No tensioner?! Serpentine drive belt on a 2019 Silverado/Sierra 6.2L (and 5.3) - how I did it.

- I got sick of fooling with multiple different (and crappy) stretch belt tools that do not fit on the pulleys for the 6.2 L engine in my GMC sierra. I ordered and installed a tensioner and it was WORTH IT. Way easier. Should work the same on the 5.3 L engine. Used the ICT billet tensioner for the L87 engine.

Brother I just had to do an alternator change out on my 2019 Silverado. So I did change the AC belt ,,it’s also a stretch belt . It was a pain in the A…for me.
I did the zip tie over and over till I finally got them on😢sucks
I was able to use a 74" belt. and it fits very snug. I was able to do it with some help. The belt was fitted over the original GM water pump and the tensioner was left near its max pull.
If anyone reads this or has questions about it then I can probably answer them to the best of my knowledge.
I just installed this with a new belt including the A/C belt too.
Just gave me the courage to tackle mine 👍🏾
I'm having my first experience with the stretch fit. It's stupid. I forsee myself doing this in the future.
Hello, I got one more question? On that ICT tensioner… there should be little marking lines or notches. Those lines indicate weariness of the belt. I have seen people install 73.5” 74” 74.25” 75-3/4”. Could you take a look on your truck where your marking lines are?
I just installed the ICT kit as well but the (740K6) belt wouldn't go on no matter what I tried, so I ended up getting a Gates (K060744 / 6KP1890) belt..... I'd suggest buying both and returning the one that doesn't work for you.....
Hi! Did you actually purchase Gator belt? Also, you mentioned you installed 75.25” belt? I saw a comment, that someone used 75”. I’m about to purchase ICT, but what belt should I order? Mine is 2019 5.3L high country. Any suggestions?
This is great .Did this void warranty ?
Thank you for the video. I successfully added the ICT tensioner to my 19 Silverado 6.2 because of you. I ended up using a 75” belt. Question I have for you though is ICT website said use a GM water pump WAT311. Do you know if this is different from factory water pump. Just don’t want to burn mine up. Once again thank you for the video you’re a life saver!
Would love to know the answer to this. Only reason I haven’t done mine yet
Hi, the owner of the video mentioned 75.25” belt. Yours is 75”! Will it be any issue or differences to a tension? I’m about to pull a trigger for ICT, but don’t know what belt to order. Mine is 2019 5.3L high country.
BEAUTIFUL! The stretch belt system is a joke! This allows for so many things. Adding alternators etc. Thank you!!!
I read online that ict wants you to replace the waterpump with theirs did you ever ask them or did they say it wasn’t needed?
Thank you.
Doesn’t work on 22-23 refresh. Casting is the same minus the wholes to bolt up. Learned that the hard way today..
On the water pump/tensioner bracket - or idler pulley??
What do you mean by refresh?
Is this the same for a 2020 6.2?…just learned about the stretch belt system after the dealership quoted $200 to change a belt.
I think so nun changed on them
Hay wear you bay the kid on AutoZone
I used to swear by Chevy Trucks now they no longer care about what they build. The belt is tight enough to blow the bearings
Tell gm to stop asking ford for advice my cousins 2020 f150 has that and so his 2012
Bro, stop filming and deal with the hiccups, then resume.
There is nothing wrong with hiccups….! It was actually funny! ✌️
