I read Alzheimer's is expected to skyrocket in the next two decades. I don't think there are any of us who don't know at least one individual afflicted by this terminal illness. While tremendously sad I am grateful for movies such as this that draw attention to a disease that is horribly underfunded and due to such straits, under-researched. It is not discriminatory. Every one of us is susceptible. Praying every day for a miracle.
Robinl1278 You can read a lot of bs , so be careful with that. Many scientist have theories that never come true. For example , in the beginning of the 1900's many scientists were convinced that by 1950 the population will starve, that there will be no more food. Quite far from what happened. So focus on the present and on what you have control upon. There are always "theories" , but so many of them never come true...
Read the work of Dr Bredesen, Dr David Perlmutter, Dr Georgia Ede and Dr Chris Palmer. Our diet is at least a huge contributing factor in dementia. Learn how Type 2 diabetes and high BMI are associated. The work on the genetic component of APOe alleles is hopeful. We don’t have a cure, but we can potentially prevent or delay onset. 🙏
We just found out my mum has Alzheimers and watching this movie to understand what she is going through.cried my ass of when they said there is no cure and NO SURVIVORS :( :(
Two years later, my mother has the same. First week in a care facility because we can't care for her as much as she needs. The mourning for someone who is still here is almost too much. Her 50 year old self wouldn't want this and there's nothing we can do.
It’s practically a mental version of ‘Titanic’ She’s sharp minded, but gradually loses memories, situational processing ability and finally loses track of anything going on as it happens. It’s a very good, but mentally tragic, quietly-horrific masterpiece.
I pray as I get older I don't get this disease. Both my Mom & my Grandmother had it. Grandma got it in her 70's but Mom got early onset when she was 55. I want to watch this movie to see what it's like on the inside looking out since I've seen it from the outside in.
I’m certainly no doctor or expert and not qualified to give advice, but I’ve been reading the alternative Alzheimer’s theory of Dr. Mary Newport. Have you heard of her? If not, Google her!
it was Friday night and i was all alone , i kept looking for something online and then i stumbled upon this movie . In the beginning it was so boring that i begun to doze-off but after a while it got my attention, it forced me to watch it, i was profoundly moved and cried my eyes out, couldn't help it ...
My Mom had it and passed in 2005 .Cause of death was described as as a bladder infection. Meaning as a person suffering from Alzhiemers ( saddest most heart wrenching disease there is) are susceptible to any non threatening disease around ten times more than a healthy person causing thier deteriorating to speed up until thier imminent death. Fortunately she only had to suffer 5 months with this awful disease. A lovely little fireball full of life fated with this terminal disease. I love you Mom!
To anyone that hasn't watched this movie or read this book, do it. Yes, it's a bit slow but in a savory sort of way. It's a fascinating and very real look at Alzheimers. In my humble opinion this is Julianne Moore's best work as an actor.
This disease is one that I would never wish upon anyone and I have not experienced it personally. I have my own neurological disease though so I understand the blanking out but it’s nothing like Alzheimer’s although it could turn into it. My aunt, her mom, had it and I know it was so bad for her
Julianne moore is so beautiful. She is my idol. I wanna to be like her. She was so beautiful when she was young and her face and her beauty don't change at all. This is so amazing and so lucky. There are so many people who were so beautiful and become unrecognizble when they were old.
My self, three children and Ex Husband went out to dinner just before Christmas. My Son had his then, fiancée there as well. Three weeks later each of my Sons called to tell me their Dad lost his balance and fell. I immediately called him, and he told me it was diagnosed as a sinus infection. It wasn’t. Exactly Fourteen months later he was gone. Taken by a Glioblastoma. It’s a unstoppable beast that robs you of everything you are in every way possible. Someone should make a movie about that.
They tell us that if we keep our brains active by learning new things that this will safe guard us against brain disease. This film teaches us that that is a waste of time as she was a brilliant intellectual who was always challenging her brain to learn new things. This film is obviously poking fun at that theory.
adanoid We’ve come a long way from the “just exercise your brain” remedy for Alz disease. See the Ted Talk that the author of Just Alice did (she is also a neuroscientist). No cure yet, but never skimp on deep sleep (for now on, my brain health trumps my career demands) and build cognitive reserves-see how this means way more than being intellectual.
This movie is wonderful, performances excellent. Subject matter is Alzheimer's but I encourage anyone who is living with "life losses" would benefit from watching the entire movie.
On the issue of Alice / Lydia and college. I'm on Lydia's side. College means ZIP unless you know why you're there. In the meantime you're wasting a lot of time and scads of money while being TOTALLY MISERABLE by doing something for someone else's reasons.
this scene should have been outdoors in a park by a bench where the vocals could have been louder, but no they had to have it in a trendy café with einsteen Malcom Y in the b.g.
The beginning is too obvious with the older daughter being critical of her siblings and the son and husband being technical people. Pick one or the other and have it flow better. 🌈 🏄🏾♂️ 🌸

I fortunately I don’t know anyone with this disease, except potentially myself
Are your sure about it

It's very sad when you didn't recognize your own kids and even your name I can't imagine how this people feel
We just found out my mum has Alzheimers and watching this movie to understand what she is going through.cried my ass of when they said there is no cure and NO SURVIVORS :( :(
I hope you're doing well even though I'm a year late, I'm praying for your family

I'm so sorry, it must be so hard for you. Remember the good times you shared.

that feeling when you become an adult and still don't know what you want to be in life.
I really wanted to hear her lecture about children and language!

Truly a remarkable performance of a real life tragedy!
why no comments its such a beautiful movie
The movie helped me understand what a family member is going through.
because it’s just a part of a conversation that doesn’t tell much or make much sense?...
This movie was so painful to watch...it hit so close home.

She's also one of the best actresses of our time
I truly hope Julianne Moore and/ or Kristen Stewart win an Oscar for thier performance. Truly brilliant and captivating!
You do realize this movie came out in 2014, right?
I missed this important film when it came to my city. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again, via UA-cam!
Kate Bosworth is so petty here and I'm loving it! Also, Kristen, you're still our 2010s darling forever!

There are always outliers. Your take is presumptuous and simplistic.

1:40 there's the start of it :_ (
My Great-Gran had Alzheimer's. It's a horribly sad disease.

This is a movie that is required for my job. Not looking forward to watching it. This is so sad
I have GOT to get this movie!
I really enjoyed this movie!
The scene when she was jogging and she stopped at the university, what was wrong with her? Was she lost or wondering why she was there
She was lost a few miles from home.
REALLY?
Alzheimers.
I only see this for Kristen stewart
Why can't I rent this anywhere? Anybody?
how ironic that her character implies to her daughter that acting is not a real job.
In the book, alice uses blackberry.
I can relate ...
Why isn't it for rent? Some of us are on a budget.
Bella of my favorite movie twilight
this scene should have been outdoors in a park by a bench where the vocals could have been louder, but no they had to have it in a trendy café with einsteen Malcom Y in the b.g.

She is so much better in this film than in twilight
