I did some additional tests: All preset modes are affected by the dimming except for the Creator preset (sRGB and DCI-P3 mode). The same dimming behavior also happens below 100% brightness, but the jump in nits is not as steep as at max brightness. For example: At 50% brightness it's a jump from about 117 nits to 99 nits.
Oleds are actually best at lower brightness, even LCD panels have problems when increasing the brightness of the backlight for SDR.. A drop in image quality effects LCD panels at higher brightness levels.. sadly :(

I sent mine AW2725DF back. In games with not buggy hdr implementation it is cool (Dead Space Remake, Days Gone), also it is great for fast FPS games, but in everything else it is only okay in nonHDR Games or buggy . Windows HDR implentation is simply a headack, Windows SDR is too dark, in HDR Mode you have to fix srgb mode with a fittig gamma2.2 mode icc-profile (without the contrast rates are far off). All Streaming services I know/use are not supporting hdr or 4k, accept netflix with a lot of workarounds in really buggy state. HDR in youtube is great, but accept some benchmark videos it is really rare in everyday videos. Only HDR400 is in Windows near usuable with the icc-profile hacks, but still then it is hard for my eyes. In fitting games like Dead Space you have to change to HDR1000 to have the bright enough highlights everytime you want to play, but it really looks fascinating. Darkness and 10-bit colours are my real highlights of the monitor, but not enough for the price.
The whole brightness thing is so confusing to me: 1. The older QD-Oleds (like the AW3423dwf) could reach over 230 nits no problem. So reaching this brightness level with a 2nd/3rd generation QD-Oled should not be a problem at all. Pixel Density on the AW2725DF and AW3423DWF is the same btw. 2. The AW2725DF can produce over 240nits in test environments and in HDR. So it should be able to do this in real world SDR content as well. But there is also no reason why Dell would program the monitor in the way they did unless the monitor can't reach those brightness values in real world and they want to hide it. Can Dell fix this behavior with a firmware update and push overall brightness in real world content ? If the MSI Model is much better I'm willing to pay the 200€ more here in Germany.
I love to see all of the new QD-OLED monitors offer a glossy display, but it's a shame Samsung again does not use a polarizer to eliminate their raisng black level issue. Therefore the QD-OLEDs are out for me. Whats interesting here, as you used the LG 27inch Model as comparison, LG refreshed their 2023 Model (27G"R"95QE-B). The refreshed model (27G"S"95QE-B) offers a glossy instead matte screen, with 1300nits peak brightness, typical brightness of 275nits (probably MLA technology), 240hz and the same old pixel structure. So compared to the new QD-OLEDs a little brighter, no raising black level issue, but of course 240hz insteatd of 360hz and worse with text.
@@CarnivoryHODL Well, I thought this would be the one with a glossy panel. At least it’s one of their refreshed panels. If you are looking for LG Display OLED monitor Roadmap you will see that this panel will have glossy option at least.
guess i'll be stuck with 1080p IPS since i refuse to ever get a 27" monitor that flickers with VRR on, my 27" VA from ROG had killed all excitement i had about gaming on monitors so if oled also only come on 27"+ sizes and also flicker like hell then i'll just get the BenQ EX240 (IPS) and play with VRR on and DLDSR 2.4x.
That refresh rate just seems overkill, imo, but I'm just happy to see 1440p OLEDs. I hope we see 24 inch as well, and I hope the price continues to drop. I'd kill to replace my IPS with OLED.
Adaptive sync? Glad you mention that you don't see the tearing, but in reality you need to go further, THERE IS NO TEARING!~~~ NO ONE can see it, I've only seen it in OSU! on my 240hz TN. My pet peeve is "hardware reviewers" pretending that gsync or any sync is a useful feature over 144hz. It's the dumbest take and NO ONE who plays OSU! uses any sync because it adds a small amount of delay. 🙏We need more people to DENY sync and start the non-sync revolution to stop misinformation about tearing.
Brightness could be a firmware bug?? But I’ll have to say 200 nits in a light controlled room is bright. If I’m color editing with a couple of floor lamps on my calibration puts it at a recommended 120 nits.

