To me this movie, and Awakenings are 2 of the saddest yet amazing movies I have ever seen.

"Like my old ambitious self who was so fascinated by communication" - This line really hit me and I just felt so bad and sad. Definitely made me tear up.

Alzheimer's killed my beautiful Grandmother in 2013. It took a little over 2 years for it to turn her from the sweetest woman I knew to someone who was so angry and bitter before she could no longer speak much or move. My Grandfather who is now 98 years old still says all the time that he misses his beautiful Dorothy and can't wait to join her someday. They were married 70 years when she passed away. His oldest son passed away from Pancreatic cancer the day of his beloved wife's funeral. I was 31 weeks pregnant at the time. My son had to be born 3 days after her funeral due to severe pre-eclampsia. I named him River because my grandmother lost a little son at only two weeks old to SIDS. I named him after her baby boy and my grandfather Jesse. My mother is 67 years old and is currently fighting Alzheimer's after being diagnosed 5 months ago. So this movie hit home hardcore...

My aunt cried almost all the movie when she saw it with me, because her mother deid of Alzheimer. But unlike Alice, her mother (my aunt's mother) had lost the power of speech.

At 2:56, we clearly see Sandy Oltz from close up. This movie was inspired by Sandy Oltz who has Early-Onset Alzheimer's.
