When I was a kid my father taught me that most raccoons suffer from a serious lead deficiency. The only remedy was to offer a hot lead injection. Seemed to work well for us. 😊
I like your raccoon "relocation" method! When you first said RELOCATION I thought "NO WAY!" So many times I hear of people relocating trapped raccoons that have been causing problems. To "relocate" them only creates problems for people living near. YOUR method of "relocation" is the PROPER WAY TO TAKE CARE OF THAT PROBLEM! Good job!
Busy day, kudos to Hilarie for raccoon trapping, I always enjoy watching the daily chores and interactions with the animals I love the belly aching from the cows, reminds me of my younger days with Grandpa Love the field work, clipping and bailing. I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING. Thanks so much
Glad to see you back. Sorry about the raccoon problem. My partner Rose’s 7 year old grandson is with us while his parents are out in Nebraska with another son. He really got into today’s video and your explanations of farming and livestock raising. I explained to him that everything he likes to eat comes from farming. He asked multiple questions about the pigs, chickens and Dexters. Hope you, Hillary and family have a great week.
In total agreement with you on clipping Pete. The dry spell zapped a lot of nutritional value out of the grass. I always enjoy watching Hilarie sort cattle. She's a natural! Also, while I thanked you for taking us along on R.P.R. '23, I failed to tip my cap to your crew who maintained the farm in your absence. Great job guys, and THANK YOU!!!
Great insight on summertime pasture factors…the “TOO” and the “NOT TOO” bail and the reasons why is purely educational and helps explain those intricacies that we just Take for Granted.
Sorry I have been misspelling Hilarie's name. Always interesting to see the livestock on the farm. Like people, they all have their little quirky personalities. Thanks for another great video Pete.
I've trapped 5 coons so far at my chicken pen. They come after dark and reach through the fencing to grab pellets laying on the ground. I use Conibear traps in front of a 5 gallon bucket laying on its side. I bait the back of the bucket with corn and sprinkle a bit in front of the trap. They can't resist reaching into the bucket. Trap gets them every time.
Love when you two interact with your animals. It shows you love what you do! Question: How many chickens do you put in each grazing box? You do a great job keeping them safe and healthy. Good work!
😂😂😂😂 ok, you got me with the "relocation of the raccoon"!!! I was just saying...."I can't believe they wouldn't come back"..... Then you mentioned the 22. 😂😂😂😅😅
That is so funny Pete about the injection with the 22 your two little piglets are growing well I will have 2 litters of piglets coming next month I can't wait I love playing with them I have also got some sheep due to give birth as well so next month is going to be a busy time
Pete, Since growing up with Holstein cattle on our dairy farm, the popularity of Dexter Cattle is well founded...the first thing I notice is that the size is so much easier to handle...we too did about 3-5 cows a year to freezer camp...the Dexter breed is good looking, easily bred and no drama calving for a high quality return for the farm...your bulls are calm and pen mates getting along so well...Cheers from Maine.
Nice, my family also has chickens (not for meat). They are urban chickens and live the great life as our pets. One is nearly 9 years old and still gives us an egg every so often.
All your thinking/logic of your fields and cutting, mulching and regrowth is appreciated, and the cows certainly thrive! They love 'telling you all about it' 😂😂 I chuckle at their mooing! Your channel is breath of fresh air for me all the way from S. Calif. (born & raised in Ohio). Thank You for sharing ~!
good job hillary :) my son caught and rehomed 13 skunks this year. they never bothered our girls, but they were definitely robbing the eggs. welcome home pete :)
I can smell them burgers from here!. and while you were Cauling, the cows I spotted Rusty, I remember when he was born and the week following how you tried to get him to come over and say Hi. (Relucktantly!) and ok on the Hay fields, we have one next to the house here that the farm up the road cuts for what ever they can get off it. but they don't take the whole field the top half is always soaking wet and most times the equipment gets stuck etc. so they just hay the bottom half. and its gone to seed long time ago actually. so if they do take it , it will go for beefer stock etc. fillin lunches. great to have to have you back Pete. as always a great video have a good day!. ECF
I caught 42 around my place 3 years bacl, 32 the next year, and 21 last year, I quit seeing tracks last year, and have not trapped this year. I use the same method of relocation that you do. It feeds the hungry vultures. I think my problem is the lake behind my property that as a stream that feeds into it. The subdivision around the lake has people that feed feral cats and that is the main attraction to racoons, catfood is very attractive odor wise to racoons. The neighbors did not haave a clue about the racoons and the cat food attraction.
Pete and Hillary - y’all are the best! I subscribe to around 35 homesteading and gardening channels but have narrowed my viewing down to around 5. Your channel is number one in my book! Yep! Oh, and Roll Tide!
