Love how the Netflix series made it seemed that nobody cared about Bush. Everyone was into it
a lot of booing when they first took the stage
They made it out like they opened with Swallowed, a softer song.. nah nah, Machinehead!
@@leekias1 I think if they had to nail Machine head they would of had a stronger start. There was something missing.
Right?
The mix was off the first few songs because of the wasted sound man.

Day 1 was nuts. Everyone was so full of fresh energy. Korn comes on and knocks the place on it's ass, and then Bush closes it out in good fashion. It's just a shame the sound engineers didn't have the mix right for Bush's start with Machinehead. Even with that, the crowd still went nuts when we barely heard the opening octave riff.
Seems like it was a lifetime ago already, but still feels like it was yesterday. I'm still glad my friends and I packed up the cats and left in the middle of day 3. We were fucking exausted, hungry, and thirsty. Couldn't do one more night there. We were shocked when we got home the next day and saw the riot that unfolded a few hours after we left.
Shocked??!! Well I wasn't there but at like 14 I remember seeing it on MTV after watching all that was actually on there and anyways. It took 20 plus to get the truth out what was going on whom to blame. Limp bizkit didn't start shit. I mean I saw that whole concert replay live. Hbo did a doc and Netflix. And. They made alot off it lol
Yeah definitely needed more bass guitar on that opening chord lol
I thought ppl were gonna die from dehydration then the helicopter dropped water on the crowd my friends n family all split up n randomly met up through out the day n Me I was a skateboarder n had a competition in Rhode island at two pi skatepark I had to decide to work towards being pro or seeing live bands I never became pro but I made it to first tier amateur sponsor flow rider but me n my buds had to decide to skate the contest or go to Woodstock I always change my mind should of went to Woodstock but everyone friend n family said they need water n were drinking just a different time

Korn still the show TBH

Sixteen Stone is easily up there for one of the best front to back albums. Surely ranking alongside albums like Siamese Dream and Dirt 🤘🏻
I'd like to throw "Purple" in the mix.
Toadies - Rubber neck and Bush- Sixteen Stone are two albums I can listen to beginning to end and never skip or tire.

gavin rossdale in the 90’s was so fine😮💨
He still is!!
Truer words!

My heart sped up when Gavin took his top off ngl
I was never a huge fan of Bush, but I didn't dislike them. I am honestly shocked at how amazing they sound live... this whole set is perfection. Gavin Rossdale and those pipes, damn.

I was born the year this happened but I would give so much to have grown up back then instead. There’s such a soft spot in my heart for 90s rock.
Also the lack of cell phones and social media is so damn appealing.
It was such a great time! Much simpler!

