I've been an automotive mechanic for 40ish years, and they did an IMPRESSIVE job on getting that engine out(not a motor!).
Nothing runs like a DEERE until it takes a shot straight to the heart !! Then it’s dead!!
Quite impressive doing a complete engine change in the field Reckon that’s what you call field dressing a DEERE in the field
That’s a nice mower love the idea of the fan to blow debris off
Ive seen several engines pulled on farms. Not usually in a field like that but in cold storage several times. Anytime there is a motor recall on them it happens. Every 10 years or so.
Just wow! I've seen a few messed up motors. But this is the top of the heap! Holy cow!
Bednar builds nice equipment. Not only mowers. Also big field cultivators and much more.
The hole in the engine block was crazy 😮
You guys produce Awesome Videos I wish sometimes they were a little longer. Keep on keeping you guys are Great !!!!
Two thumbs up to the mechanic.
Brody sure does a good job breaking things
dugo a natural born salesman, Let me say dugo He is one of those guys that could sell ice cubes to the eskimos And His direction of the camera angle was genius
Mechanic Justin looks like Brodys long lost brother
Let’s go back in time and see how Dougo was uncomfortable with video, now he is a DIRECTOR! 😅
Amy has really brought Dougo around.
You are working with a great John Deere dealership n technicians,Service is Key.
Good Job Chet 👏🏻 on harvesting the beans 🫘
Awesome video Chet and Larson farms!!!
The blue heat mark on the shiny crank says it lacked lube/and or oil clearance on that rod journal, and it seized to the crank.
Thumbs up for mr Justin. He did an awsome job.
This was like watching Apollo13, one of my favorite movies.
You have a combine engine hanging in the air in the field and finger prints on the truck are bothersome. Now that is humorous!
Re: mulching worms. Back in the day cotton was cut/shredded after harvest to prevent bollworms from over wintering in the stalks. In fact in Texas there used to be date that had to be done by, said date depending on distance from Mexico border.
I sure hope that engine failure is covered under the warranty! You know what is even scarier? That John Deere mechanic looks like he gets a lot of practice changing out motors in the field! The hole that piston rod left in the side of the engine block was big enough to drive a small truck through!
I honestly feel sorry for Brody. He took that engine malfunction personally.
I was just glad to see in the last video when it happened, that Chet didn't say, "You broke it Brody!"
Excellent content. Thanks, guys.
Awesome how that blowing debris off the mower! The pic of the engine was much worse than I expected ……and doing the swap in the field……missed a chance to use the new rig in the shop
Would have been nice in the shop, but the combine can't run, so it would not be hard to get it back to the shop no?
Deere engine with a hole in it 😂😂😂 no shock .,bad luck tho boys ,you don't need that at harvest .best of luck ,.the best farming channel on u tube .
we have had our fair share of combine breakdowns. we have snapped both of our front axels and one of the rear wheel bearings went out. you guys are crushing it.
I had a john deer 1518 batwing that had what they called a shredding kit. 4 blades under each wing with two blades above the lower blades. They had a similar ring around which helped distribute corn fodder and grass. A very solid machine.
I love these videos especially when you are combining I wish I could be there
Eric at I Do Cars need that engine for a video. If you’re gonna blow it up, blow it up all the way 😂
Chet your content - - - feeds the soul. Never stop moving - it's a rule. I live in portland not that many nice people here any more - time well spent here.
Knock knock, who’s there ?
Piston no1 lol
Good video good to see y'all
Hi Im from czechia, in company where i have par time job we have 4 Bednar mulchers and other equipment from bednar . Bednar Mulcher we have at 6 meters ( 20FT ) and we pull this with John Deer 6830 or 6930 .
Probably won't end up on the wall of shame, guess Deere wants it back😂😂
Should frame a picture of it for the wall
@@stevencraderYeah or the rod
I don’t think that is going to hang on wall of shame buy could put a picture of it on wall of shame. Things happen and Brody fills it.
