In this video I go over the steps and procedures to replace all three belts on a Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra. Equipped with the 5.3 and 6.2 L ecotec3 engines. The larger belt which is a serpentine time is tension by an automatic spring type tensioner. AC compressor and vacuum pump are driving separately off of stretch tape else which require a special tool for installation. Special tool can be purchased from O’Reilly Napa or Carquest auto parts centers. I hope this video helps helped you out if it has please like and subscribe. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something in the comment section. Thank you for watching and below are a list of tools That I have used in this video.

I really hate that you lied to us and said the truck had over 100,000 miles on it when it was 2 miles shy of 100,000. Lol. Just messing with you. Great video! This will help me out tomorrow.
Glad I watched, I was just going to order 2 belts didn't even realize there was a third hidden in there. Thank you!
Thank you, sir, for saving me money! Took me about two hours to change all three belts plus the tensioner but definitely worth it. Keep up the good work.
just changed my belts and belt tension following this guide! thank you so much. took less that 1 hour for all 3 belts!
Thanks for this easily explained video. Just replaced all 3 belts in less than 45 mins. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Great guide! Did this from the top and also changed the tensioner in exactly 30 minutes. Thank you!
Replaced ac and serpentine belt on '13 5.3 Chevy 4wd. The trick for ac belt was awesome and had both belts replaced in 10 min.
Very good video I had replace the AC belt before and it also has a special tool to install the stretch belt. but the way you installed it with the zip tie look pretty easy as well. Thanks
Very straight forward and good video angles of the work being performed. Thanks for making the video.
Done. I did all three belts this morning. Thanks for the video -- it helped a LOT. My A/C belt also came with a tool and was very helpful without having to use a zip tie.
Bro I just changed my serpentine belt. Your video was really helpful. Thank you
im glad it helped you out!
Used your video to replace the AC and AP belts. The special tool worked as shown holding the AP belt on its’ pulley. Working on these two particular belts from the top side prove to be harder than if done from below whilst on a lift or ramps. But, thanks for the know how on this maintenance task.
Great video, I have a 2015 Silverado with a 5.3 L I'm glad I watched this.
great video.Answers my question on when to change belts.Love my gmc, just very disapointed with towing capacity having 3.08 ratio.
For anyone looking and curious if it works for the 4.3L (6-cyl). I can tell you this works perfectly for that engine as well. There's only one of the plugs to pop off (with the gray depress button). For my I was only replacing the AC belt, so I had to pop the serpentine belt off prior to installing it. Pop the serpentine belt back on once done and you're good to go. I used the AC Delco belt ordered from Rock Auto and it came with a stretch belt install tool that worked perfectly. But the zip ties are great for anyone that doesn't get the tool and needs to get the belt on.
Thanks for the perfectly descriptive video.
You made it look easy. Thanks for the video.
I have watched your video before. I decided to watch it right now as I am doing my belts. As it turns out, I did not have a zip tie long enough for your trick. So I did use two zip ties stuck together. In doing this, one of the flaps got stuck underneath the vacuum belt. I simply turned the crank until it was loose. And then when I went to do the main belt, I did not take a picture or remember the orientation of the belt, and I did have to consult this video several times to get the orientation proper. Everything did go fairly smooth. Thank you for the video.
from past experience, I always draw a belt diagram before removing any belts
Thanks much great video! Man the engineers at GM must have been having a wonderful time during this model range lol.
Thorough and overall excellent video. Worked for me no problem.
I am by no means. Matter-of-factly I did help my nephew do the serpentine belt in his Cruze, believe it or not, I did need to unbolt one of the motor mounts, ridiculous. I am now tasked with replacing the belt on my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado I have not done a bunch of research, but I was not aware of that third belt. I was also unaware that there was a stretch fit belt even available. This will help me. Thank you. This video, is put together very well.
Great video. Like that you showed all angles
Well explained brother, all clear a understandable. Thanks!
Great video! I just discovered my new 2016 Silverado has 3 belts.. thanks
Thanks for a direct to the point video
Thanks. Got it done in under 40 min 😃
Awesome, easiest I've ever installed a stretch it belt 30 cent ziptie
10/10 you are doing gods work here friend.
Nice video just the facts nothing but the facts. I did it fast and perfectly. Thanks
Thanks for the video, you save some money for me
My question is what about belt dressing
Some people said is bad other people said is good
Great video. Very helpful!
Thank you this was very helpful
Good video. It was very helpful. Thanks.
Excellent video!
Don't need to unplug the battery unless people randomly jump in your truck and turn it on with you in or under it. Lol. Also that tool is not needed, just use another zip tie on the vacuum pump belt, worked easily! Great video though!
Excellent video
My hero.....I can’t believed.....👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great video!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, much appreciated!
Thumbs up!
Thank you!

When I'm outside my 4x4 Yukon Denali, I'm smelling burnt rubber from what seems like the front area. I can't figure it out. Would you think that a belt(s) is a likely suspect? They all seem fine but I'm not sure if there is a way to tell if one is slipping.
Thanks Aaron.
You bet bud
Informative Thanks!!
Great video
Great video!!
Thank you!
Thank you for this video! GM dealerships charge $300 to replace the two stretch belts!
yikes! thats alot. im glad this video helped you out!
Great Job!
Nice work
Love you man
Thank you
Damn Son thats some shit...Thank you....Doing a compressor, and dident see the belt tensioner....,,Thank for the help, very helpful.........JB...........
