I've been searching all over the Internet and it seems that California are one of the 14 states that ACTUALLY criminalizes willful spread of nonspecific STDs. You can check the CDC to verify that and that article was last updated March 2023. Unless you are talking about California HSC 120290, which replaced California HSC 120291 in 2018 which was the law that made it originally a felony for knowingly spreading STDs, but now it's considered a misdemeanor. However, it's change seems to be intended for creating extra charges such as assault with a deadly weapon (misdemeanor or felony), soliciting/supervising prostitution (both are misdemeanors). You even have the right to sue for damages, as well. It's still pretty lame, but it's actually surprising to learn that this act isn't even universally criminalized in all 50 states.

His macbook (which has decades worth of family photos on it), work laptop, airpods, wallet, car keys to both his jeep and my moms honda, and important documents were stolen in about 3 minutes. The SFPD did catch the criminal and were able to return the laptop but the rest of the stuff has not been recovered, and the macbook is locked out due to a feature by apple support that they now can't remove. Overall a terrible situation and I totally feel for this girl.

When I saw Toby’s story, I couldn’t help but get emotional. He looks just like mine and my roommate’s cat Mani. Our boy was a rescue that came to us with several infections and feline herpes, but we’ve been working with him over the past year just to get him in a good place physically and emotionally, making sure to treat his physical conditions and letting him know he’s in a place where he’s safe and loved. He’s so playful and affectionate, and we’d be heartbroken if we were ever separated. I had to give him a good long cuddle and tell him how much I love him, knowing there are people that would be this cruel to such a sweet, pretty boy.
To some saying it's just a tree, to we British it was extremely significant; since not only was it an iconic landmark for decades if not hundreds of years, it was in MANY movies and TV shows that filmed at the location. When I saw Toby’s story, I couldn’t help but get emotional. He looks just like mine and my roommate’s cat Mani. Our boy was a rescue that came to us with several infections and feline herpes, but we’ve been working with him over the past year just to get him in a good place physically and emotionally, making sure to treat his physical conditions and letting him know he’s in a place where he’s safe and loved. He’s so playful and affectionate, and we’d be heartbroken if we were ever separated. That entire first minute was already enough to make me lose hope.
So, this tree (which will grow back) gets cut down professionally. They just nab a random kid, claim he did it for 'clout' and railroad him without releasing ANY evidence other than their word.
Further research says he's cooperating with the investigation and another guy in his 60's was arrested too. That could explain the professional job cutting it down, but details are still lacking.
This whole thing seems strange. I wouldn't put it past some public official doing it because they want to buy the land for a developer friend, then putting a couple of random people in prison for it so he could get away with it.

2 bouts of totalpos happened at work just last night where I work.
1. A couple came in with their baby. Sit their baby in a chair with a toy and proceed to spend nearly two hours drinking. All while ignoring the (surprisingly quiet and well behaved) baby.
2. A woman got absolutely furious at the servers because she felt that she and her friend were being 'rushed out' because the servers were cleaning up the place getting ready to close everything down... nearly an hour after close. The servers didn't talk to them to tell them to leave or anything, they were just sweeping up and cleaning the place because it's they're job to do that.
Well hey, at least in the start at 0:30 the woman only THOUGHT about testing people's allergies. She didn't... but she thought real damn hard about doing it.
