So this quest mod got so popular that they actually made a whole game you can get right now as a standalone title off steam. Its not following Elder Scrolls lore but rather Greek Mythology I believe. It has new content as well. I would check it out when you can.

Legacy of the Dragonborn is getting a sequel: Odyssey of the Dragonborn. It takes place after the Main Questline and is planned to add ~8 new zones outside of Skyrim. The first location is the Isle of Balfiera, located in the Niben Bay between Hammerfell and Highrock. IIRC, the next location will be in Morrowind, in and around the Red Mountain. Maybe we’ll get a Daddy Dagoth easter egg or two…

Moon and Star, even though its the shortest mod on here by a *mile* its honestly my favorite.
You can feel the love for Morrowind's lore and the suprise cameo by the Nerevarine was a *treat*
    (I also love that:
    A) The Nerevarine stays in Skyrim to act like a mentor type characters as he relates to the Dragonborn, having been in his shoes long ago and gives advice where he can.
    B) He is *fittingly* OP, or at least as much as Skyrim's unmodded combat & magic system allows him to be)

Addendum for Lotd: in addition to moonpath, it has compatability with a metric shitload of other mods and the cc content, provided you have the patches. Playing the Gray Cowl inadvertently caused me to create a Speedster build. I have a disenchant everything mod.
Gray Cowl mod had the glorious return of the boots of springheel jack which is an wicked speed boost.
Beyond Reach the Knight light armor has sprint for 3 seconds increases speed and also enemy power attacks slow down time.
I put all 3 on one pair it was truly OP but fun.
Then I don't even know what mod added it but got another enchantment called Cushion which negates fall damage
Later I got blink teleport spell which makes up for still not having great jumping abilities.
Overall the Gray Cowl mod is fun but I recommend downloading all of the mods that enhance it. I tried the AI voice pack but next time want to try the one done by new VAs

One mod that was quest-driven but tragically never made it past the starting stages was: Aetherius Mage - The Ancient Sanctuary of the Deceived.
It very much so has a 'freeware' type of game to it with how basic it is by modern modding standards, but I always felt like it had some real potential if it'd ever been worked on over the years. Shame it was abandoned after being updated to SSE and never worked on since. But it is what it is.

These are some excellent choices. I played the Clock Work house and I must say very good atmosphere and creepy elements even though I'm not a horror fan. But honestly after getting Id say roughly haft way through (at least I hope so, I got to when the ghost lady met with I'm guessing her mechanized corpse) I eventually lost interest as the prospect of going through another robo drauger fill dungeon got real old real fast as I had a bunch of other mods I just simply wanted to do more. Because boy is this one long ass haunted house mod.
For another I'd recommend for horror and dungeon crawler immersion enthusiast, is a underground quest mod. Forgot the name to it but basically it adds dozens of new locations and multiple long underground dungeons for you to explore and get lost in. So many new creatures with creepy designs and pretty though too. I guess it's a way to do fast travel and not break immersion but for me it a cool way to try out op gear, and spells though a word of warning you can get pretty lost in the deeper areas.

I really liked the house since it has immersive fast travel system as I was playing without map fast travel.
The paintings in the house never felt like it was mine. So I used Jaxonz Positioner and really transformed the place into a really awesome looking home even got a painting mod to replace some of the ones I didnt care for. I also used the mod to change the wallpaper. I even have the eye of magnus floating in the mages study above one of the wall divides just to give you an idea on how crazy my static clutter is.

One mod you forgot to mention Lord Dagoth, Warden of the Coast.
A mod heavily inspired by BioWare games. Great written characters, a very decent plot against The Prince of Destruction to prevent a genocide that happens once every generation while trapped on an island. The quest structure is played out like Mass Effect 2 focusing on the characters instead of the main plot. It plays out like a regular bioware game with multiple endings. Was fun when it worked, but I've never had as many issues with a mod as I did with that one. Quests not starting properly or refusing to end, CTDs and the final battle absolutely grinding the game's engine and my PC into submission made it somewhat frustrating to deal with. Every other quest I had to reload previous saves or ask for help on the mod's page, having to end/start/progress quests with console commands.

Wheels of Lull is a really good mod, though sometimes it doesn't play well with other quest mods and the initiating quest tends to break. Technically, its part of a mod anthology:
    Blackreach Railroad
    Brhuce Hammar: Legacy
    Aethernautics: A Space Travel Mod
    The Lost Wonders of Mzark
    Fyr Manor
    Dwemer Spectres
    The Wheels of Lull
Personally I am not big on Blackreach Railroad or Aethernautics, because they feel... Out of place immersion-wise even if the lore makes sense and doesn't technically break canon.
Though, Wheels of Lull is a perfectly fine standalone experience.

Does it use the Hearthfire DLC mechanics?

Hm... Darkend was kind of a cool mod. VERY Dark Souls like atmosphere wise. However.... The difficulty is kind of ludicrous on Legendary. Enemies are damage spongey as Hell. And will one shot you unless you have UNREASONABLY high health.
Also, a somewhat underrated mod I found was "Unremarkable Cave". Don't let the name fool you, it has some interesting bosses within it. And some neat loot. Including a power that uses stamina, and increases damage the more stamina you have if I recall.
...Also, shoutout to the saving Miraak mod. I'll admit, I DON'T like how you have to bend will him. It gets a bit too mind breaky for my liking, if I had modding knowledge, I'd change how you redeem him.... But then the mod almost seems to forget you did Bend Will on him, he goes off of his own accord to "set things right", and then you can recruit him. (Also, it never wears off. So... I feel like he stayed good of his on free will.)
I'll admit, I like his personality when he's on your side. He still acts like a smartass occasionally. When you get low on health, he says "I thought you were stronger than this". Kind of gives him a friendly rival vibe.... You can also marry him. (Which I did as a joke, but then actually kinda legit liked it for the character I was playing....)
Aside from obvious mods like Inigo, and Lucian. (Both of which have quests... Lucian's being actually pretty cool.) That's all I have.
