 20-year daughter who attends UCLA has in the last few months has asked for the Max’s now!🙏🏽
The price is only good compared to the airpods. (Which is insanly bad) I doubt its better than the sony xm5 or even the xm 4 and they are right now cheaper.

At 2:00 you state that the beats turn off when folded, but that’s not the case this feature was removed on this model. Also they can’t sense when they are on your head or when you take them off to pause the music. Not a big deal but most headphones in this price range include this. Used to love the beats brand and still love the Powerbeats pros. At this time the air pod max’s at 100 bucks off on Amazon ($450) .. for 100 bucks more than the these beats you get the Apple h2 chip and all the sensors.
You don’t get an H2 chip. The AirPods Max have an H1 chip. Even so I too like them better than the beats for comfort and sound quality and build quality.
I tried the Beats Studio Pros at the Apple store yesterday and found them to have an okay sound, however, the Sony M4's go way louder than the Beats Studio Pros.
I had the Beats Solo and enjoyed them just not the on ear type. These sounds like a lot of good options such as USB-C charging, foldable, on/off button and comes with cable to listen wired. I still don’t know I would like these better than my current APM for sounds and comfort.
Literally just traded in my old beats for the studio pros and there’s a huge difference in the quality. And being cheaper than both the max and the Sony’s these offer a great alternative now. Also the usb c and 3.5 is huge I know when I travel now I’ll only need one brick to power all of my stuff
There are a ton of problems with those foldable style hinges. Ask me, my beats solo 3 didn't even last 2 years while my AirPods Pro and other headphones are still going strong.
When I read the title I was worried I want to get the new Beats to potentially replace my AP Max. After watching, I’ll be very happy just sticking with what I’ve currently got. The build quality alone is worth the AP Max in my opinion. I legitimately cringed a little when I heard the sound the Beats made when you manipulated the buttons on the side

It has a custom chip made just for the beats. Likely a cost saving move. There are other knocks against the beats as build quality is nowhere near the AirPods Max and for me I find the beats way less comfortable to wear.
Anything is comparable but the question is how do they compare lol. With everything said it’s up to each person to decide what they like the most. It’s not just who has the longest list of features. None of it matters if they don’t feel comfortable on your head for example.

Great video! I just bought them today after reviewing it with you. Have you tried to see if it connects to a PS5 controller via the usb c to get audio from the ps5? I think these would be great for gaming too!
Something to note is that the 40hrs of battery is without ANC so when you run a side by side ANC comparison the Beats last 24 hours... not too significant of a difference
The max sound amazing even at high volume, I don’t think they really compare. The beats are more an alternative to Sony and Bose, not a max alternative.

I have those. They are great. However the AirPods Max are better. I use both, for some situations I still use the momentum’s. You can count me as a fan of the momentums 4 but my AirPods Max sound better
Only thing better about the AirPod max is the build quality, the slightly better clarity in sound, anc and transparency. Beats still sound amazing and definitely more bassy. The anc and transparency is good enough. The features of the beats alone make them the better buy.
Beats Studio Pro were like $180. I bought a pair. They're worth $180. They're not worth $350. They are inferior to the XM4/XM5 in every way. BUT for $180, they're worth it. 😅😅😅😅
Love the AirPods Max a lot, I just hate the smelly cups after having them for a while and the mesh gets annoying after a while I wouldn’t say they are worth $500 while the material may be worth that much but I feel as overall they do share similarities with Beats Studio pros and xm5, xm5 is also one of my favorites that I’ll buy later in the future.

