Rufus & Chaka ~ Do You Love What You Feel 1979 Disco Purrfection Version
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 бер 2013
- Chaka and Rufus, Rufus and Chaka...right from the get go of "Tell Me Something Good" I was a fan...the funk! the soul! that voice! The seventies were better because of them...and they closed the 70's with this monster....a chunky, funky jazz funk pop concoction that proved irresistible, topping the R&B chart at the end of 1979 for three weeks and set up producer Quincy Jones the opportunity to succeed himself at #1 with Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" for another six weeks into 1980. It did not do as well on the pop charts though, peaking at #30. Who cares! The extended version on the 12 still was not long enough for me...
You can't keep doing this to me, DiscoCat!!!! I literally had to get out of my chair and dance like a mad woman in my living room, you are Everything!!!
+Dyana Bartley glad I can keep you motivated!
+Dyana Bartley I TOTALLY understand you. I'm doin' the same as I type this --- but I'm dancin' in my chair. Chaka is MY absolute favorite singer of all.
+Dyana Bartley Don't feel bad. Same thing happened to me only I was at work.
all I know is this music makes me feel good 😇😇😇
+Monica Whitehead, I know what you mean, music and movies have had a huge impact on my life, so when I came across the very brilliant DiscoCat and his epic remixes, I definitely felt that he's got a wonderful grasp on music. I love the way he builds upon the original version without having to sacrifice the original beats, that is why he's a genius and why I am a huge fan of his, I do hope he keeps them coming, because I love what he does...
Chaka is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Neither is Rufus. Let's get this corrected! VOTE
*2023 UPDATE: Chaka Khan has now been inducted into the Hall of Fame.*
Nor are 99% of the other bands that deserve to be, the HOF is kind of a joke.
Greyareas27 well let’s correct this shiggidy!

Yessss! I've been saying this for long time!
Just like the grammy's, a complete joke to our artists and our culture !!
40 years later and this jam still goes hard 😊

42 years and still bumpin

Chaka made it to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, finally this past year 2023.😅 I'm glad she did. She's great!
...con grande ritardo anche lei tra i giganti ...👏👏👏👏👏
Congratulations 🎉
This is one of the most energetic songs in the history of R&B

C'mon it's hot but that's a high bar

The bomb! Get up and jam on it!
There was something magical about the music in the 70s. The synergy and musicianship cannot be duplicated. Black and White artists together as a group produced some really great tunes. You dont see that anymore...
We need that synergy back.
Yes hands down
I am so glad i came up in that era. The kids now dont even know.
Never
It's call soul and when u eat wrong u give up mellion ur soul brother Musa daroo
Chaka makes Corona lock down and Cancer drift away for a minute, and what a moment it is. ❤️✌🏽

Oh yesss
Yes, it does make you feel like moving with all these sad things going on in the world much need.
I heard that!!!😊
Quincy Jones is often quoted as saying "if you make music for money or fame , God leaves the room" God was def in the room when they made this song💃❤
Can’t believe Rufus & Chaka khan are not in the RR hall of fame unbelievable !! 😤 still jamming this in 2022!
And it still jamming in 2023❤❤❤❤
And yet you give artificial weight to RRHOF with statements like this.
When you sound this great and soulful, you don't need validation from the RRHoF. Rufus & Chaka Khan have been validated by the people and by the boogie.
I personally give Rufus and Chaka their flowers❤
Dope
No one sounds like her then or now still the baddest chick !
Okkkkk
The Best times of my generation.
The Best
Only other person I know that even comes close is the vocalist from Jamaica Funk that I thought was Chaka til I saw the video so many years ago.

Quincy could always take a song and turn it inside out. And bring it to life. Thank you Quincy Jones for 60 years or more of great musicians and great music.
I love Quincy Jones’s creativity. Musical genius!!! Body Heat! An oldie, but still very nostalgic and a goody! 🥰🥰
@@diandrachess4305 I WAS JUST LISTENING TO THE SONG, "STUFF LIKE THAT." THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN BY QUINCY JONES ABOUT 40 YEARS AGO. HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT WHEN THIS MAN WRITES AND OR PRODUCES A SONG, NO CAN COME OUT WITH A BETTER VERSION. THIS MAN IS A GENIUS. OUR ELDER IS ALMOST 90 YEARS OLD.
Shoulda known the man had a hand in this classic. The percussion and guitar sections are too perfect.
YES!!! Quincy Jones is a genius! He was 18 years old when he and Ray Charles met and years later he produced Ray Charles', Genius+Soul=Jazz. Give a listen if you have heard it.

It’s funny I didn’t learn to appreciate old r&b until I got in my 40s. I love the music of my childhood and young adult years. Real instruments and lyrics that can be played at the family bbq’s.

Dig it, this is when Quincy took over, brought that Temperton, MJ, George Benson, Dude Album, Patti Austin, James Ingram Sonic Flavor...called R&B!!! Quincy killed the game and it was good to hear the group back. Plus, Chaka's just doin Chaka!!!
Quincy took over the whole Game

Love Chaka... great song. Best time I ever had a concert was seeing Chaka perform in a small venue/bar... with maybe 200 people... she was 1 foot from me... it was so awesome. She was just doing that gig to try out new material. She blew the roof off that little place.
True R&B: DIVA!! She can be mentioned in the same breath as, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin!! Anyone agree?
No Sir Michael, sorry I disagree. Lady Chaka Khan is in a class all by herself lol! Much love tho my brotha, stay safe and have a fabulous day!

@@DointimeonEarth Yes Sir, there's truly no comparison to this lady and Rufus's musical style!
Completely
Michael Johnson I agree but exclude Diana with Aretha and Chaka... I’d put the legendary Gladys Knight over Diana. Queen Aretha, Chaka and Gladys can SANNNG! With respect, they’re careers had that momentum and staying power that outlasted Diana’s. I went to a sold out Gladys K concert last year in Nov 2019 her voice was flawless! 💯✌🏽

This is the kind of upbeat, feel good, get up out of your chair rhythm that makes you think you can dance, even though you can't.
I got a chance to interview Chaka in 1993 on her front porch in Los Angeles for 2.5 hours. What an incredible woman. And sexy, too. ❤️ I will NEVER forget it. It truly was an honor.

Still crazy good in 2021!!
I can't stop listening to this song!!! I used love this song as a child. They don't make music like this anymore, unfortunately. 💜
OMG..the 70s music ruled and it still does to this day!!! All my straight friends wanted to go to the Disco clubs to pick up girls, but according to them, "real men don't dance" LOL. But not me. I had the music bug since I was 5 years old when my dad built his own "Hi-fi" system. So I joined my friends on their "pick-up" missions at the discos, me wearing the thick platform shoes you needed a ladder to step into, the silk quiana shirts, bell bottoms, and huge curly afro, and I literally had a line of girls waiting for their turn to dance with me! A (not openly at the time) gay man enjoying the moment, the music, the spinning mirrored ball, all the while my friends sitting at the table, moping, frowning and VERY unsuccessful in their "pick-up" mission to get the girls...how ironic, but nonetheless the perfect night out on the town dancing to the most beautiful music in the world.. with BEAUTIFUL women!! And I freakin LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!

When music was music.
Kinda music you play when you LOVE the ones you blessed with.
I think this song is a prime example of how much the band has suffered with the loss of Darren and all of his collaboration. The few new instrumentalists cannot hold a candle to what the predecessors put out each week. Sadly, I find myself listening to all of the songs pre the break up. No one can compete with what was put out by this group in the past. I feel bad for all of us.
