I appreciate your style of not doing click-bait or theatrics (Well, beyond the occasional hidden milk). I have learned so much about cows, milk production, crops, and just general farming. Totally new respect for what you and fellow farmers do. Every time I walk past the milk section in the grocery store, I think of your vids. Well done!
Before you buy, I highly suggest you test drive a Woods front mount. My deck raises up so I can easily remove blades to sharpen & hose off underside. But keep in mind, I’m a 70 yr old female that does all the yard work. No more driving up on car ramps, laying on my back, scraping crap into my face!

You guys put a lot of thought into the layout of your heifer barn. Move the cattle into the feed aisle with dividing gates. Bed the pens and let them back in. Great farm and great videos

I'd like to get a good zero turn mower, my old rider is really getting up there, those Toro's look nice. Good catch on the heifer, catching them early on an illness is key to a quick recovery. Have a good night and great Sunday.
I have the entry level Toro Time Cutter with MyRide and its awesome and makes sense for my 1 acre lawn. You can get the Titan with the MyRide suspension if you want the heavier mower. Comparing 60" cut machines you can get a Timecutter for $5000, a Titan Max for $7100 or the Z-Master for $11,000+ but in my mind you won't put enough hours on it to warrant the high end. I'd much rather buy a less expensive mover and trade it say every 3rd year. Keeps breakdowns near zero, the last thing you want to do after feeding and milking and trying to manage spraying corn or chopping feed is fiddling with a broken mower.
Not going to lie. I started drinking milk again. You got me. Dairy Farms like yours are the hardest working farms in the country. Imagine if you bought feed. Imagine if you were raising beef instead of dairy..you and your farm are great. This series tells the truth.

I always like the idea of commercial grade stuff... until I see the price tag of commercial grade stuff... then I have to real it in a bit and sort out how much I'm actually going to use the thing. It makes sense to spend more if you are working them all day. Since I'm just a large home owner (and a large homeowner ha ha!) I don't usually spend the extra for commercial grade. Hope that cow gets to feeling better.
Hi from the uk you use alot of wood chip as bedding does it not take a longtime to breakdown when spread on the land,would milled straw not be better ,would there be much price difference, but the straw would be better for the land,just thought appreciate your time making these videos love them
Hey Eric, love the videos. I had a question if it's not intrusive. I watch a cool UK UA-cam dairy farmer Tom Pemberton was talking a bit back about how he treats UA-cam as a sort of bonus income which goes back into running the farm and stuff. Do you find UA-cam to be a similar time worthy investment in your day to day normal work? He has a similar looking dynamic as with your own dad, In that he sometimes seems to get frustrated with the time filming can take, but Tom looks like it seems worth taking the extra time to incorporate filming. Is this something you could talk to in your experience? Cheers dude, thanks for all the hard work and your time, all the best dude.
So how do you know to treat with antibiotics? If an animal is sick is it typically bacterial? Wasn’t sure if that is a preventative thing or 9/10 it’s a bacterial infection. Love the videos!
I’ll stick with my grasshopper front mount mower. We have a hustler mid mount like those Toros. The grasshopper rides so much smoother and goes pretty much anywhere.
@10thgenerationdairman61 - your cows are always as happy and healthy as can be :) Personally, in terms of advancement, they have gut track and ear tags... i'd look into using that tech to allow cows free range and tech (tags/guts) tracking operates gates automatically, guiding them to where they are better suited. but i think weirdly. meh. i'm sure theres a way of doing it. We have a Toro mower that is about 15 years old. I think it's really good, besides two issues. It allwayd struggles to start, and it can't reach under some of trees.
Maybe someday tell us how you get chocolate milk out of the cows? It must be complicated because it’s always more costly. Great video. Makes me want to purchase some land so I can justify a nice Toro.
That 4000 is the bomb. I’ve only got 2 acres and I spent more to get the z master 4000 just because it does so much better than the residential type mowers
Just a suggest on curtains in the heifer barn. Always error on the side of more ventilation. It'll keep your pack drier and animals healthier. I'm always amazed that you guys always have your barns closed up tighter than we do concerned about cold. I'm in ny. Cows are cold weather animals!

I want him to do a better job every day as every other person that owns cattle. You'd be amazed of the community of farmers that help each other out with suggestions and learning. BTW similar built barn here with zero treated animals.

I've been looking into the z master 4000 is the extra hp noticeable/worth it? Currently running a 22hp x380, and it's terrible is wet thick grass.

Im not sure why but we have noticed that our young hiefers stay much healthier when we bed with straw or cornstalks in the winter vs sawdust.