He was 33, almost 34. His birthday is October 30th 1965 and this was end of July 1999.
That new Netflix documentary about Woodstock ‘99 really was full of shit. They made it look like they were booed by the crowd and opened with swallow…
Woodstock 99 changed my life even though I wasn’t alive when it happened. I’ve gotten into so much music I never thought I’d like, Bush, Willie Nelson, Chemical Brothers, I’m eternally grateful. Also super obsessed, come over and let’s watch all 35 discs of the PPV.
Same here bro, something about it just resignates with me. The music, subcultures (indie, electronic music, nu metal, hip hop and everything inbetween)... I have spent more time delving into woodstock 99 than most and it seems to have become part of me.
@@gsw8734 Dude we are literally so alike on this it’s crazy. I find myself watching 1 performance a day at least, I was obsessed enough to track down most “discs” of the Pay Per View so I can watch inbetween clips from going between stages. It is a part of me now, we’d make good Woodstock friends haha!
@dinguswiffle1866 Haha definitely bro. For some reason I just keep getting drawn back, I am always watching clips, performances and listening to podcast99. It's nice too know I am not the only one lol, nice too speak with another Woodstock friend 🤘🏻
Jonathan Davis & Gavin Rossdale never pushed the crowd over the limits. Very different but great control by both.
so you're saying it's all Fred Durst's and Anthony Kiedis' fault? lol!
@@jjcruz4307Well I doubt Fred Durst meant for anyone to get raped or stomped on. Anthony Kiedis is just kindv an idiot.
What's it like adopting every opinion thrust on you as if it were your own?
It was the frat boys that messed it up.
How so?
"Everything zen? I don't think so." A pretty accurate summary of Woodstock 99.
and that very song was picked to be on the official Woodstock 99 live album
Just saw them tonight live for the 5th time. Gavin is still amazing.
Saw them Monday in Milwaukee. Yep, he still sounds great!
@@pfenigma I wish people still were into rock music like the 90s.
Saw them in Tinley Park Il. Amazing performance!
With Alice in Chains and Breaking Benjamin?
They're gonna be in Tampa Sept 30th. Definitely going
I went to woodstock 99 when i was 17 years old with 2 other friends of mine, I did not regret it at all it was the best experience i had.
That's crazy,it looked like mayhem after watching Trainwreck
@@craigst.7601 it was mayhem , me and my brother and his friends had to leave once the fires had started. we got inside the car and left once people started to burn up the place.
I’m so jealous.
Bush is way underrated, but they're in my top 10
I live them. I'm from Yorkshire in the UK and I'm amazed how many people have never heard of Bush. They all know the land singer only because he was a judge the voice a few years back which I find sad and feel for their bad taste

Always loved Bush ! And Gavin is soooo 🥰
Just seen bush 2/11/23 still amazing! Gavin kills it
Amazing set, forgot how good Bush was. A million times better than what passes for today’s “music”!
Hahah congratulations you just became your parents. The circle of life continues 😂
But this time you might actually be wrong . Because Objectively there has never been a better time for music. Social media and other 😮platforms (just like UA-cam & Spotify) have drastically removed the barriers many artist use to face just to be discovered. Now anyone with an iPhone and and internet connection can get their music to the masses. Just because the type of music you like is not currently popular or in the charts doesn’t mean there are no more good musicians / music 🤦♂️ it’s just means you haven’t bothered to look.
The other big benefactor to the above is live music ! Now that record companies don’t just hand out big cheques for cd sales a lot of huge bands are now properly touring again to earn their keep. Lol even Gavin has been doing more “paid appearances” for smaller touring bands
They still tour and they still sound great!
@@TJjjjjjjjjjj Old Timey here … totally agree and would like your comment 10 times if I could. I remember my Pops ripping our music in the 70s … he was a musician/truck driver who claimed Skynyrd, Allman Bros, etc. were a bunch of stoned out hippies running scales with no sense of musicianship. So yeah…pretty standard MO for each generation to bastardize the next generation’s music without really even listening to everything out there. There really is great music out now, unless you choose to lock yourself away in a time capsule.
And imagine back then Bush is a joke to grunge music
@@TJjjjjjjjjjj You mite want to lay off the Drugs!! Music today SUCKS HAMMERS!!👎The internet has done JACK for the music industry but flood everybody with a bunch of GARBAGE MUSIC, EVERYBODY just copies everybody else, no true musicians anymore.

I think it's a toss up between Gavin rossdale and Chino Moreno from deftones for best 90's rock star hair.
Back when life was normal and back when we had music
eh, buddy. 20+ yrs ago, no croud with cells, just livin life. and here we are now no 5ft apart life
rose colored glasses. this festival was rape fest shit hole
That festival was everything except “normal”. Woodstock was a total chaos, iconic, but a whole desaster.
Normal? Far from that. Fuckin morons vs morons. The promoters were fucked and I’d say about 60% of the assholes who destroyed shit were fucked as well.
Exceptionally good music at that
The Netflix documentary brought me here but my god this vibe is so untouchable with today's experience. To be able to have experienced something like this is so admirable I give it to you guys who were so lucky 🙏⚘
I knew this experience would be monumental and it was
Bush at Woodstock'99 was just incredible. Can't believe it was 23 years already, seems like a week ago.
Well at least Netflix got you hère¡ welcome im not à fun of Netflix for a number of reasons but they got you here ñow

