Technically, there's no guarantee Snape and Lily's child would be the chosen one. THere's no guarantee the baby would have been born on the same date as Harry. Remember, Trelawney's prophecy could also have applied to Neville Longbottom. If Lily chose Snape, Harry would not exist at all....Neville Longbottom would have become the "chosen one".
True there is no guarantee, but that doesn't mean there is no chance. Snape's betrayal would have already been defying the dark lord twice. (Choosing a gryfindor, and turning his back on his old house mates possibly even hurting them if he joined the OotP.) His last "defying" of the dark lord couldbe anything.
Lily could have also been the one to do the last defyance. Their child could also still be born around the same time.
Well for all we know they might have had a girl, or maybe James would have chosen a different woman and had a son with her. For all we know there might be THREE candidates if they were boys born to people who defied Voldemort three times. That's all the prophecy says. The pool gets bigger if more people fight him and survive.
Or, they would probably not even have a child so soon. Especially considering the fact that a war is going on.
No because the only reason there is a chosen one because Snape told Voldy to spare Lily but she wouldn’t back down Wichita is why Harry survived

Honestly, do not believe Snape would've cared about the dark arts, as his love for Liliy, and her reciprocating that love, would've made him a better man. Call me romantic, as love conquers all.
Love conquers all is one of the themes of the series, so it makes perfect sense. In the end, it was his love for Lily that changed Snape, and made him contribute to the order, which helped win the war.
Their story is a cautionary tale about the evils of peer pressure.
All of these changes could have been Voldermort down fall as easily.
Snape changing side could have made others follow him.
It's thousands of leaves falling off a tree in a thousand different ways.

Yeah no doubt Lucius and the older soon to be DE's were re cruiting like people did for the Hitler Youth. Snape could not have made a more vulnerable target. Bullied, resentful, gifted, a loner, wants power, recognition, and acceptance. How easy it would have been to cosy up to a young Snape, offer him protection in return for hearing them out on their Lord's aims. And I don't buy that Snape's ventures in Dark Magic were maliciously intended. I think he believed that learning about the dark arts, becoming knowledgeable about them is a powerful advantage to protecting people from them, as well as becoming a more knowledgeable person in general. He probably hated dark arts books being censored in the Restricted Section because it kept people from being well informed. I also have a theory that sectumsempra was not malciously created either. I do believe Snape Sr. was very physically abusive, towards Snape and his mother. So I believe he created that spell as a desperate last resort to protect him and his mother. That's the one question I wish I could get JK to answer.
I wish Snape and Lily were explored. I was always curious how things would’ve played out for the both of them. I loved that they had known each other as children and I found it sad that their relationship could have blossomed into something beautiful, whether they became romantically involved or remained platonic. Even maintaining a friendship between the two of them would have been a sweet touch. A Gryffindor and Slytherin.
Snape was more interested of Dark Arts then what he was of Lily.
Snape was obsessed with his idea of what Lily should be. Lily was a good person and tried to remain friends with a monster that at the age of 11 knew more DARK MAGIC then 7th years! He was also equally obsessed with trying to get a group of students expelled just because the leader of the group had a crush on the girl that he happened to be stalking. He was so obsessed with her that he went to the guy who was in the process of hunting her family down and tried to convince him to save her but kill her son and husband in cold blood in-front of her. It’s amazing that the person who personally put the entire series in motion is made into an angel because at the very end of the series he tries to kind of rectify the situation that he caused.

Just that Voldemort wouldn't try to kill Harry and get fucked up in the process. Instead he would kill/torture James & Lily and walk away ; like it was done to the Longbottoms.
Killing a baby Harry won't have meant anything to Voldemort ; he wasn't at all against magical blood. He only wanted immortality and power for himself, death for muggles and all the magical beings to follow him. He only killed those witches/wizards who opposed him.

Lilly's death was even more tragic in the news that Lily had convinced James to talk things over with Severus - despite her ending the friendship with Snape due to him calling her a mudblood - she still cared about him, just not as much as Snape cared for her.
That never happened. After their sixth year, Lily basically left Snape to his own devices and most likely didn’t care much about him.

You seem to have forgotten that harry was ONLY the chosen one because Voldemort tried to kill him when he was a baby. If Voldemort did not know the prophacy then he never would have tried to killed harry which means there would be no chosen one.

@@lazer_dindy6455 harry was not the chosen one until Voldemort tried to kill him. He only tried to kill him because he knew (the first half) of the prophecy. If lily and snape would have been together and had a baby, 1 the prophecy would have been different if there was one at all, and 2 he would not have known about it because he only knew about the prophecy because snape overheard. So if snape was with lily he would not have heard the prophecy which means Voldemort would not have known about it (if there was still a prophecy) which means nobody would have been marked.

I read a fan-fiction once, which had an interesting concept similar to this. In it, everything played out the same as in the regular timeline, until the night of the Potters' murders. This version has Lily surviving Voldemort's attack due to a second pregnancy, the spell causing a miscarriage instead of killing her. Snape enters the house and finds her unconscious. Thinking she's dead, he cries and cradles her. She wakes up during this. The story cuts to James's funeral, and to a conversation between Lily and Snape. He tries to comfort her, telling her she can stay at his house until she gets back on her feet. She accepts, and the story ends. If JK Rowling ever put out a series of "what-if?" novels, I'd like to think she'd take this route.

What do you mean not as powerful ?Harry is an above average wizard at best despite being James and Lily's son ,If anything he would have been even more magically skilled and powerful due to him being Severus and Lily's Son .Severus is another level of wizard entirely compared to James or any of the other marauders . Though he wouldn't be harry potter .He would have been a completely different person with a completely different set of goals and moral values or whatnot.The only similarity he would have had with harry would be that he was born around the same time as he .The thing that is for certain is he wouldn't have gotten his hands on the invisibility cloak due to him not being a potter .He very well could have met ron or Hermione but whether he would be friends with them is another question entirely and even if he was the entire dynamic between the trio would have been altered to the point that it would have been unrecognisable .There wouldn't have been a trio ,If he does become the choosen one he might have completed all of his adventures alone or on his own if he becomes a particularly remarkable wizard or a wizard on the level of Tom Riddle or Albus Dumbledore .He would have been a more stereotypical choosen one as in being overpowered and highly gifted by comparison to harry
I think the biggest thing that would have changed is that Snape would have just plain been a happier and more sociable person. He probably would have been better liked at Hogwarts, gotten along better with his students, and had more friends.

konrad vesterberg Actually, since half-bloods can be Sorted into Slytherin, they can be accepted as Death Eaters, since those types of half-bloods cling onto their Wizarding heritage and are prejudiced towards those with Muggle heritage despite being “half-muggle” themselves. Also, Voldemort himself is half-blood (Witch Mother, Muggle Father). So is Umbitch (Wizard Father, Muggle Mother).
in the 4th book, at the start, it says voldemort kills anyone, pureblood or mudblood.

I love “what if’s” like this. It’s intriguing to explore all of the different possibilities, since this story really could have gone so many different ways. There’s something J. K. Rowling said that sparked my curiosity. She once stated that Lily was planning on reconciling with Snape, and even convinced James to try and patch things up with him. She was pregnant with a second child at the time, and wanted to ask Snape to be the Godfather. If Lily and James survived, and Snape accepted this role (even putting up with James so he could be Lily’s friend again), how would that affect the rest of the story? I think it would definitely be interesting to explore.