My wife and I really like your videos. We especially admire how you just left one business and jumped into farming full time. That took courage. Now we like how you are figuring out what works best and are willing to tweak and change things so it works better for you both. Thanks for the hours of entertainment.
I have been a loyal watcher for a very long time. I have absolutely no criticisms or advice to give you. I grew up on a dairy farm and early on my dad also had pigs and chickens. I doubt most of your viewers have any idea how much work you do. I also admire your ability to be judged and keep a positive attitude. On an other note I love your tractor restorations. We had John Deere, Ford and MM. our neighbor had IH and I always loved the way they sounded. I also thought the Fast Hitch was a great idea!!! Sincerely LH
I enjoyed today's discussion of the grass and pasture, I have one small patch of clover in my lawn, I'm hoping it will spread in case Patty ever travels to my city. 🐂
Just took in my first grass fed belted Galloways to butcher. Dressed at 500 lbs. Ready to try the meat. Thanks for the inspiration to go grass fed Pete.
Cattle mayhem, well maybe. I look at this and see Cattle Psy-Ops 101. Just harnessing their natural tendencies and curiosity, that's being a cattlemen and cattlelady. Love it!
Peter, I do the same as you with my small .25 acre yard for grass clippings. The grass is in it's second seeding because of the dry weather. and I don't want to save these clippings for mulch for the garden sooo,...I clip high to drop the seeding grass and then let the grass grow till I can have clippings for garden mulch or humus. Boy the cows were sure noisy on your video. Hunger is a great motivator. I enjoy watching you and Hilary a couple times a week.
I remember when you were "collecting" T-shirts. I was going to send you some but I saw you wearing everyone I would have sent, Colorado School of Mines, where I went; Vanderbilt, where my wife went; Washington, where my son went; and Hawaii, where we live now. Just some memories. No raccoons here, but we do have nasty mongoose. Love your channel!
Hey Pete and Hilary ! Glad Pete's home sweet home safe and sound ! Animals all look great ! Love your immunization of lead for the varmits ! You're funny ! 🤣
"Your angry wife...", "injecting raccoons...", almost losing your cap on a tree limb... belly-aching at the cows as they belly-ache at you the whole time you're pampering them... you're so fun. And I'm so glad you're finally back home, too. :))
Hey Pete, for some reason my UA-cam reset all my “watched” videos. I’ve been rewatching your videos from the beginning. It’s been a wonderful way to spend my quiet time!
Dry as a bone in Chicago area these days, glad to see you got some rain. Ohio State, Penn State, and then Michigan...)) The kids sure looked happy to see you at the Red Power show.
Boy, oh boy! The level of complaint noise is amazing. In your older videos you had 2 or 3 really professional complainers. Now it's 3/4 of the herd and all the young'uns. Those juniors sure learned the perpetual song of discontent. They now scream of starvation! Look---skin and bones "Mr. Farmer"!
One year I trapped 11 'coons and 'possums out of my sweet corn patch... and still lost every ear. No one hunts or traps them for fur anymore. And, as you noted, perfect timing on the clipping- plenty of rain on the way.
Pete, Hilary I like the way you deal with the cows and all your animals for that matter. Reducing the stress and the way you do it I admire. It really has such an “unseen” negative effect but you guys “get it”. Love everything about your channel and appreciate all the explanations.
Hope you had a great time in Nebraska. Nice to see you made it back safe to hear Patty's complaints. Have a great day and keep the awesome videos coming.
My new adventure has begun. I wonder what critters I'll have to deal with? When I was younger I knew exactly where I left my tools. Now, not so much. lol I like all the McCormick choices. Thanks for sharing!
Pete I raised a baby Raccoon named Little Miss. Best summer playing with her me and my wife just loved it. She still comes by some nights and gets a snack . Having said that I totally understand you doing what you have to do to protect your lively hood. Given the same situation I would have to do the same.
My wife and I really enjoy your channel. We are in our 50s and have recently purchased a small 11 acre farm. Hoping to raise a veg garden and 1 or 2 beef cattle. Thank you for your expertise and time you sacrifice making the videos. Hope to meet you one day.
Yep, those cows gave you an ear full for abandoning them like you did. You upset their routine of having someone to complain to. LOL But I'm glad you went to the show and shared it with us. Let the summer begin!!
“We relocate it to the back woods but only after it gets an injection from the 22.” 🤣 I love it!
😂
😂
A 22 injection is very economical, effective, and fast-acting.
Start making some coon skin hat's and sell them at the market. It came from the farm
😂
I'm glad you care enough about the raccoons to give them their immunization against all future problems.
😂😂😂😂😂
😊
When I was a kid my father taught me that most raccoons suffer from a serious lead deficiency. The only remedy was to offer a hot lead injection. Seemed to work well for us. 😊
😂 yep, makes sense to me!
I like your raccoon "relocation" method!
When you first said RELOCATION I thought "NO WAY!"