I went ahead and got a belt tensioner to replace too along with the belts...
AND you gave part links? Saint.
Were you working from on top of the truck or under the truck.
I couldn't get the belt to jump on the pulley using the zip-tie going to the left.
I appreciate your time.
Nice video!!
Great video! I liked and subscribed. One issue. Your link to Oreilly and Amazon both say that the stretch belt tool you link to (which is different than the model # in your video) is the wrong tool for my 6.2L in a 2017 GMC Sierra Denali 4WD. Any ideas? And thank you for the excellent work here!
Very nice video, thank you! However disappointing it may be that there are multiple belts, and a special tool required, I should throw less wrenches and my neighbors won't hear me screaming as much from my garage.. cheers!
Man thanks a lot for this video I was getting ready to all the things you said not to do lol
After the cold start and warm up does your oil pressure go down and back up when you gas it
When putting the belt on the vacuum pump does it matter which way you turn the crankshaft
What causes a chirp on start up only lasts a second? 2017 Silverado 6.2L. Only has 41,000kms. Should I need a serpentine belt? The tensioner seems to be fine.
What size socket for block pully?
Nice video thanks. Also where do you order that specific anti freeze?
Auto parts stores have them ol reileys and auto zone do at least
My 2016 sierra would make a quick squeak noise on morning cold start but its been 2 days with no noise. Nd if the truck was already hot it would make noise when starting. Could it be the belts??
With your truck having that many miles did it have a rough idle? I know those years of trucks had them
Good video. I'm going to do mine soon. What socket size did you use to turn the crankshaft?
He said: 24 mm
I didn’t realize that in 2014 GM made a 6.2 L V8 I believe it’s a 6.0 L? I own a Ford 2017 VA with a 6.2 L. Just more of a question/ Comment. Otherwise I appreciate your video it was very well done, thank you for taking the time to provide us with one.
2014 Silverado is part of the K2 platform that uses a 6.2L L86. Some vehicles like Yukon and Tahoe didn't get it until 2015 though.
Im trying to replace my alternator on a 19 silverado and i cant seem to loosen the tensioner. Its different from this motor. Any clue how?
My 2019 Texas Edition belts are whistling but I don’t know which one is causing that. Is it recorded to change all three?
What did you find out?
Where did you get you at compressor belt from?
Zip tie trick would probably work on both bottom belts
What about the ZipTie? Did you cut it off when the pulley rotated around?
Yes.
Can I use plastic strap also for vacuum pump belt?
I had same idea. Using zip tie to hold vac belt while turning crank
can i zip tie the vacuum pump same as the A/C?
If I can remember I tried that first and it didn’t work too well. The problem is that it’s hard to keep tension on the belt while turning the crank shaft. I’m sure there could be a way to get it done but having the tool makes it a lot easier. If you’re able to figure It out please share how you did it. Thank you
The Ac Delco vacuum pump is 50$ cheaper than the gates one linked here just an FYI. Part number is 12643517
so you used a lift to get to the belts from the bottom?
No I used it so I had enough room for the camera and mount
What size did you use to spin it ?
You can use a 24 milimeter socket or 15/16
My ac belt melted off was caught in the bottom tray i found out when my ac wasnt blowing cold anymore what a bummer
The ac compressor may have seized up. Very common with these trucks. Try spinning the compressor by hand
@@AaronHinesAuto it does spin it seams the band wore out, think it could just be the band i wana try before taking it to a mechanic and speding alot
Don’t forget to remove the zip tie at the end.
Show me the 2019 Silverado with the alternator on TOP!!!
Can't you just use a zip tie for the first belt and pulley?
2019 at4 6.2 only 2 belts both stretch on and off
Such a fine design by GM. #GMSucks
How much its the cost to all the parts ?
hey juan, i have links in the description. but the main drive belt is 27.99, the vaccum belt is 60.00, the a/c belt is 29.00 and the stretch tool is 18.99.
Aaron Hines oh ok thank you so much
Check out rockauto’s website. I was able to buy all 3 belts and the tool for $28. After shipping the total was around $42. Gates tool, continental belts.
Gates tool is $6.21 at RockAuto...
Cut my belts then realized I didn’t have a 24mm socket ........
GM we make it harder that is rediculas they cant have a tensioner for the AC and air pump belt
Fix the noise issue dirty pulleys loose belt don’t put anything on them I sometimes spray water on a belt to see if squeal is belt or a bearing but any dressing is only coming back to haunt you
Don’t use any belt dressing I’m a licensed mechanic and I’ve got burned on a job it’ll come back noisier than when you started
Same for a 2015 suburban?
Yes!
Thank you!!
Does your suburban have a 5.3? Process of elimination says yes!!!!!
JUST A HEADS UP AND TO SAVE YOU TIME I'VE ALREADY LOOKED AND THIS SPECIFIC STRETCH BELT TOOL DOES NOT WORK FOR A 2019 LTZ 5.3 V8 ENGINE.. and that's based off of O'Reilly Auto parts where the link is too for
Excu
God Chevy’s are so dumb.. but thanks for the video. Changing all these belts out on my Mothers pickup.
You skipped on third belt
This is not for the years 14 15
Another stupid idea from GM! They must’ve hired Ford engineers! Three belts really? This is a modern day vehicle.
Great video!
