Pacino at his best. Never over the top. Every word, every inflection, was note perfect. Everything is exactly where it’s supposed to be, and delivered with a precise melody.

It is the essence of good acting. All or nothing. I'm sure there were quite a few re-takes too but I understand exactly what you expressed Tony. Very impressive. I really enjoyed this movie. It's one of my all time greats.
That, more than anything else, SELLS this scene. Pacino is TELLING the story, but the real heart and meat of the scene is watching the REACTIONS. Chris O'Donnell's takes here are gold. Obviously Pacino's acting is outstanding, pure Pacino (he just needs the Cuban accent of Scarface or the Puerto Rican flavor from Carlito's Way, lol), but it's the relationship between Slade and Charlie that is the ONLY reason this scene works, and O'Donnell's vulnerability, innocence, and awkwardness are the canvas Pacino paints this monologue on.
Pacino: Ok director, on a scale of Michael Corleone to Tony Montana, how much do you want me to Pacino? Director: Look, it's the 90s... ppl are gonna love it regardless. Just say your lines. Pacino: Welp, time to update the Pacinometer.

The fact that we are watching and listening to this in 2021 and virtually every sentence of this “speech” is someone’s favourite as is evident from the comments below is the ultimate tribute to the movie and the actor. Incredible movie and acting indeed and one of my favourite movies as well.
I think most of us had at least one episode in our lives where we wished someone like Frank Slade took a stand by us like that. Not for victory or for glory, but to know what it's like when someone steps up to defend you when you're powerless to do so on your own.
In my humble opinion....this is the greatest 7 minutes of cinematography ever recorded and Pacino may very well be the greatest actor in history. I watch this entire movie every Thanksgiving eve and it never ever grows old.
What's funny is Phillip Seymour Hoffman may very well be the greatest actor in history and his role here was obviously very minor. But yeah Pacino was great in this movie.
This is just a movie, and not a good one. At least for the majority of the leadership around us. All the wrong crossroads taken in the name of personal profit. They didn't listen to Frank, maybe they didn't even watch this movie. I wish they had listen, for me it is a great movie and a great speech.

The powers that be simply do not want young people inspired anymore. They don't want influential people, creative people that can change the status quo... People are easier to control if they all think the same way, or given a choice of two with one ridiculed and ostracized. This is why we see manufactured music, marketing, politicians, films, social media and algorithms, and most recently prescribed agendas hidden under emotive labels such as 'Equality'. Now we see one main genre of music, film and media and even principles and ways of life... Filled with constant mis conceptions and hypocrisy... Our way or the wrong way... With any free or critical thinking seen as paranoid, conspiracy theories, snowflakes or bigots... And the public support it. Sad.