I bet Deere wants that back
Well, it appears something failed in the oil System
You can see the journal on the crankshaft is black. That's an indication. It didn't have enough oil flowing to the bearing.
It eventually got so hot, it ceased. On the crankshaft, I mean the connecting rod baring seized on the crankshaft. And broke the rod and out the side of the block. It went actually looks like 2 rods broke either something wasn't installed, right or John Deere has a problem that they better figure out fast or they're gonna have a lot more motors doing this.
You really crushed it again! Keep being awesome.
Mow for the Iowa DOT biggest rock I hit was a 5 finger bowling ball.
And the thing is this will happen to people and multiples big issues and won’t look to change. We’ve been John Deere guys forever. Bought a claas to upgrade our 9500 and our smaller class 750 is out performing our neighbors higher hp s680. Just proves how well a class performs. I don’t know there losses but we were throwing out .1 bushels out the rotor of barley. I wonder what those deeres do I bet a lot more
Brodie was just warming up when he trash the mower …….. bring on the combine! 🧨💥🧨💥🧨💥🧨💥
Chet and Brody in Ranger are ready for Cboys wreckless golfing videos the way they were hitting the ruts
Good old John Deere, still making exploding engines. Had the same thing happen to a John Deere combine back in the early 1970s. BOOM
That’s one bill I’d hate to pay. Will definitely find out how good/bad PowerGuard is.
It’s a lease.
See if Eric with utube, I do cars, may want it!!! I'm sure Deere will want to show off their customer service since there are so many subscribers of Larson Farms.
Czech machine is great.!!! Love my country.
If it has an external oil cooler and lines, I would make sure they change those so they don’t pump metal debris into the new engine.
I do believe the engine might need an oil change and filter. 😢
Great dealer for fast service.
Amazing how a small engine can produce over 250 hp for thousands of hrs. A quart of fuel every minute! When my combine lost its couple plate to the drives it cost $8,000. $400 to get it to the shop. In the field is a job to take out the engine!
18:00 the first step out of that door is going to be a doozy! Not sure that step height meets code 🤣
Just here to see what the internet know it all’s tell a highly successful multi generational farm what the need to do.
@6:10 that's quite the inspection port! 🤣
As a retired Deere employee I hope you are being well taken care of.
A a piston was loose and went through the engine that is what it looks like to me wow.Glad is had a lot of covered parts around it. If not you would have parts all over the field.
Connection rod or cap came lose. Piston was still in the cylinder.
That as they say is a window into how a combustion engine works when it craps the bed but this one was a sliding door.
it will buff out
❤ from Norway
correct me if i am wrong, i read somewhere that waterhemp is the future of making paper instead of trees
So we ask all guys to not touch our trailers while we dump. We ask nicely. We used to put small decal on our trailer. Bang on my trailer i bang on your head.
Great content.
🥳Czech Republic mentioned 🍻
Just find the pieces and JB Weld'r back together!
i miss seeing toby
so black beans - splits and bad colors - where downstream does someone separate all those out of the beans intended for human consumption, and what do they do with them - do they just get turned into milled up animal feed for hogs/chickens/cattle ? When you plant cover crop, is there an effort to do contouring to counter wind directions or do you just plant them same paths as beans ?
With the mower deck, what if dribbled some pre emergance into what it is cutting so when mulch everything the seeds are getting a dose
Carnage at its best !! Good work John Deere !!
Anybody else audibly gasp when you saw the block of that engine?😮
Brody should not take the engine failure personally…. Cheer up
@Larson Farms Dougo the original influencer. The Flag, the flag Dougo!!!!!!
What is wrong with an in Europe developed and produced piece of equipment? Look at the Nexat, recently shown by "Laura farms", developed and produced in Germany which is an universal "tractor" with all kinds of attachments for disking, planting, harvesting etc and a floating cabine. As an 18 row combine, the harvesting head stays attached during transport and its wheels rotate 90 degrees to drive length wise over a road to the next field. For an all in price of around $2,7M you get the tractor with various attachments so you can use it all year round and not only during a view weeks of harvesting.
