It's not an official Smash game, but "Smash Remix" for N64 just added Marina Lightyears to the roster in the update dropped earlier today.
I loved this game. I had so much fun with it. Marina's strategy was "I'm gonna beat this motherf*cker with this motherf*cket"

Marina fuggin' deserves a spot in smash, imagine shaking people to death in a stamina match.
Grabbing people but the feet and repeatedly slamming then against the stage to deal damage, in multimam fight grabbing one opponent and using one player to bash another.

Seconded. It was my favorite game as a kid. Every level and boss fight had so much creativity built around a few simple mechanics. it blows my mind that Mischief Makers doesn't get more love, and didn't have at least half a dozen sequels.
Played it on the N64 back when i thought everyone knew about the games that i played.

Mischief Makers was one of very few N64 games I've owned and I played the hell out of it.
I loved that game but never owned it but my best friend back in school did we never finished because there was one level where we never figured out the puzzle. Maybe need to replay that game nowadays.
I've wanted Marina in smash for so long. Mischief Makers was a keystone of my childhood.

Y'know, given the salts in the past, this one feels rather low sodium and I can't find myself arguing because this game is practically permanently affixed to my N64. Had me looking for more media of it back in the day, as it always felt like it was the game of some popular or semi-popular anime back in the day, you know?
Still, good to see Mischief Makers getting some love somewhere on the internet.
Based on a lot of the Japanese media surrounding the game, it looks highly likely that somebody was trying to springboard Mischief Makers into a multimedia franchise. Its poor sales sadly squashed that dream before it could even get a chance. A tragedy, honestly. There are so many fun, funny and memorable characters that I could easily imagine a short animated series.
In the last few months I've seen Nitro Rad and Antdude cover this, seeing as it's considered the one 2D platformer in the 3D platformer era. It's starting to get more coverage.
It's not salt because of the game.
It's salt because this game refuses to be re-released.
It always makes me happy whenever somebody mentions a little known gem from my childhood. I'd wager I still have my copy of Mischief Makers in my home and I wouldn't mind revisiting it in the near future.

My experience with this game: Found it randomly at my local video/game rental store as a kid. Played but didn't understand it 100% Just thought it was cool. Fast forward about 6 years and I'm about 13/14. Find a guy selling it out of box for like 30 bucks at a local festival. Played the shit out of it. 100% the game, Thank you Scott for bringing awareness to one of the GREATEST N64 gems out there. I'm officially onboard for Marina in Smash.....next to my boi Travis Touchdown!!!

It's weird that they use them before the final battle against her after she saves them and they decide to reject heroism and beat her up for no reason. Actually, that's weird anyway. The writing in this game is odd. I've acted under the assumption that the English version changed parts of the script (with reason, given some of Prof. Theo's animations).

This was one of the few n64 games that really stuck to me (along with Conker's BFD, Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox) and I really gotta say, it's great to see you showing some love for it. TOP CONTENT!
I always shout "THROUGH FIRE, JUSTICE IS SERVED!" when using a flame thrower in any game.
Every voice line from this game is branded into my memory. I don't know who put all their heart and soul into those Lunar lines, but I hope they're well.

I got mischief makers when I was a kid, and it has always, and will always be, one of my favorite games! The only problem, is that I don’t even know another person that has an idea what the game is! This was an awesome video! Thanks for reigniting my love of the game. I actually still have my copy, so I’m gonna go play it

I remember first playing this game over at a friend's house when I was a wee bab. I didn't remember the name of it but the game itself stuck in my memory and it was definitely neat to rediscover it about 10 years later.

Oh the good memories I have of this little gem...
I only ever rented this game from blockbuster myself... (Three times)
But I was always said that I could never find this gem to own for myself, and while yes I could easily have just kept the copy from blockbuster... It just felt too wrong to deny this experience for anyone else...
Even though nine times out of ten and much to my the begrudgment every time I went to said blockbuster this was the only game sitting there for the N64...
Ah, a long forgotten masterpiece. They should port this game to the switch, I would buy it again and beat it for the 16th time