Si lástima que esos empresarios solo pensaron en ganar y hicieron al público a un lado, épico concierto fuera de todo lo sucedido..
90’s bands did it different
The greatest decade.. and its not even close!!
Netflix doctored up footage of bush being booed before going on stage that's not what happened according to this footage. Crowd sounded pretty loud to me
Yeah I hear that Bush had to follow some act….nu-metal or something. Well, seems like many in this crowd were very much digging Bush and it took me a while to get on board with Bush but saw them twice back in the day (took my cousin and friends in Minneapolis) and my girlfriend at the time took me for the college tour thing with Moby. Bush was awesome both shows and the girls all went nuts.
Bush will stand the test of time.
Whereas others…….
This shows after, you need to go back further to see it. It happened, trust me
@@ATXviIIIe Randomly saw your comment about the Moby/Bush college tour - assuming that was in St Cloud? If so, was that not the worst crowd/pit experience ever because of the massive amount of girls pushing to see Gavin? lol - great show but the screams for Gavin were insane!
@@shauneredfield2086 Hey, yeah that was the show! I don’t recall that mosh pit scene since we were not on the floor but yeah the girls kind of took over at Bush shows! Lol. They deserve at least that.
I met Moby that day or day before at huge record/electronic store off Division, meet and greet thing. About 20 people in line!
@@ATXviIIIe I mean the Netflix documentary is probably the most pr they've had for like a decade. They're relatively unknown nowadays, and for good reason tbh. Middle of the road, trying to be edgy but not daring, Rossdale's fake southern accent, it's all just a bit goofy tbh. At least the other bands were memorable.
Glycerine 40:45 is one of the best performances of the whole weekend and their was a lot of good ones but get overshadowed by the mayhem that happened
Yeah there were so many good performances at WS 99... the 90s were an amazing era especially for music. I grew up in the 90s so I am who I am because of the events in those years and I wouldn’t have picked a better year to be born... it was the last great era, the 00s and up are getting worse because of social media, the internet and the rise of technology. There are many great musicians these days but I think the 90s was the last great era of awesome talented rock bands. Reminder: I’m not saying there are NO good bands since the 90s there just isn’t as many
Has to be the best live version as well,so good 👍🏻
@@vermili0n totally, didn’t have the social media machines like now so a lot of the really good bands had to actually try and sell themselves, bringing out the best music from that 90’s era plus Grunge was a massive driver in making that 90s sound so unique for that era(thank you Nirvana,Bush,Pearljam 🤙🏻
Glycerin was awesome. When he was singing the chorus, I felt like I was swimming in the coean and popping my head up to the surface to get some air before going back down in the deep depths again.
Gavin was sooo freaking cute. Now I’m 36 and I can’t believe he sounded so good live.
And Gwen dumped him for country Blake.....she's just after the money

