I'm 56 and this video had me jumping off my chair too. This could pretty much be the most thorough tutorial on the internet EVER! He doesn't just start telling you how to recreate something by following his steps-by-steps actions - he explains, not just the how's but the why's of everything, the reasoning behind the actions. It's like when you learn a language, it's not all about repetition, but more about how and why vowels are formed and sounds pronounced, and once you got that, you are all good to go and fly on your own! Thats what this guy does. This is an amazing talent, to be able to convey such clarity of thought on such cumbersome topic. SUBSCRIBED!!

Lol after a year of wresting with UV maps, trying to drop in image textures and then distort UV maps to fit the image all within blender, I now see the intended workflow. Holy shit, this is so much better than what I was doing. Pick up 3D modeling as a hobby during covid, using only youtube to learn, its been great and awful. I cried, I laughed, I sweat and bled. Its only been through truly excellent tutorials like this that have propelled me further.
10 out of 10 Tutorial. Really setting the bar with your instruction style.You could probably teach me calculus and thats saying a lot.

You are an amazing teacher, seriously. Out of all the UV mapping tutorials I've seen, this is the most clear, step by step, explanation of everything. Especially the seams part, that's what I've been stuck for a long-ass time. I was so confused why the UV map looks like this 5:20 when I tried it myself. The cereal box explanation helps a lot. Just overall 10/10, exactly what I was looking for.

Wonderful. I've watched quite a few UV mapping tutorials, but this one finally made it stick. Really appreciated the use of the cereal box, stretching and fitting, and using the grid to validate that scaling was set up correctly.
OMG, you must be a professional teacher. you are soo good. i was actually looking for a 10 minutes tutorial (even a newer 2023), but you are really good. i have adhd and normally i would skip many parts or speed up the tutorial. but not here. 35 minutes tutorial and i didnt have a patience problem. you are GOOD!!!

Great example. It took something as simple as the basic Blender cube and became a complete demonstration of so many useful different things that can be done in UV, and the details that the user needs to keep in mind during the process. Very comprehensive and easy to follow. This one goes directly to my reference bookmarks for Blender.

FACEPALM. I'd been struggling to figure out how to put the same texture on all the faces (and update changes on all, etc) and wasn't sure I could simply put them on top of each other. Turned out it was the simplest fix. Delete UV, unwrap. Solved. Perfectly aligned. Thanks!

Great tutorial. I've been loading the image into the UV editor and adjust the geometry to suit the pic. Gonna try this way round and weigh up the pros & cons.

Nice tutorial. You could also load up the frootloops box image into blender and then arrange the object’s faces on the uv editor to match the image faces. This would also eliminate the need to use a 3rd party tool

People get confused by UV mapping because they think it's just painting on a 3D surface.
It's really a linear algebra transformation from a 2D space to a 3D Space. Each primitive (nowadays usually triangles) is being mapped by specifying the corresponding vertices on the texture and then doing interpolation.

this was very helpful thank you. I was always trying to UV map in the blender without exporting the uvmap layout and İ did have always problems. Probably next time I will try this. I think this solves most of the problems