To "relocate" them only creates problems for people living near.
YOUR method of "relocation" is the PROPER WAY TO TAKE CARE OF THAT PROBLEM!
Good job!
Glad to hear you're giving the proper injection to those raccoons before relocating them, lol
Lol I laughed at that comment one too…
Pete, I am a long time subscriber and a very seldom commenter but I need to say your channel continues to get better and better!! Carry on. . . .
Hillary the Mighty Raccoon Hunter! Love the video, and those burgers sure look good.
The cattle mooing never gets old, at least not for me. Thanks for the upload, Pete. Y'all have a great day!!
Nice day, burgers look great, cows are happy, coons are injected, two little pigs adorable. Ty for all. ❤😊🏁🤠
Busy day, kudos to Hilarie for raccoon trapping, I always enjoy watching the daily chores and interactions with the animals
I love the belly aching from the cows, reminds me of my younger days with Grandpa
Love the field work, clipping and bailing.
I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING. Thanks so much
Hope you enjoyed your time away from the farm, but I’m glad you’re back 😂. Thanks for all the content!

WOW! Your livestock is really voicetress on this video, LOL
"Injection from a 22 rifle" ... I'm now cleaning my monitors from the spay🤣
Who doesn't love Aerial views of your farm. Glad to see so many trees too.
“We relocate it to the back woods but only after it gets an injection from the 22.” MADE MY DAY!🤣🤣
Good video, Pete. I like the way you medicate raccoon.
Your care and concern for treating farm animals with dignity is obvious and it shows . Thank you
In total agreement with you on clipping Pete. The dry spell zapped a lot of nutritional value out of the grass. I always enjoy watching Hilarie sort cattle. She's a natural! Looks like about 45-60 from just veiw

Funny to see you marking your cows with Rust proof paint. Nobody wants a rusting cow on the place😊😅..
Great job Peter, I think you should get rid of the pigs and constraining on calf's and Chicks 👍🏻🥃
Loved the injection from the .22 prior to the relocate, we use to call it "lead poisoning".
Thank you for wearing your Ohio State tee shirt on first day of summer. Love your videos and GO BUCKS.
Thank you again Pete, for another great video.
It's just amazing how you went from being an Architect to farming!
You were quite the star at the tractor show.
I missed your "reports from home", but I'm sure the time off was really good for you- so glad to see you both again! :)

Good morning Pete! Glad to see you back at the farm. Loved the Red Power Roundup videos. Everyone has cut hay here for a second cutting this week.
good job hillary :) my son caught and rehomed 13 skunks this year. they never bothered our girls, but they were definitely robbing the eggs. welcome home pete :)

Hillary is the most pleasant looking "angry" wife I've ever seen. LOL. Great video, as usual.
My husband & I love watching your videos! 😊
Pete and Hillary - y’all are the best! I subscribe to around 35 homesteading and gardening channels but have narrowed my viewing down to around 5. Your channel is number one in my book! Yep! Oh, and Roll Tide!
Haha. Lol. Relocated to the woods down back but only after they get an injection from the 22 rifle! I love it!
Your shirts are giving you away. 😁
So funny the cows give their two cents on everything.
a 22 injection...hahaha I love your channel - thank you, Pete & Hillary

“We relocate after an injection form the .22 rifle” 👊🏻. That’s awesome!!
Lost 20 broilers this week to predator. I feel your pain
Pete thanks for the laugh and the trip down memory lane made me think of my grandpa and his application of .22 injections.
Some wit, lot's of education, overall another great video. Thanks Pete and Hillary. Love this channel.
Just took in my first grass fed belted Galloways to butcher. Dressed at 500 lbs. Ready to try the meat. Thanks for the inspiration to go grass fed Pete.
Your Videos are ALWAYS interesting, Thanks Pete and Hillary 🤠

Glad your back home. I missed the farm videos.
I sure seems that you may have enjoyed the short time away from the Farm! It's really good having you back on the farm.
I really like how you handle your animals. As little stress as possible.
Welcome back Mr. Pete. That .22 ccs injection is the only way to keep the raccoons from coming back.
That one cow got its bell rung from that side kick ! 😮😂
What a GREAT LIFE You have, So wonderful! Thank you for sharing it with us.
I like how the tractors look parked in the new cow area😂😂😂
Peter, I do the same as you with my small .25 acre yard for grass clippings. Wonderful to have a husband that cooks dinner on the grill!
I like the lady wranglers t shirt, almost in my neighborhood. Welcome home Pete!
Red Power Roundup was fun, but it’s great to have you back on the farm Pete. Welcome home.
