I have the ZMaster 2000, Love it!! I mow 11 acres, its had zero issues. Im going on my 3rd year with my mower. Thus far, i have zero issues. I have no opinion on the Skag.
The Apple didn’t fall far from the tree. It was a wonderful boots on the ground comparison, including a value added view of historic experience. It seems to be a trend that you value a robust long term experience from your F450 to your Trailers and now your equipment. Your plans for the Property is coming along nicely.
Excellent video! I looked at the exact same mowers. I decided to go with Toro for price and convenience. The nearest scag dealer from me is about 35 miles vs Toro dealer is 6 miles
I had mentioned previously, about my wife and her 16 year old Hustler zero turn mower. To us, mowing about 2 acres, one to three times a week, longevity with minimum repairs is most important. I believe the Scag would fit my criteria (after the repairs that were necessary).
I just bought a new Toro Z master 2000. The 2023 looks different and a bit nicer IMO and is a great value for the money. That said, I think the Scag Cheetah is the best looking mower on the market.
An interesting piece of info that lawn service guys and home owners alike would be interested in is which burns more gas? Does that extra power in the scag come at a significant increase in fuel consumtion?
That was a great comparison for those two mowers. Granted they weren’t apple-to-apple models, however they were close enough to type and capabilities that it was a good overview of both units. Did you ever find any adjustments on the Toro seat to be able to stiffen up the bounce or compression springs?
So less money, well built, more efficient use of a smaller engine, closer cut = less trimming, innovated seat suspension and hasn't broken down out of the box. Toro.
I am an Exmark guy myself, but would choose the Scag between these 2 mowers, I actually am not a fan of how the Toro looks and prefer the "industrial" look of the Scag. The more powerful motor is also a benefit for me as I often mow overgrown properties and mulch a lot of leaves in the fall.
What all these lawnmower reviews need after two years how did they hold up ??? What broke??? How often did you have to replace belt how are the hydraulic holding up what about electrical???
It would have been nice, for landscapers who are watching to evaluate, if you mentioned which Hydrostatic rear end each has. That's the central component; it's why you purchased a z-turn over another style of mower~
Also, appreciate your dad's final summation, even tho it was the natural conclusion, it was gratifying to hear him say where the value is, from a homeowner perspective 👍 Similar to him, i -almost- purchased a 1600s ii Deere last year to rehab and work. Alas i was sad not to buy it... $75k machine when new, and i had the capacity to trailer it ~
This was a waste of time. Should have compared Toro’s 4000 series vs the Scag Cheetah in an apples to apples comparo at least power wise. My Ride seems geared toward homeowner use. Your dad’s comment on Scag seat reflects that it was well designed for hard commercial use. I’ve no skin in the game. I’m looking at both Toro and Scag.

Hi Richard, how are you doing today

Great Comparison!! And thanks to Daddy JD for his input and experience.
Great content as always. Love the content related to your property. Thanks for sharing.

Really enjoying the homestead segments for sure.
Great comparison and project with Dad out at Big Acres!
THE NEWER CHEETAH 2 HAS A SUSPENSION SEAT ALONG WITH THE PLATFORM MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE BUT NICE EQUIPMENT 🎉🎉
No comparison scag for the win.

How do you like the 2000
I like father and the way he thinks! Must be because we are close to the same age
Wow.. that’s cool

I'm just like your dad.
I love cutting grass more than anything.

And I love the Scag Cheetah II, love my 38.5 hp Scag Cheetah II.
Your name says it all my friend. It's a beast for sure!
Also you don't want to go fast to get a great cut! On our golf courses quality was more important than speed. Stay safe.

How does it compare to a Ferris mower?
Compare these 2 models with an Altoz TRX with suspension. I would be interested in your opinion.
Well, being a landscape contractor, I too am all about the business, and that's why I'd choose Scag all day.
I’d like to see a comparison with a Ferris.

JD, what if you adjust the Toro suspension?
Nice review

I want the Toro.
love my ferris
Why not cut 2 to 3 inches out of the dirt so that the driveway is even with the yard.
Not really necessary.
I thought the same tho
Workmanship...toro wins as you've not had any problems yet!
I guess it’s not gonna be easy tho
Scag power, heft and seat. Toro deck and platform. MTD price 😉
Lol, mowing some sand . Are those mesquite trees on you're property ?
Yes sir
I say toro. Just for the simple fact that it hasn't broke down, like that other turd.
