BOTTLE FACT: For clarification, people hit the bottom of the bottle with elbow because back in the '70,'80 bottles had cork that had to be loosend up a bit before opening it. These times it became more of a tradition to kind of honor that ritual.

It’s cause to us Koreans, being served food made from freshest ingredients means the same as you’re being given the best service the restaurant can give you. KBBQ is almost always about that freshness of the meat. In Korea, people thinks that fresher the meat, better the taste/for the body. Hence the reason why we have such dishes like Meat Sashimi (freshly minched/sliced beef with a fresh egg yolk with Korean pear/apple) or the notorious live octopus.
Quality cuisine is always about freshness and superior ingredients, regardless of origin! I do respect the commitment across the board however, and how it's deep rooted in the culture whereas some folks here in the good ol US of A don't question where our McBurgers come from and it's prettyyyyy awful.
Granted more and more young Americans are seeking out quality food to put in their bodies, so there's hope! :D

I'm Vietnamese and I don't think the youngest woman is expected to pour the drinks. Women actually sit at a different table than men because they mostly don't drink and/or they are not allowed to sit at the same table as men (pretty sexist I know). Hope that cleared things up :)

Quarters is great. Went there once and it's far better than any Korean BBQ we have here in Canada. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff too.
Funny story: went to a Korean BBQ in London. It was awesome. We ordered the bologi (I think how it's spelled) but I didn't realize it was raw beef. Took a bit, thought it tasted weird. Realized it was raw, prayed no one saw me, freinds saw me. Continuously mocked to this day about eating raw beef.
I thought that was how the dish was! Not my fault 😭😂😂

Come to Korea. Every single restaurant brags about how fresh their meat is. How they never use frozen meat. And it's so shocking when you find a BBQ place with frozen meat it's kinda weird. And it probably does change the flavor a bit. But seriously none of them brag about a secret sauce or spice. Aged meat is very rare. Sometimes they have a specific source for their meat.

time really flies. i remember watching this video with my ex. we went to coachella in 2019 and ate at oo-kook on the way back to the bay area. now i work at a korean bbq restaurant while i’m finishing my school. i feel like i’d be lying if this video didn’t introduce me to the vast, intricate, and beautiful world that is kbbq, as well as the rich culture behind it. all my coworkers are always really interested in how a hispanic knows so much about korean culture and honestly i have this video to thank for planting that seed. jjan!
