I had a similar situation, but it was with my mom. She would often comment on how needy I was when I asked for normal things. When I got older, and my dad had more free time to be involved in my life, I realized that what she did wasn't normal at all and it's perfectly fine to accept and ask for affection. Also, take into account how much help there is available for men who experience that compared to the support women have. Statistically men have higher suicide rates, and women are more likely to survive their attempts. Now sure, maybe it doesn't happen as often, but it still happens, and it doesn't make this man's experience, or the experience of any man who's experienced this violent act forced onto them any less valid. It doesn't change the fact that someone's body was violated for someone else's pleasure. It doesn't change the fact that that person was taken advantage of in some way or another. Of course, we don't know the way he was violated, but regardless of what happened it's still rape and that should still be taken seriously. I'm glad that my friends and loved ones have never experienced sexual crimes against them, but I've known men who were victims of domestic violence, including my own father, and the amount of times it's just brushed under the rug because apparently it's not as bad as when a woman experiences makes me so angry. I'm glad that the man who made that post is able to accept the fact that the thing that happened to him was an anomaly, and doesn't let it shape his view of women or humanity as a whole, and I hope that he has the resources he needs to heal from such an experience. The story around 18:45 i relate to, to some degree. I had an ex that was very reliant on me emotionally. She was a taker, not a giver. While she did have some moments of being able to give me emotional support, I was mainly the one giving emotional support. It was like she was a happiness vampire. She had a lot of issues in her private life, and it was so draining on a day-to-day basis for me. I had my own issues at the time, and I was going through high school as well, so it wasn’t like everything was peachy for me either. The best thing for this guy to probably do, is to just leave her unless she acts like an adult and is able to start meeting his needs. It seems they both have an issue with communication. The easiest way to squash. All of this is to just be honest about your feelings. It seems that none of them can really feel comfortable enough doing this, maybe they do but from the context, it seems that neither are good at communication. It’s either you want a boyfriend that is very touchy and affectionate or you get one that is very distant and reserved until clearly given the go ahead. You cannot have both. It’s so annoying that her issue is that her boyfriend is too affectionate. While I know a lot of people, myself included, that are having trouble getting back into dating. It seems that all she ever did was take compliments and other such positive affirmations. It didn’t seem like she gave any back. I can understand how in some context it can be annoying if someone is always raring to go. But it should also be a sign that your partner does truly love you in multiple ways when they are so ready to show you affection and love. It’s just sad that she gets something that many people are not getting.

I felt the same way because I'm demisexual with a lower sex drive than most people I know. I don’t think that the last story belongs on this subreddit. The woman wasn’t wrong for telling her boyfriend that his actions made her uncomfortable, and the boyfriend wasn’t wrong for leaving the woman because he just didn’t see her as sexually compatible, which is a totally valid reason for not wanting to be in a relationship. I think that it was actually a very reasonable and healthy situation where both parties were honest about how they felt and they just didn’t work together.
Nobody's arguing against them being honest with each-other, nor are they saying she was wrong in telling him to respect her boundaries. The problem is her being upset when he DID respect her boundaries, and trying to force a one-sided relationship to work long after it's established that it's no longer working. She also could've handled her communication better, and even she acknowledges that in the post.

I had a similar situation, but it was with my mom. She would often comment on how needy I was when I asked for normal things. Sure, the statistics are lower, but there's a reason for that. First of all, things that are considered rape (tampering with condoms/birth control, drugging, engaging in the act while someone is intoxicated, statutory rape, etc) are glorified when it happens to men by a lot of people. Take for example, a little boy who's taken advantage of by an older woman. How does the media portray that? How do people take that? Another example, a woman baby trapping a man for marriage of child support by lying about or tampering with protection (which is rape because that entirely undermines a massive part of consent). That's glorified to an insane extent, to the point that most men don't report it and most people don't see it as more than just a really fucked up thing for her to do. Now lets say that the guy does report something like that, how often are they genuinely taken seriously? Also, take into account how much help there is available for men who experience that compared to the support women have. Statistically men have higher suicide rates, and women are more likely to survive their attempts.
Now sure, maybe it doesn't happen as often, but it still happens, and it doesn't make this man's experience, or the experience of any man who's experienced this violent act forced onto them any less valid. It doesn't change the fact that someone's body was violated for someone else's pleasure. It doesn't change the fact that that person was taken advantage of in some way or another. Of course, we don't know the way he was violated, but regardless of what happened it's still rape and that should still be taken seriously.
I'm glad that my friends and loved ones have never experienced sexual crimes against them, but I've known men who were victims of domestic violence, including my own father, and the amount of times it's just brushed under the rug because apparently it's not as bad as when a woman experiences makes me so angry.
I'm glad that the man who made that post is able to accept the fact that the thing that happened to him was an anomaly, and doesn't let it shape his view of women or humanity as a whole, and I hope that he has the resources he needs to heal from such an experience. The story around 18:45 i relate to, to some degree. I had an ex that was very reliant on me emotionally. She was a taker, not a giver. While she did have some moments of being able to give me emotional support, I was mainly the one giving emotional support. It was like she was a happiness vampire. She had a lot of issues in her private life, and it was so draining on a day-to-day basis for me. I had my own issues at the time, and I was going through high school as well, so it wasn’t like everything was peachy for me either. The best thing for this guy to probably do, is to just leave her unless she acts like an adult and is able to start meeting his needs.
It seems they both have an issue with communication. The easiest way to squash. All of this is to just be honest about your feelings. It seems that none of them can really feel comfortable enough doing this, maybe they do but from the context, it seems that neither are good at communication. It’s either you want a boyfriend that is very touchy and affectionate or you get one that is very distant and reserved until clearly given the go ahead. You cannot have both. It’s so annoying that her issue is that her boyfriend is too affectionate. While I know a lot of people, myself included, that are having trouble getting back into dating. It seems that all she ever did was take compliments and other such positive affirmations. It didn’t seem like she gave any back.
I can understand how in some context it can be annoying if someone is always raring to go. But it should also be a sign that your partner does truly love you in multiple ways when they are so ready to show you affection and love. It’s just sad that she gets something that many people are not getting.

I don’t think that the last story belongs on this subreddit. The woman wasn’t wrong for telling her boyfriend that his actions made her uncomfortable, and the boyfriend wasn’t wrong for leaving the woman because he just didn’t see her as sexually compatible, which is a totally valid reason for not wanting to be in a relationship. I think that it was actually a very reasonable and healthy situation where both parties were honest about how they felt and they just didn’t work together.