Do black beans have to go right to plant or do they go in one of the bins?
The John Deere cotton pickers do something similar due to the cam shaft gear failing
Chet! What Oakleys are you wearing??
MOTOR= An electrically driven device.
go brody
Should bring a power washer and a tank full of water and wash the combine all off before they put the engine back in it lol
Is the engine warrantied
Yes
Shoulda bought a Case. What has been seen cannot be unseen, Chet.
Wow that was crazy the hole in the engine it must have had an flaw in the engine block
No flaw just what happens when a rod or rod cap lets go.
Interesting as usual. It is my understanding that Erik is a cousin and not sure how Brody relates?
It would probably be a good idea to change that big main rotor drive belt cause it has oil all over it I’m sure and you don’t want it slipping. A slipping main drive belt makes the combine capacity terrible. Probably all the belts should be changed for that matter. Unless they can be removed and cleaned properly.
Thanks captain obvious
@@gregjames5070 I’m glad you are so smart jsckass.
I came imagine how much power washing will be needed to get that thing clean. 😂
13:19 the not picking of handprints on the trailer is a little overthinking. But to each their own I suppose. 😂 “ yea you’re an excellent worker putting in 70+ hrs a week but the handprints on the trailer need to stop lol.
That mower looks expensive to maintain!
Is the engine still under warranty?
Remember all the blow by this thing had. It was junk when they got it
I don't remember but obviously there was a PROBLEM!!!!
That was big wheels not this one.
Hanging in the air the engine looked kinda tiny compared to the combine.
BOOM !!!!!!
I sure hope that the other combine doesn't have the same engine. I also hope that john deere will stand behind that engine replacement. take an old chemical tote full of water and a pressure washer and generator to clean it up the engine bay
Looks like someone forgot to torque the bolts on the rod caps, there doesn't seem to be much evidence shown of the location of the rod cap.
Think Deere realized the power of UA-cam…and got the motor quick.
Eh, I don’t think that has much to do with it but I understand why you would say it.
I'd be more nervous that they have them laying around.
@@seanstewart4221 Why all they had to do was pull one from the factory that builds the combine. They are only 9 hours away from John Deere factory In Iowa.
@@seanstewart4221
I said exactly that to myself.
@@johnunsicker7440 They would never pull one from the factory. It's gonna be a reman engine and they just go through there local dealer's parts department
Wonder if they would part that motor out or just melt the whole thing down
External combustion engine! Sorry yall have to deal with this. No matter how much warranty or insurance it's still expensive.
Yeah if it was a farmer that wasn’t on UA-cam. That engine would have not been in so fast . Probably Larsons are probably getting a deal too
You should replace the “T” in your username with an “A”.
It is a warranty job. A good dealer will take care of his clients no matter if they are on UA-cam or not.
@@johnunsicker7440 that’s a f ing lie . Deere went woke f them
Small hole just glue it back together. Need to logo up those fuel tanks.
J-B weld
Motor? When did they start putting electric motors into the combines? Interesting
Now youre wrong. Het is een diesel moter!
Motor is another word used instead of engine. Anyone with half a brain knows this.
If you had a Modern 15’ or 20’ galvanized mower you wouldn’t need that expensive fan because the deck don’t rust I’ve had one for at least 20 years and the deck does not have any holes or even rust spots on it and it’s never spent a day inside
I see there’s a lot of galvanized on the cutter and that’s more designed for mulching
Look away from the fingerprints Chet, look away!
I really would like the totally cost of the motor and labor?
Pretty close to $100,000. Probably more.
What has been burdened, will be undone
Hey guys just a FYI. Anyone who specializes on a specific brand is a technician not a mechanic. I’m a dodge Ram technician. I hate being called a mechanic. With all the schooling I have.
Ok Yah Grease Monkey!!!! 😀😀😀
John Deere see-through Diesel energy efficient. 👍
Got a brush mower for my skid steer that will cut 4" willows and small poplars. Handy as heck vs needing to take the tractor out, plus you can lift and drop as needed
Already seen it on tiktok
