They got busy and we are grateful for these sounds. Except the disco haters, such ignorance that still persists. Amen!
Truly wonderful, so crisp and fresh. A piece like this is timeless. You can really see how today's ethereal chill out music and numerous DJs were inspired by music like this.
It’s called talent. Their music is heavily sampled by rappers, yet the group couldn’t get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because of the disco music stigma. Nile Rodgers’ guitar-playing has a distinctive sound, and Bernard Edwards is/was one of the best bass players ever.

Only Nile Rogers and Bernie Edwards could come up with idea of using strings and horns on a disco recording and as the 1970’s progressed they made some fantastic tunes using this very same format. So thanks to Chic and the band for their contributions to a fantastic decade of quality music that shaped many young persons lives here in my native Scotland
True. Why so under-rate bands? Keep all and curate them as solid gold to your soul. And utilize them upon each moment; classify each memory. Satisfy them with each tune...enjoy-!
“Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?”― Tennessee Williams.
There's no present just past in fact past is the only thing that's real. Have you ever seen a picture about the present or the future ? No. The only thing real is the past

What GREAT memories this song and Chic brings me! I graduated high school in 78' and was immediately hired to Boeing in the engineering dept that same summer (Thanks to my architecture teacher's referral). I bought a brand new Toyota Celica GT coupe notchback with wire wheels and landau roof at age 17 (parents had to authorize me to start working at Boeing at age 17). I had so many haters and people that didn't believe that was my car because of my age. This song, Chic and R&B of that time period brings back many great great memories! Back then we knew every band by their distinct sound, unlike groups today who all sound like each other! Like every generation, my generation thought our music of the time was best (and it was, and still is!), that's why there r so many remixes from that period still today. Great funk never dies!!!
Dang, man. They hated you going all "establishment" at 17. 🤣 I expect it paid off well. GOOD for you. That was a fast car indeed! I hope it served you well until you traded it on a Jaguar. (My preference!). Anyway...cool story.

@@Anotherdaynparadise its the bassline, always has been
@@vice8811 What attributes does this bassline possess that makes this track the most sophisticated disco song ever made?
I rather say one of the most sophisticated song ever produced. Who cares if it is wether disco or funk or upbeat R&B or symphonic or pop
My era of Disco began with Maestro Barry White and ended with Chic. What a 10 years of Bookend Disco and a fabulous ending of my Disco Days.

Nile's smooth guitar licks and Bernard killing that bass was perfect synergy on this.
Disco classic from Chic. I am 63 and I love this banger of a tune from 1978! Still dancing now!! XX
Yesssss

68 Mate, still rocking to Disco and always will! 70's rule forever!
This Disco tunes was my bathroom record when I was a radio DJ back in the old days. It was long enough for me to take a bathroom break when working alone with no one to relieve me. It has a yellow and green label and the vinyl is pink. I still have and cherish it.
Forever classic! Still loving this in 2024!
I’m a 60’s baby and I distinctly remember this song playing on the radio in the 70’s. Riding my bicycle and playing basketball, roller skating and just enjoying life. WOW, I REALLY MISS THOSE DAYS.

These guys were absolute geniuses.... How is it that nearly 40 years later, their music sounds so fresh and new?
Elementary my dear friend. Begin with Nile Rodgers, add Bernard Edwards, Tony Thompson as well as Norma Jean Wright, later replaced by Alfa Anderson and not forgetting Luci Martin. Voila, Chic!!!

I totally agree

That’s why the music has changed dramatically. No love, unity and harmony. It’s all by design 🫤
It's a Pure Musical Masterpiece...😃
I consider myself fortunate to have lived in the late '70s with the great music of that time. Thank you DJDiscoCat for making a great song even better!
