American student takes Korea's toughest Suneung exam | CSAT Vlog

- November 18 was the most important day for Korean high school seniors this year. Around half a million students took Suneung (CSAT) or the national college entrance exam that some believe could determine the students’ futures. We asked Daniel, an American born and raised in Korea taking the exam all in Korean this year, to vlog his CSAT experience.

Is it hard for international students who wanna study medical student
Because I Wanna study their as medical student after I finish my high school please reply because I wanna confirm all that the information because apply to Korea University
The fact that the whole city goes silent for the students, police escorting students just shows how crucial a single exam is. That's next level pressure...
we have the same thing in JORDAN but our exams done in 1_2 weeks
while his ethnicity/blood or background might be american, he was born and raised in korea, so he should have the same level of education and prep as the other students. best of luck to all of the students.
Correct , in thailand it's the same half thai who are educated in thailand and go to thai local schools speaking and writing are the same level as the locals lol. Same as an asian growing up abroad and going to foreign schools since they are young will have the same level . I am of asian background grew up in France and educated there so yes my level is the same as those french people lol.

Oh no, I just recently learned that it was an 8 hour exam. For female students to be on that time of the month, using full brain power and sitting for so long possibly in pain, I applaud you that its over. Hoping the best for all the students, remember it's not the end of the world if you fail an exam

The English part was hard, speaking English and taking a test on English are so different. Surviving an eight hour test, fighting!

@@Mikadiaries I don't know what you mean, but all native speakers I met said the English test is easy for them and can be done in 1/3 of the time. You can try doing a language test in your own language and see what I mean.

@@ponalvsiki2254 Well, i personally haven’t gotten a full mark in any of the tests i’ve taken in my own language. Since my language is pretty hard, even for some natives.

I know this test is so important for their future, but if they get bad scores it's not a drama. There will always be opportunities for doing good things in their life and it will not be a single test that will decide their own life

When I was in India giving extrance exam, they didn't have this facilities, it's good to see they care about students, even though we had police outside exam centre it didn't make any much difference, in Korea the police is escorting students who are running late and students are guided and motivated all through the exam. It must be tiring to sit for 8hrs i hope in future the exam becomes shorter for Korean students. The fact that they get to enjoy after exams with the test ID though 😭. Fighting !
India has also a toughest exam, but this exam is for Civil services .

I've seen some of the older questions for the English exam, and it isn't even English!!! I was so confused. Just for a bit of reference, I teach Composition (English Writing) at the college level.
Exactly it's like they just plaster any words that means the same thing and use it without viewing the context or how it should be used.
I read one comment from a Korean student saying that it’s The type of English used in scientific papers. They test them on that because in uni that’s the kind of English they’re the most likely to come across

Is acceptable. But having all three exams on one day is inhuman. Hope the government gets some sense and has these exams on three days
I have a very similar exam coming up in 6 months... What I fear the most is if i cant get the enough points i will have to try next year for my dream job.. If only I was born in West.

8 hours exam.... at least the good thing is it's over in a day. in australia we have exams spread out across the whole year which all contribute to our final mark. the final exams are spread out across 4 weeks. so slow

I honestly forgot that CAST was near. I literally forgot to even wish my Korean ARMY friends 🥺But when BTS members wished and send encouraging msg for the students, I felt so happy. And I wished my friends too 💜and they were so happy and proud as ARMY who had encouraging wishes from BTS 💜

8 hours ?? wow nightmare... My exams took two days. The first day lasted about 2 hours and 15 minutes. The second day lastes about 3 hours. I remember that 3 hours of hell. My back , neck and eyes were dead. But 8 hours ??? I would probably faint

Why is Daniel's English like that?
Probably because he's been in Korea longer than in America.
Su idioma principal es el coreano, vivió ahí toda su vida. Es americano solo de nacionalidad. Prácticamente es coreano

This has nothing to do with the testing.......but, I'm a little confused. It says he's American but he doesn't sound American. He has a strong accent, but it's not an American accent and speaks slowly? If that makes sense? As if it's not his native language. Maybe he's from Latin America🤔