I don’t care if I lose out on .5ms of input lag 🤣 I’ll take better motion at higher peak brightness and perfect blacks all day long. (390hz backlight strobing is still impressive ngl, obv doesn’t come close to Zowie’s TN).

would you able to the a review on dyac 2 vs ulmb 2?
I just ordered it, I hope I haven't made a mistake, I will use it as the main monitor to play and browse in Chrome only along with a 4070, I hope to have the best image quality on the market that my equipment can support and that it is better than the MSI in image quality. construction and firmware as in fan cooling
Regrets?
@@CRF250R1521 yes, i have msi mpg 271qrx now and i love it
I had try this beauty. Sadly return it.. could figure out to get custom resolution. I have 3 screens two of them IPs 144 and 360hz fhd. But this one didn’t even show DSR Factor to do it off by NVIDIA control panel. I try so much.. I really love the colours and deep of oled black. 😢
It didn't show DSR factor because it use DSC, and it can not be turned off, yet. MSI QRX/QPX271 has HDMI 2.1 so do not need DSC, and can be turned off when using display port 2.0, but limit you to 240hz
If anyone sees this comment i was curious on what he meant by screen tearing? Like if i turn off free sync i wont see any at all?
Tearing or flickering isn't the worst problem a monitor has.. stutter is.. I'll take VRR any day to remove stutter from games with fps drops
Is Oled 1440p worth, if I play at 60fps or 120fps because most have 240hz or 360hz but for me around 100fps is enough ? I dont care for HDR and always use minimum brightness on monitor and strong light in my room because of eye problems, if i increase the monitor brightness.
dont cope and upgrade your pc first. 100 is not enough fs.

@@acxel7905 I already have 7800x3d and 7800xt with 32gb 6000mhz ram. 1080p 144hz monitor IPS. For me 60fps is enough tbh when testing several games, several times.
Is DLDSR possible on this display?
Not at the moment. It's one of the reasons I returned mine. I tried everything from installing the latest drivers to setting different refresh rates within the nvidia control panel. Nothing worked. I plugged up my original ips, and it worked just fine. So I believe it's not on my end. I saw that I'm not the only one to have this issue when I searched online for any workarounds.

what configuration exactly?
Lol is this the new COD bro monitor?
The whole brightness thing is so confusing to me:
It does not!
Bro make a video on msi g244f model gaming monitor
can you review aox 24g4x ?
Where are you seeing glossy option?!
@@CarnivoryHODL Well, I thought this would be the one with a glossy panel. At least it’s one of their refreshed panels. If you are looking for LG Display OLED monitor Roadmap you will see that this panel will have glossy option at least.
@@GentaFanboy I saw too, but nothing confirmed by LG as of yet. Hope we see it soon.

The New lg
guess i'll be stuck with 1080p IPS since i refuse to ever get a 27" monitor that flickers with VRR on, my 27" VA from ROG had killed all excitement i had about gaming on monitors so if oled also only come on 27"+ sizes and also flicker like hell then i'll just get the BenQ EX240 (IPS) and play with VRR on and DLDSR 2.4x.
Great video, it's good to be informed about that pattern recognition cheating. Also love that OCD joke in there xD
The nit and the moving has put me off this monitor completely!
Hast du nen deutschen kanal?
Nah, I’ll stick to my IPS Alienware 280hz
That refresh rate just seems overkill, imo, but I'm just happy to see 1440p OLEDs. I hope we see 24 inch as well, and I hope the price continues to drop. I'd kill to replace my IPS with OLED.
Same here, man.
Not really. Use a 8000hz mouse along side it and you’ll feel the difference between 240hz and 360hz.
Adaptive sync?
Glad you mention that you don't see the tearing, but in reality you need to go further, THERE IS NO TEARING!~~~
NO ONE can see it, I've only seen it in OSU! on my 240hz TN.
Waiting for 4k oled 👍
I can't say that it blew my socks off. Then I looked at the price, which made the appeal so much less.
Brightness could be a firmware bug?? But I’ll have to say 200 nits in a light controlled room is bright. If I’m color editing with a couple of floor lamps on my calibration puts it at a recommended 120 nits.
whats the catch
The brightness diming at different RGB Levels, and the fact that it flickers when in adaptive sync
Very informative!