The Beats for users who don’t care about premium/best build quality and don’t want to spend as much, and some have Android devices so it gives them a choice to buy an Apple product that works with Android. It’s smart marketing strategy. Both are good products. It depends what is most important to you. Apple wants you to have the choice but still be buying an Apple product. Same with beats buds vs apple buds.
The only thing about the beats is that because they are folded they are very easy to break... I had wireless solo beats before but only used them for 1 1/2 years as the folded thing was already broken and the foam on the ear cups had already been removed
I own a lot of headphones/earbuds including the solos and AP max’s and while ive never had any issues with the max’s, i can attest to the ear cups removing themselves over time. Another issue i had with the solos was the sound out of one side became very quiet and almost hissy, so I sent them to apple (not covered under any warranty as it was after a year of purchase and i did not have apple care) and they repaired both for free. Unfortunately, the ear cups removed themselves again several months later so i decided to repair them myself. While they are not as easy as just magnetically popping in new ones like the AP max’s, the entire process is relatively easy while a plethora of customization. I occasionally still use my solo’s as I bought a dbrand skin and blue ear cups for my white solo’s and they look incredible. However, the AP max’s are just second to none regardless of how you look at it
These are both on sale for Prime day!! I can’t decide!! I’m stuck on the feature of taking them off and the sensor in the Max cuts them off… but all other features I like about the beats.. lighter.. fold.. 2X battery life… ergh idk which to go with…
Another cool thing with the 3.5mm headphone jack is that i can run the beats on my headphone amps... Including my Fiio BTR7 portable amp/ DAC. Which allows me to send 900kbs LDAC (Lossless audio) over Bluetooth from my pixel fold via Amazon music HD or Apple music. If i want to roam around I can throw the tiny Fiio dac/ amp in my pocket and BT Lossless from my phone aross the room etc. Not something i can do with my Airpod max
I have always loved my Beats. Unfortunate fact is they don't last. However I have never purchased the AirPods Max either so only on reputation would I assume they last. Could be the same I don't know. Bottom-line, I have always loved Beats but the durability has been something that falls short. Both microphone sound qualities are less than desirable at the same level but lacking differently (not a feature 🙂)
If they don’t short themselves out due to condensation they last (unfortunately I’m of the group that experiences shorts, and for me they only last 3-4 months)
You can probably be more comfortable buying them and getting apple care for $29. Ive had airpods brake and get them easily replaced my apple care so im confident im in good hands for my studio pros
Have you considered trying the focal bathys since they have usb dac mode with the usb c port? Even flossy carter made a youtube video about the focal bathys and he is not even an audiophile. I just saw the flossy carter youtube video yesterday about the same beats bluetooth headphones from this video and he has the hi res sony walkman running android and used the usb c port to connect the beats headphones to his sony walkman.
I have the Air Pods Max. I'm too happy with these to sell them or get the Beats Studio Pro but if I had neither I'd save the money and get the Pro. Plus they fold easier and are superior for travel.
I was going to get the Beats Studio pros but since I wear glasses it gets uncomfortable for me and hurts after a bit I got AirPods Pro 2 but no regrets at all but man would have love to try the Beats Studio pros
Way better case than the max! Anyone who has the max has gotten a 3rd party hardshell case for it that has the magnets for the sleep mode, they are not expensive. But you would think for the cost they would give you a case that is not a joke lol. However I didn’t buy the Max for the case.

Nice thing about these is they are compatible with the fast pair and all the features for both android and iOS not just iOS like the air pods max

I believe you can use the AirPods Max while charging, as long as you use a lighting to USB cable.
I have the Max, but I just ordered the Studio in Navy. The carrying case is the big W for me. Max's case isn't protective at all.
The AirPods Max ear cups are the only cups that actually are over ear, that helps greatly with long listening times.

The only true knock against the Beats is the lack of an H2 chip. If it had that, I would run out and get a pair right now.

I just bought the Beats Studio Pro, it's going back. Mainly because it's so small. These are not over the ear phones. Pretty tight on my head too.
I had to return my Beats Studio Pros. As a balding guy, they were very uncomfortable on the top of my head. Even with a hat on they were unusable.

I had the studio 3 that got a cracked headband. I'm sure this will happen to the studio pro as it is the same design.

These are both on sale for Prime day!! I can’t decide!! I’m stuck on the feature of taking them off and the sensor in the Max cuts them off… but all other features I like about the beats.. lighter.. fold.. 2X battery life… ergh idk which to go with…

Another cool thing with the 3.5mm headphone jack is that i can run the beats on my headphone amps...
Including my Fiio BTR7 portable amp/ DAC. Which allows me to send 900kbs LDAC (Lossless audio) over Bluetooth from my pixel fold via Amazon music HD or Apple music.
If i want to roam around I can throw the tiny Fiio dac/ amp in my pocket and BT Lossless from my phone aross the room etc. Not something i can do with my Airpod max
I have always loved my Beats. Unfortunate fact is they don't last. However I have never purchased the AirPods Max either so only on reputation would I assume they last. Could be the same I don't know. Bottom-line, I have always loved Beats but the durability has been something that falls short. Both microphone sound qualities are less than desirable at the same level but lacking differently (not a feature 🙂)
If they don’t short themselves out due to condensation they last (unfortunately I’m of the group that experiences shorts, and for me they only last 3-4 months)
You can probably be more comfortable buying them and getting apple care for $29. Ive had airpods brake and get them easily replaced my apple care so im confident im in good hands for my studio pros

Man, the fact you didn’t mention which chip the Beats uses is a big miss in this review.
Have you considered trying the focal bathys since they have usb dac mode with the usb c port? Even flossy carter made a youtube video about the focal bathys and he is not even an audiophile. I just saw the flossy carter youtube video yesterday about the same beats bluetooth headphones from this video and he has the hi res sony walkman running android and used the usb c port to connect the beats headphones to his sony walkman.
I have the Air Pods Max. I'm too happy with these to sell them or get the Beats Studio Pro but if I had neither I'd save the money and get the Pro. Plus they fold easier and are superior for travel.

I was going to get the Beats Studio pros but since I wear glasses it gets uncomfortable for me and hurts after a bit I got AirPods Pro 2 but no regrets at all but man would have love to try the Beats Studio pros

Honestly the case should have a harder shell. 350$ … I want it to be safe in my backpack.

Way better case than the max! Anyone who has the max has gotten a 3rd party hardshell case for it that has the magnets for the sleep mode, they are not expensive. But you would think for the cost they would give you a case that is not a joke lol. However I didn’t buy the Max for the case.