Saw these guys live in 96 and 97. Great performers.
me too, saw them live in 97 during their razorblade suitcase tour when i was 15, they opened w/ a Tendency to start Fires..
What an unbelievable vocal... from start to finish on the whole live. Gavin is a priceless treasure! Personally I think comparing Gavin with Kurt is understandable, but comparing Gavin to the vocals from other guitar rock or grunge or alternative bands in the '90s is nonsense just because apart from voice he usually sounds amazing live and when it comes to songwriting he is the best melody maker of the era along with Thom Yorke.
Oh my God, watching this brings it back like it was yesterday. For all the negative stuff that went down there, I have to say just being there and experiencing the music was monumental for me. I saw no violence although I know it happened. It was nothin' but a great memory for me.
What happened
It was a great 3 days for me there. I was back about 250 from stage but could hear them perfectly. So glad my wife and I made that trip
So you didnt drink the water then 😂
Is it true that bush was booed...as the crowd wanted more from the band Korn?
@@richikdeb yeah, you can hear it when they are about to start their set on the Trainwreck doco
@@craigst.7601 I was there; I don't remember boos but maybe I was too zoned in on seeing Gavin.
Do you feel the way you hate or hate the way you feel? Love this band!
*_To all the Zoomers out there, I wish you could’ve experienced just one concert where no one had a phone and everybody was collectively as one for a brief moment in time. It was a high that no drug could match. I’m fortunate to have had a few of those experiences in my life._*
I agree, and I don't think me or you are trying to hate on them, either. People today seem more concerned with capturing a memory in a bottle instead of enjoying it for what it actually is. I feel bad for people who don't get that.
So true
Yep!!
Amen
I think people nowadays are more worried about letting everyone else know how great of an experience they’re having instead of enjoying that experience for themselves. Eg: I took a friend skydiving and he was more worried about paying so much extra to get a video/picture package so he could let everyone on social media know that he went skydiving instead of just enjoying that experience for himself.
Lead and bass guitar add so much to the particular sound of Bush. Talented dudes! Miss this era of music.
Just watching these 99 sets and seeing the crowd is intoxicating. It’s like a living organism hard to believe so many people packed in there. But at the same time after watching a doc about it you start to think there is a grope or sucker punch happening every 3 feet
Gavin is hot as hell. I love BUSH 💗

Glad you had a blast and not caught up like the doco shows
This may be the perfect set. Well mixed between the first few albums.
What most of younger generations and even Gen-X's boomer parents don't get, is that the reason Gen-X's music, lifestyle and outlook was so amazing is how we were raised (or not raised if you wanna get real). Our music was brutally honest and reflected the self-sufficiency we had to learn because our d-bag hippy parents were too busy finding themselves or morphing into greedy yuppies and politicians.. But we also had musical influences growing up that never existed before or after us. We learned classical in school, jazz- big band, and the blues from our grandparents, 50's and 60's rock from our parents and our earliest "new" music influences began in the early 1970's and went straight thru to our 20's in the 90's. The world could fall into global nuclear conflict and after the fall-out the only things left alive would be roaches, kieth richards and the majority of Generation "X".
I love that style of that just raw crunchy in-your-face rock!
Just saw Bush live a few weeks ago...was amazing...He's still got it..sounded just like how i remember as a teen..and here i am watching him destroy in front of 100k people
I was there. There were a lot of great performances. The ticket prices and the amount they charged for everything once you got there, was ridiculous.
And to think we’re paying high prices for everything now is still sad
For the water lines to go bad and then the festival didn’t hand out free water for the rest of the time is so bad lol. Instead they charged $4 a bottle back in 99. I don’t blame everyone for burning the place down after even though if I was there I would’ve jumped in the car and gotten out of there asap when the fires started haha. Crazy shit
Would you do it again? I would!! I live in San Francisco now where there's no short supply of live music but man you pay big for it. 7 years ago paid $1,275.00 for Neil and Peggy Young's Bridge School Benefit concert.
@@kellyrn6014 yes.
Watching this after Trainwreck i think that bush is the only band during the whole event to do their JOB successfully as a rock band. After seeing the energy and anger of the crowd after Korn what these kids needed was to calm down before their rage got out of control but still be entertained. It was a very difficult task even Jonathan Davis didnt know what was gonna happen after he walked off and bush came on, but their style of music played into this and starting out with Machinehead to match the crowds energy and slowly lulling them down little by little you can see by the time they get to The chemicals between us the crowds definitely calmed down and are moving more of their hands rather than moshing. Glycerine essentially locked in this feel and from there all the way to their encore the mood had changed to more of an energetic melancholy rather than rage pain. I think this set is legendary because of this. Korn did what they do and had prob the best performance but immediately could tell that the energy was intimidating and this is something that would reoccur across the 3 days but bush was the only band who actually quelled the crowd a little. If they ended the event on day one it would've been wonderful but sadly things didnt go that way.
Replying after attending the festival all those moons ago. You can’t blame the bands and acts. They are there to deliver a show and therefore be them self and their act.
@@jcobhaigh it was the corporate stooges. Im glad their shit got burned. they can claim insurance money but will those girls lives be better or the guy that died of het stroke
I dunno man, if you weren't there it's a bit of a stretch to completely swallow the narrative of a doc wholesale. If you watch a lot of the camcorder footage in the crowd floating around on you tube, it was pretty calm comparatively in a lot of places.
Iv just said that I felt for then just after korn. But they did try and pull it bk as they were aware that it was not a normal condition s kinda gig. I am a man but I'd touch his bush lol 😆
stop promoting a fucking narrative, you weren't there, its just your confirmation bias, try to think rationally
Amazing set....these guys were tight. Like how they jammed out the intro to Machine head until the sound crew adjusted the calibrations of the overdrowning of bass and properly distributed the guitars over it.
Appreciate comments like this
They always played Machine Head with the extended intro that way live
Watched Woodstock 99 and then came here. I assumed they'd opened with Swallowed which would have been a disappoinement after Korn.

