@@cheesecake7274 I'm a Korean student living in the US. I agree that the time to solve the problem is too short. In my opinion, it is to make a judgment among students. I think Korea has the highest competition rate for universities. In the US, good and famous universities, like Harvard Univ., are located in many other states. However, in Korea, most of them are in Seoul, which is the capital city of Korea. Many students think only the universities in Seoul have worthy of pride, and also many teachers and parents want students to attend there. However, there are a few universities but there are so many students who want to attend there. So, most of the students study really really hard to go to the universities in Seoul. 3:26
That's how good Korean lunches are. I doubt many students will say that in the US. My kids seen Korean lunches and were mad that they didn't have something like that for their school lunch.

Getting to see the lads experience what it's like to learn English as a Korean student was so interesting, especially the techniques that they use for answering difficult questions so quickly.
Could you please tell me why the questions are so confusing and long-winded? It seems like they wouldn't be too hard if they were just worded more concisely.

The "less people" vs "fewer people" question (06:05) is fascinating. Even the headmaster got it wrong (lol). But is it really wrong? By the traditional rules of grammar, "fewer" is correct, but usage changes over time. In 2022, many, many native speakers actually say "less."
To most native speakers it probably doesn't really matter. In german it's similar, we use quite a lot of incorrect grammar in daily life. Most people will make an effort to correct this for important stuff like theses, but since you're so used to not caring about it it can be quite hard to spot and correct the errors. So be careful when learning other languages from native speakers. Imho it's better to learn it properly and "screw it up" later to fit in. I'm struggling with the correct placement of commas in multi-clause sentences for example, when texting we leave most of them out. But I don't think all those little mistakes I make become correct just because I use that form 90% of the time
@@athmaid Commas can be tricky, especially because you see them used in so many different ways. I've been saddened by the seeming death of the "Oxford comma" in lists: used to be (and should be) "1, 2, and 3" but many now use "1, 2 and 3". To me, that means that 2 and 3 are grouped together. Like a menu listing "burgers, fish and chips, and chili". Multi-clauses are a whole nother can of worms. I usually go with "Main clause, sub clause, back to main clause, adendum clause." Like, place commas wherever you're inserting additional/optional information into an otherwise complete sentence. What complicates things more, and messes me up, is the usage of semicolons. My thinking is that they take two semi-complete sentences and mash them together into a single, more complete sentence.
That's a thing I got to learn when taking an English course. My teacher would say that if we ever visit the UK, we would go mad from hearing so many mistakes XD But that applies to every language in my opinion. For us Portuguese, our language has a lot of rules that we often forget about

This is so cute, with the headmaster being empathetic and just seeing that the interaction between the students were a better thing compared to being rigid and strict, to the Korean students being so welcoming and wanting to help out and the English kids wanting to learn and connect. This is a heartwarming video but idk why it made me smile as much as it did. Maybe 'cause it's so human, you know? & it shows a version of school very much like what I was used to growing up, just more peaceful. It seems more common in the West or the more prestigious schools or schools where kids didn't perform so well academically in the East that bullying happens a lot more. The editing is ace too, as always.
These episodes really don't last long enough, I'd be more than happy watching 30+ minutes of these at a time. I always have a huge smile on my face by the end and it makes me want to visit Korea even more!
This is a great way to show the difference of culture, and the way they interact with each other is wonderful, and already breaking the ice. Can't wait for next week!

This just keeps getting better and better with each episode. Absolutely incredible seeing their school cultures collide like this. And a bonus seeing how their friendship instantly blossoms with the korean students!
this channel never disappoint. love that exposure to different cultures and now the school systems. yes Korean school systems and exams are next NEXT level. they are SO competitive which doesn't necessarily gives good impact to students because many students found it difficult to survive their school /exams. but I found it interesting because their level in learning same language (English) are so different and may give the boys new experience and exposure. I just hope all school systems, parents, teachers, stop giving hard time to students because the level of intelligence of one student doesn't solely relied on their paper exams. It's a learning process for all of them. it's always a first time for all of them. instead give them supports and be the one who they can relied to when things doesn't works out as what they expected.
It was so fun to see the students all interacting together. I think the teacher did a great job of teaching in such a silly chaotic atmosphere. I think they all learned something, had a lot of fun and made new friends. This was such a joy to watch. I can't wait to see the next video!

What is the reason for the rush? In my country, we do a lot of close reading of scientific texts to prepare for university. The more time to read, the better the understanding of the text will be. Why so little time to read?

Armand appreciating the teacher, the students and the way they learn a 2nd language is just so pure that citing an example that you won’t see in England someone who will be conversing in French that well, too. He sees the work done by Koreans in learning and it’s just wonderful.

But I don't think all those little mistakes I make become correct just because I use that form 90% of the time
But sometimes the language just moves on,@@athmaid. I predict that 'fewer' will simply disappear in the coming decades.
@@jiminhart maybe in colloquial conversation yeah, but in general? I doubt it, too many people care about getting it "right"
@@athmaid Commas can be tricky, especially because you see them used in so many different ways.
My teacher would say that if we ever visit the UK, we would go mad from hearing so many mistakes XD
But that applies to every language in my opinion. For us Portuguese, our language has a lot of rules that we often forget about
I wish for this series to never end 😩❤️

Possibly my FAVOURITE episode out of this British Highschoolers go to Korea series!! It's magical seeing the British and Korean highschoolers befriend each other, interact, have fun, laugh, help each other, struggle together XD and celebrate with one another! This honestly is the HIGHLIGHT and DIAMOND of the entire trip. REQUEST: Can we have the korean highschoolers AND the korean english teacher share their personal thoughts on how they felt meeting the British Highschoolers?? WE NEED THAT!!!! Or maybe even, those Korean highschoolers and teacher REACT to these episodes of them meeting the british highschoolers??
This is so cute, with the headmaster being empathetic and just seeing that the interaction between the students were a better thing compared to being rigid and strict, to the Korean students being so welcoming and wanting to help out and the English kids wanting to learn and connect. This is a heartwarming video but idk why it made me smile as much as it did. Maybe 'cause it's so human, you know? & it shows a version of school very much like what I was used to growing up, just more peaceful. It seems more common in the West or the more prestigious schools or schools where kids didn't perform so well academically in the East that bullying happens a lot more.
The editing is ace too, as always.

this channel never disappoint. love that exposure to different cultures and now the school systems.
yes Korean school systems and exams are next NEXT level. they are SO competitive which doesn't necessarily gives good impact to students because many students found it difficult to survive their school /exams. but I found it interesting because their level in learning same language (English) are so different and may give the boys new experience and exposure.