bush was the headliner so who cares lmao
Yeah especially when korn tore the place apart
Bush was def the better band .... it wouldn’t matter how hard Korn, biscuit, or muffin fritter jammed out or what mess they made, every female in there went soaking wet when Rossdale walked out there , washing away any memory of the previous hours. The men would be so awash in the pheromonal deluge that they too would just focus on the headliner show !
@@DG-ss1gc lol bush felll off in 1996
@@DG-ss1gc this is so cringe
Young Gavin is another level of hot
Quien escuchando ahora esta buena presentación?
Sin tapabocas, sin celulares......éramos felices y no lo sabíamos.
Nigel Pulsford is brilliant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish Nigel was still in Bush. He had it like no one else. ❤️
@@andrakriesemint5680 Traynor isn’t bad, but Nigel is a sort of ‘Clapton’
@@andrakriesemint5680 After Golden State that was it...some good songs on later albums like Sound of Winter and Bullet Holes but still not as good as their first 4 albums...
love the REM cover at the end
Everything Zen is the greatest opening of any song in history
I watched the whole thing EPIC, I remember watching this set at 19 years old in my living room. good times
It was even better being in the crowd
Amazing such a legendary event and legendary acts/bands ❤ rock on 🤘
pure gold this concert in such quality, thanks
woah, that r.e.m cover was awesome!
The Netflix documentary made it seem as if they played their most mellow song at the start of their set and everyone hated them
Assistindo novamente esse show em 2023, ja assisto desde a minha adolescencia minha banda favorita sempre foi e sempre sera Bush marcou demais a minha vida, escuto sempre
thank you bush!!!!

Bush has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine. I paid to see them 4 times. Awesome shows.❤❤❤❤love love love Gavin!
Que grande banda, venham para o Brasil
Really hard to describe to kids growing up now but EVERY BAND that was popular was at this show. And at the height of their popularity. MTV and everyone hyped it up for MONTHS. Then I remember distinctly watching Kurt Loader "live from Woodstock 99" as the thing devolved into absolute insanity. That clip of the guy surfing on a piece of plywood during Limp Bizkit is forever burned into my brain.
Whos here bcoz of netflix documentary...
Love that first screech from the audience member. Sets the mood
ua-cam.com/video/asna-KFCq4A/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Woodstock99 New Quality this concert :) .
Singer: " everybody happy? "
Me: watching this yeahhhhh
I can not wait to see them next Friday!!
was it a good concert dude?
legal esse show!...
I had a DVD of this back in the day. I somehow rememered it and looked this up. I dug them, but once the 00's got into swing with bands like Coheed and Cambria and the like, kind of forgot about them.
Damn awesome 👏🏼
After watching lots of footage from Woodstock 99 sets I notice sooo many mixing errors (bass way too high, no vocal, etc.). It's as though no one soundchecked! It's understandable though when you look into it... the whole thing was pure carnage.
It was all good iñ the ènd¡
this video should have more views
The Best...
